Visited here for friends gathering. Food was delicious (everyone in our table agreed!) We ordered Margarita pitcher that gave us almost six glasses. If you're considering more than 4 glasses, that was a good deal. They have very Mexican vibe and nice back patio too! Willing to revisit again :)

I wish I knew about this place earlier! What a fun spot to go with friends. Great service, great food, great overall vibes. Shrimp tacos: 9.5/10 Delicious and the shrimps were large. Only thing was that it was hard to get in my mouth because there was so much tasty filling - Would not recommend to order on a first date Lime margarita: 10/10 Didn't even know I liked margaritas until now Tres Leches cake: 7.5/10 Was so full from all the other food (not pictured are the veggie nachos and guacamole starter), this cake was on the sweeter side and could only eat one bite. Great for those with a sweet tooth Churros and coconut ice cream: 10/10 Ice cream was covered in toasted coconut flakes. The cold against the freshly made churros was heaven Highly recommend!

This is a perfect place for authentic Mexican food and of course Margaritas! They have a patio alongside Yonge Street, a patio at the back and you also can dine in. The décor is dark and colorful and with the use of electric candles on the tables. The ambient is very cozy and the staff (who seem to be Mexican, too) are very friendly. We ordered "Traditional Margarita", "Tamarindo Margarita", "Mojito Margarita" and Sangria for drinks. We also ordered Guacamole and Nachos to share Enchiladas for entrée. Drinks were amazing and the food was delicious.

You know the general rule for dining out? If the restaurant is full, it's probably pretty good. Today I was proven wrong. A friend and I were looking for a place for dinner and decided to check out Mariachi's since it had a full patio, and the margaritas looked great! Well... We were seated promptly and handed a couple of sticky menus that was different from other Mexican spot I've been to. The drinks were priced reasonably, but the food menu was odd. It had some reasonably priced apps, and everything else was ~20. I can understand prices have gone up across the city, but 3 tacos (no sides) for $20 is a bit much in my opinion...oh and no mixing. The most frustrating part was the service. After 10 mins of sitting a server took our drink order and said they'd come back for our food order - but I interrupted and asked for guacamole anyway. 10 mins later, the guacamole came out, but no drinks. About 1/2 cup of guac + semi-stale chips for $14?! That's not even a whole avocado. 5 mins later my friend's drink came and I sat there nibbling on chips. 20 mins later I got my drink - a jalapeno margarita. And it was fantastic! 50 mins after seating, no one had come to take our meal order. I asked one staff, and she said someone will come shortly. Finally, about 1 hour after sitting down, someone took our order. I don't know if they have new staff in training, but they need some organization. The food... I don't know... I feel like I've had much better Mexican food in Toronto for significantly less. I ordered the Morelia, which was chicken enchilada with poblano sauce, and beef burrito covered in some tomato sauce and cheese. The sauces tasted like they were from a can... lacking flavour. However, their home made habanero hot sauce was very good. For $55 per person, this felt very disappointing. I'll definitely go back for the margaritas, but can't say I was impressed by anything else.

I came here with my brother and his family. At first they seated us outside but it was too hot and so they gladly found us a table for five people inside. I had steak fajitas. Although a little fatty, the steak was the best I have ever had with fajitas. And honestly, this was the first I was asked how I wanted the steak for my fajitas cooked. Usually it comes out well done.

It was a nice ambiance inside, the music is not too loud and they have a nice patio at the back of the restaurant. Service is okay. The food's flavour is good but on the pricier side since it's not a big serving. It also took a while for the tacos to come. Good thing we ordered soup as appetizer, it was a great soup (probably best I had in years)! The only downside is that it's $5 for a small bowl. Overall experience it's around 6/10.

Amazing and friendly service! The food is good value and very filling. I ordered the veggie fajitas. Definitely add the habanero sauce to give it more spice. The guacamole and tortilla chips are made fresh. My friend really enjoyed his East LA dish and my partner loved the Morelia dish.i also had the sangria which barely tastes like alcohol, but hit me after half the drink. I also bought the habanero sauce to take home.

    Mojito margarita

Delicious food, we tried fajita, nachos, and mojito margarita.we were there last night everything was perfect will go there again. The only concern there was the staff they are friendly but we wait a long time for orders.

So this is my first trip to Canada and I decided to try this place because of a picture I saw of a margarita. So of course, I did go and order that drink. I asked for a frozen margarita but it was far from frozen. It looked like the machine had melted. They made me another and it looked great but it wasn't sweet. I did order the quesadilla with chorizo. It was delicious. They served it Spanish rice and a side salad. First time I've been to a Mexican restaurant and I didn't get black beans. I had the habanero sauce with it and it was super spicy but I live for spicy food!

I love how cute and cultured this restaurant is, the service was amazing and the food is to die for! The best nachos I've ever had in Canada, every chip got eaten. No chip was left behind. The tacos were absolutely delicious, I am 1000% coming back for more of this place! Even the drinks were perfect we lovedd the selection of mojito's!

First things first: Great service! They were so polite, friendly and for the most part fast The margaritas were fantastic! I will definitely be back for those! However, the food left my taste buds in complete disappointment!! The appetizer was alright- everything was bland for myself and my boyfriend. Entrees: my boyfriend ordered the beef enchiladas. They looked fantastic and I would know, I was looking at his meal for awhile.. I was kept waiting for my chicken enchiladas for about an additional 5-10 minutes after he got his. When it finally came, my rice was cold! Not to mention? I found a hair in it. I pretty much lost my appetite right there. But I was just too hungry in the end- so I ate around my nasty rice. Again, food was bland! For Mexican food, I expect bold flavours and spices... I got none of this. Not to mention, the "spicy" sauce was not even a hint of spice in there. I gave them three stars because they were über nice and the service was good. However, this is a Mexican place I won't be visiting again for the food.

10/10 would recommend checking this spot out! Such amazing food and a very wonderful experience, almost like your are eating a home cooked meal! New favourite restaurant in Toronto!

The place is a bit small so it can be a bit tight so I would highly recommend having reservations if you have a large group. Tacos: The soft and the crispy tacos were both delicious. The tinga chicken and the beef barbacoa were juicy and full of flavour. The portions was fair, the quality was a standout and tasted quite authentic. Overall, I really had a great experience at Playa Cabana, totally would come here again to try out their other dishes.

When I went to the basement washroom, I swear I saw what looked like the end of a mouse's tail sticking out from under the door. Needless to say, I completely lost my appetite. When the waiter asked how everything was, I told him honestly that it was terrible. I had only taken two bites, and there was really no response. I wouldn't have wanted a replacement anyway after that experience. I also had some fruit bites, and about 10 minutes later my stomach started gurgling. By the time I got home, I felt awful. I was shivering, felt like I was going to throw up, and had to rush to the bathroom. It honestly felt like food poisoning. And I still paid for my meal Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place.

We got lucky and they were able to squeeze us into seats at the bar area, which ended up being the best possible spot because we had a front-row view of the live fire cooking the entire night. The ambiance was lively and hip, with a great energy that made the whole experience feel exciting. This was my first time watching each main courses get cooked over live fire in real time, which added to our amazement given that all the dishes came out cooked to the right doneness. Every bite of meat and seafood was perfectly kissed with flame -- the char, the subtle smoke, the texture. Beyond the fire element, you can really taste how fresh everything is. Nothing felt heavy or muddled. Each dish was well thought out with balanced flavors, but the ingredients and that fire/smoke magic were always the main event. Service was also superb. All the staff were attentive and high-energy. Different servers checked up on us throughout the meal, our water was always kept full, and dishes were cleared in a timely manner. Only drawback: the heat. Sitting by the fire is incredible for the show, but it definitely started to feel like a sauna at times. Still, I'd do it again and choose to sit at the bar without hesitation. If you're in Toronto and you love a tasting menu, this is a must. Just make sure you book at least a month in advance - it's popular for a reason.

Quetzal was recommend by our server when we were dining at a Vancouver Michelin restaurant (Barbara), as our server was originally from Ontario. Every dish was amazingly flavoured and presentation was on point. Atmosphere was lovely too, laid back but chic. Comfortable yet elevated. Highlight was the scallops, we asked for it to be included on our set menu, and they delivered. Can't wait to go back!

For food, the LC nachos are absolutely massive. The chips themselves are excellent, thick, super crunchy, and full of authentic corn flavor. But the absolute highlight for us was the tiger shrimp. It comes out beautifully in a skillet with a spicy, slightly creamy sauce that is just pure heaven, especially when you scoop it up with the warm flatbread. We also grabbed some tacos to share. My grilled steak taco was a little on the dry side, but it was still really tasty thanks to the super generous and fresh toppings. Even with a couple of minor misses, the standout dishes and great vibes totally win you over. I'd definitely come back, especially to load up on those nachos and shrimp again!
