They had advertised that pianist Stephen Mars's would be playing that night, so I checked out his music on line and got so excited to see him and hear some of his CD of Beatles music that I went with my girlfriend that night to see him. But I misunderstood the hours he was playing from 2-6 and believed he was playing from 6-9. So when we arrived there we were very disappointed to hear he was finished playing. So after we spoke to him for a little while explaining our disappointment, he went back up on stage and played some Beatles music for us and the other patrons despite his shift having ended. There was a pretty decent crowd and everyone loved it. Stephen is really a wonderful musician and truly an interesting and terrific guy! So I would highly recommend the music in The Backroom Live at the Fish House, particularly when Stephen Marks is performing there. Thanks Harry K.

The first bar we tried didn't work out (long story) and my husband mentioned having seen an interesting bar next to Pisco y Nazca where we had been a few times. So off we went. It was around 9:00 pm, and there was only like one other couple there. My understanding is it's more of a club vibe later so that's prob why. It is all outdoors with a bar across the back. It looked nice and was decorated for Christmas. We chose to stand at the bar instead of sitting at a table which seemed to have service. We ended up ordering a cocktail each (amaretto sour and mojito). There weren't any prices on the menu (except for the specialty cocktails which they were out of). Our total for the two drinks came to $42! So I paused and asked if the tip had already been added, and the bartender sort of mumbled something about "no", so I asked if the drinks were actually $20 each. (I mean, we're in Kendall, not South Beach!) So then he showed me the receipt that showed the drinks were $16.50 each and an auto grat of 20%+ had already been added. I did not add an additional tip on top of that. But the experience was in line with some of what I read here (afterwards) of them being a little scammy financially. I'd give it 1 star but the drinks were fine and I could see the vibe being fun once more people showed up.

The facility provides you with the location, the DJ and the drinks. The customer brings the food and decorations. The kids had a lot of fun as they got to hang out, talk, dance. Be sure to bring older people to help supervise as kids can get out of hand. Definitely a place for kids to have fun in a safe environment. The kids get dropped off and once in the bldg. they are not allowed to step out of the bldg.. therefore, a parent should be stationed by the front door as kids would want to test their boundaries.

The reason why my friend's troupe got to perform there was because the troupe included children, which the theater supports. They also teach classes such as dance, theater, and voice. I booked Riddims Junkanoo Band in April 2026 for my July 18, 2026, 50th birthday milestone…read morecelebration. I intentionally booked several months in advance to secure my event date and selected the 10-12 band member package because I wanted to create a memorable cultural experience for my guests. My performance time was scheduled for 9:30 p.m., and I made it clear from the beginning that this time was not flexible because it was coordinated with the overall flow of the evening. Throughout the planning process, communication was responsive, and I had no concerns leading up to the event. Unfortunately, on the day of the event, I was asked to submit the final payment earlier that day, although we had originally agreed that final payment would be made upon the band's arrival. Later that evening, my MC informed me that Rick had advised the band would not arrive until approximately 11:00 p.m., about 90 minutes after the agreed performance time. By the time the band arrived, many of my guests had already left, which meant they missed the 10-12 member Junkanoo experience I had carefully planned and invested in months in advance. Because my event began at 7:00 p.m., the performance occurred near the end of the evening, significantly impacting the timeline and guest experience that had been discussed and agreed upon beforehand. To their credit, the performers who arrived brought great energy. The female dancer was especially engaging, and the guests who remained thoroughly enjoyed the performance. In fact, some guests who were preparing to leave turned around and came back inside when they saw the band lining up outside. I genuinely appreciate the enthusiasm and entertainment they provided once they arrived. However, for milestone celebrations, weddings, anniversaries, or other events where timing and guest flow are critical, punctuality is just as important as performance quality. In my opinion, a delay of a few minutes is understandable, but a 90-minute delay after an agreed-upon performance time is not. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company for events where adherence to a scheduled timeline is an important part of the overall guest experience.
