Not only does Mariano's have a wide selection of nonperishable goods, but their butcher and seafood counters offer a wide array of high quality treats for the grill and oven. I especially recommend their pizza brats and their marinated salmon offerings. Try the mango one tonight! Paired with their fresh bread and veggies, it makes an excellent dinner. And my favorite part of this store is the bar. Where else around here can you get a craft beer for $4 a pint?! And you can drink while you shop. Employee at the smoothie bar made it seem like it was a drag to make my order. It ended up having little to no ice (ratio was completely off, ) Imagine a warm tasting smoothie. Wanted to grab a deli sandwich but was told by a staff member that he couldn't help because he was about to go on break. It's so rare when employees seek YOU out to offer help with a genuine interest to ... HELP. Stopped in to pick up some chicken breast - thanks to Chris who did a great job of catering to my unusual request with a smile!!! and decided to build my own 6-pack of beer while I was there. Maggie appeared out of the blue and asked if I needed help finding anything. Usually you can get a sense when people ask if you need help if they are just saying it because it seems like the right thing to do and when they actually WANT to help, unfortunately it's usually the former ... but I could tell she was on point and was she! I had a few odd ball requests which she found both so I could put a rockstar 6-pack of specialty beer together. Super friendly and helpful. Thanks Maggie! I wish I could find one grocery store that has ALL of the things I'm looking for. I was hoping Mariano's would fit the bill with a cheaper price tag than Whole Foods. The yay: + Some organic produce + Two organic cream cheese options. + They sell cake squares, so I can get a small dessert without buying (and being tempted by) a whole cake. The Death by Chocolate was pretty good. + The cashier was friendly enough. The nay: I was specifically looking for Siggi (skyr) 4% yogurt, but they only had tubs and only in the plain flavor. I was excited for organic produce, but the fruit selection was mostly apples and pears (no berries or grapes.. though maybe that has to do with them not being seasonal yet?). I wanted whole grain bagels, and there was only one kind. One! The bakery was inconsistent in helping customers (didn't follow numbers), though luckily there weren't many people waiting. The Tiramisu I got was just okay, but very absent on the coffee and had no nice soppiness at the bottom. I know people loooove the salad and hot foods bars, but I witnessed enough mannerless people openly coughing within spraying distance. Yuckkkk. The bartender in the Bloomingdale IL store tried to steal $9.00 from me on 08/14/19. This happened about 7:15pm. I reported it to store management multiple times. First time: via email to Krogers parent company online on 08/15/19. Second time: via a phone call to a Manager at the Bloomingdale store at 6:58pm on 08/15. During that phone conversation management did not take my name or phone number. He only stated that the bartender gave him a very different story. He stated that they would watch a video and determine what actually happened. I never heard back. Third time: Via another email to parent company Kroger on 08/18. They said to contact the store directly and I told them that I already did. Fourth time: On 08/25/19 at 5:59pm I spoke with a female manager via phone who knew nothing about it. She promised someone would get back to me the next day. Nobody did. Fifth time: I physically walked into Marianos and asked to speak to a store manager. Once again he promised that he would watch a video. I provided the date and time of the incident. This is the response I received from a manager via voicemail on 08/29 at 4:29pm "We watched the video and nothing happened". "He (bartender) touched a napkin on the counter. He took $9.00 out of his tip jar to avoid creating a scene with you". I conclude one of the following: 1. They did not watch the entire video 2. Someone edited out the part of the video where the bartender grabbed my cash off the counter 3. Mariano's management is bold faced lying. I have lived in Bloomingdale for over 20 years and am a person of honesty and integrity. As a professional IT consultant I am frequently drug tested and finger printed and pass with flying colors each time. I tell the truth to my friends, my employers, my clients at engagements, and the public. For Marianos management to conclude that I am the one who is not telling the truth angers me and they have permanently lost a loyal customer. I will never shop there again. Details of the incident on 08/14/19: I ordered three $3.00 glasses of wine after grocery shopping and paid $9.00 with $20 cash. I then left a $2.00 tip on the counter. At that time there was $11.00 cash on the counter. $2.00 was separate and I told a new woman that it was her tip. The bald-headed guy who was training her grabbed $9.00 of my cash off the counter and took it. I demanded it back. I then told him how much the wine cost, how much the tip was and how much he owed me. He only gave me $7 back. I yelled at him and demanded the other $2 back. He finally gave me the other $2 back. This is not the first time he did this. He charged me $5 for a glass of wine instead of $3. I paid by credit card that time. I went to customer service and they refunded $4, for two glasses of wine. I was sold spoiled lunch meat from here for the second time. I don't believe the deli staff can't tell when the meat has turned as they're slicing and handling it. Go to Meijer's deli. I went to receive some money from Western Union and was basically interrogated and because I didn't have a Illinois state I.D. which isn't required! Zacharie claimed that they changed the policy. She also asked me if I was American which is completely false because I've been sending money and receiving money for years and I have never been asked that! I've never felt so low of a person because all I wanted to do was pick up some money for my daughter. I went on to explain to Zacharie that I come in here all the time and send money with this same out of state I.D. and you can take my money when I send me but now I can't received it? Sounds like racial profiling to me? You know I'm not from Chicago and what I was told was to not go to Mariano's because that's not a store for minorities. This type of behavior was and is completed unacceptable, unprofessional and she should not be working in customer service. Her name is Zacharie. I'm in disbelief that I was asked if I'm American? Her co worker jenny stepped in and tried to explain some bs about the I.D. and jenny called her manager and they said go ahead and accept my I.D. If anyone wants to get racially profiled, discriminated or mistreated with a hint of racism at its finest go to this Mariano's in Bloomingdale. Great layout. Lots of options. All visual. Produce- They were out of lemons and arugula. Deli- 1 person working who was talking to another coworker while I stood there waiting for at least 3-4 minutes. Cheese area- the girl working there was either having a bad day or simply rude. I asked her for a certain type of cheese and she simply pointed without saying a word. I then found some cheeses I needed and realized a stack of Brie was expired. I mentioned it to her and she said. "Ok". Groceries- I came home with 3 boxes of little bites for my sons party and when I opened the boxes all the packages said the items expired in November 2018. ????? Mariano's has been my favorite place to do my groceries. I find a lot of Italian food and ingredients to please my picky husband. I like the huge variety of groceries they have from all over the world. I like the fact you can have your meat Grill or cook right there. If you are hungry you can sit and relax have a beer, wine, cheese, coffee or gelato and just relax and enjoyed their prepared food. I am so happy they made a big Mariano's I. Bloomingdale it has a lot of completions with is neighboring next door grocers but I know for fact. Mariano's has better quality food and cheeses you can not find anywhere else. I like coming here to take time to smell the roses. It makes me happy to see the floral arrangement they have. I sometimes treat my self with the specials they have of the season. Like right now the fragrant spring bulbs boy they smell so good. I love their fresh bread and cakes. Everything looks so delicious and beautiful. I know from reading some posts. There are some low star ratings for this store. I have had some disappointing incidents as well. All in all, I understand its hard to find great employees all of the time. The good the bad and the ugly. All recently: * I am in the men's room to wash my hands. I hear someone come out of a stall. Noticed it was a late 40ish man that came out. I look in the mirror thinking he would next to me and wash his hands as well. No! He was headed for the door and grabbed the door handle. I immediately said to him. ARE YOU NOT GOING TO WASH YOUR HANDS!! He put his head down and came to the sink. Said nothing Wow! I was very disappointed to witness that. Naturally, I needed to tell a manager, as I walked out of the men's room, I see an employee. Asked her if she can call a manager. I get to talk to one and the usual reply. " Thank you, for letting us know I will pass it on to higher management" * Yesterday walked up to the meat counter. Two employees not doing anything, just talking. "Can I get some help" mind you this has happened three times now with three different employees where they walk ever so slowly to you with no greeting and just look at you. I just wait and look back till they say something. Finally, he says " What would you like?" * After some bad experiences. I found the majority of employees are just awesome. Nick on the front end. A young gentleman every time. The pharmacist, and 90 percent of the cashers all great employees. You know it's like that everywhere. You find the good the bad and the ugly. Love this Mariano's, they have so much to offer! They have a guacamole bar, gelato/coffee bar, juice bar, trail mix stand, gourmet chocolates and fresh popcorn, salad bar, hot bar, olive bar, sushi bar, soup bar, todd's BBQ, pizza and sandwich bar, wine bar and oyster bar!!! On the weekends i love going to grab breakfast at the gelato/coffee bar. I order a banana walnut oatmeal and coffee deal for $3. The workers at the gelato/coffee are the best! Especially the middle aged lady with the brown hair that I always see on the weekend mornings, shes sweet and always friendly. Sometimes ill pop in for lunch and go to the oyster bar. Ive ordered oysters here but always miss the lunch special pricing when the oysters are cheaper, i think its between 11-2. When you order shrimp at the bar they give you the really big kind with cocktail sauce, slices of lemon and a vinegar sauce to dip your shrimp in. When i get lazy during the weekdays and dont feel like making my own lunch for work ill go to the meat section and order some chicken breasts and then I have the staff cook it for me. If i dont feel like waiting around i go to the fridge and grab a pre-made sandwhich. The rewards program is really great too, if you enroll in the program and you frequently order juices/smoothies from the juice bar, gelatos, soup ot sushi, after accumulating 10 of the same item you get one free. This store is way to pricey for this area. Not to mention there is a Meijer's a stone's throw away. Meijer is always packed their prices are incredible. This store has very poor management. I liked it much better when it was Dominick's! I believe that the poor management will close the store down within another year. I have been told since they have open they have been through about 3 different managers they just cannot get it together. The turnover is very large. They have a bar in the store also, every time I've been in the store it has had no customers at all. There is a manager there now her name is Brittany I had an issue with her she is very rude and has poor management skills. read more

We used Mariano's Bloomingdale to make a simple cake and cupcakes for my daughter's first birthday that I added some finishing touches to. The cake and cupcakes came out amazing and were SO MUCH cheaper than going through a stand-alone bakery. I deducted a star for customer service though. I didn't find the bakery staff friendly, they are hard to get on the phone to confirm orders, and when I went to confirm my order, it was not correct. It all worked out and the desserts turned out beautiful but customer service was lacking. read more

My ten year old daughter handpainted flower pots for her grandmother for Christmas and we wanted to fill these pots with fresh cooking herbs. I had ordered the herbs from another company but, unfortunately, we found out on December 22 that the herbs didn't come in so I was scrambling. I called 18 different places before I called Marianos and the produce manager told me that, not only did they have the herbs in stock, but he would put them aside for me in the back so I could come get them that night! I was so happy - I told everyone at work that Marianos saved Christmas. I show up around 7 that night to pick up my herbs. I found a produce clerk and told him what I needed and he just blinked at me and wandered off to the back. Okay.....so I found someone else. He said he'd go in the back and look but had no idea what I was talking about. He comes back 10 minutes later to tell me that nobody put the plants in the back like they had promised. Didn't apologize or anything. Great. So I'm stuck with what they have on the floor. 2 of the 3 herbs I needed were dying. Like falling over in their pot. But what could I do? I needed these for my daughters present. I had already called every other store known to man, So I bought them. And they died. My daughter was soooo upset. How embarrassing is it to present a present that you worked really really hard on to a person that you love and have that present be dead? And the kicker - I emailed their website and complained and nobody got back to me. I've been in retail my whole life. People are human and we make mistakes. It's all about how you handle them so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping they would reach out and try and rectify it. But I got nothing. So yeah - not going back. I shop here quite often and love almost everything about this place, but.... 1. Not all employees wear masks. Or they will wear the ones that hang around the neck like a scarf that you pull up, except it will be just down and hanging around their necks only. Or sometimes their noses will be out. It's completely unacceptable and unprofessional. 2. Some of the employees that work there seem to hate working there. They have attitude and role their eyes when you ask things. (Not all of them, some are very nice) I do like that they have a variety of products and dinners that can be bought to be easily prepared for meals. We were at Mariano's last night around 7ish to do our weekly shopping. First time in this location. Where was all the staff? There was no one at the candy station so the store lost some money there from us. The truffles and bark looked pretty tasty. The butcher station was also unmanned. We and another was woman standing there waiting for service. The machine that spits out the ticket numbers was empty too with the red light blinking. The store was pretty empty, none of the employees had time to refill? That just seemed sloppy somehow. We ended up walking away. There was only 2 check-outs open when we were finished. Placed seemed like a graveyard, for one recently opened. I felt the need to post as we've been in other Mariano's and they have a big tendency to have unmanned stations, esp. the bread stations. I see this location is continuing the trend. Despite it being not crowded, the staff should have been even more attentive to the few of us actually in the store. Today i left beacuse the peoduce deptartment was half empty, no exaggeration! All i stopped for was basil. How do they run out of basil? Easily one of the most commonly used herbs. First, the BAKERY SERVICE IS TERRIBLE (per other reviews). I have waited 4-5 minutes multiple times watching 6-7 bakery employees stock shelves and NOT help any of the waiting customers. Are they on strike? Are they trying to look busy? I seriously cannot stand this bakery. Next, the goods are tasty when fresh (their peach pound cake is off the charts), but I do feel that since opening, the service went straight to the gutter and now the baked goods are simply less fresh due to low turnover. Finally, they have a fancy customer ticketing machine that's always broke on the bakery counter with a hand-written, 'out-of-order' sign. It's been like that for months. Can you PLEASE just take it off the shelf?- the thing just reminds me the entire department is 'out-of-order'. UPDATE 8/26/17: Why is checkout hard at this location too? Express checkout is closed half the time and there is always a regular cashier who looks closed with a sign marked as such (so I get in another line), but THEN they accept new customers and I'm stuck somewhere else. This store sells good quality products except for one big problem. Many times sales price doesn't ring up at register even after you put in credentials. This happened to me so frequently that I feel that's their way to rip off customers because many of us don't check price of each item. They give you sales price when asked without even checking because perhaps they know that correct price is not ringing. read more

This location just opened. It is a little bit more than your average Mariano's. They have everything the other locations have. Full grocery, produce, deli, hot and cold food stations, sushi, coffee / Gelato bar, etc, etc, but in addition, they also have an oyster bar and a wine bar. Yes. I went the day of the grand opening and it was just a madhouse there. It seems that people in the area were waiting for this type of store to come and they showed up in force. I wanted to check out the oyster bar but it was just too crowded at the time. I'll have to wait until next time. Anyway, this is a welcome addition to the area. Cheers to All read more

This has been my first experience at a Mariano's. It's new and it's clean. We dined at the food area for dinner tonight and it was pretty busy. I ordered the turkey chipotle sandwich, which was okay. I didn't see a fountain drink area. I think it would be cool to get one of those freestyle machines but I know that may take away the healthy aspect, (aside from the fact that they do sell bottled coke products anyway.) There was a pretty good live pianist playing which was cool. The food court lines were moving pretty well but unfortunately the 20 minute sushi wait turned into an hour so we had to cancel that. I ordered a juice of the day but they were out. It was around 8pm at night so I understand. Instead I ordered the beet berry smoothie but I found a piece of plastic in it. Bleh. At first I thought it was just fruit skin but something made me want to spit it out and examine it. Good thing I did. I called to inform them and the guy at the service desk was apologetic and offered a free smoothie the next time I come in. I did not have the best first time experience but I am cutting them some slack. After all it is opening day. I have heard nothing but good things about the Mariano's chain and I am looking to becoming a regular grocery shopper at this location. They have plenty of store opening coupons so I recommend taking advantage of it. read more

The deli counter at this store is by far the worst in the area. They need a bench for people to sit down at because it is regularly a 20 minute wait at any point in any day. It is always under staffed and the staff that is working moves slower than molasses. I was there on a Tuesday at 1 pm and they were 12+ people deep - how does that happen? Today was no different. Two staff people on a Sunday around 1 pm with no care in the world how fast they get through the line. My husband even overheard another employee say how terrible the deli counter is. Opening day and super busy, but the food was good. Happy the is finally a Mariano's in the neighborhood. Lots of free goodies for the first few weeks like a reusable bag and free gelato. I've held off posting this review for a long time in hopes my verbal comments would reach upper management and we'd see some changes, but that hasn't happened in over 6 months. This is the closest location to my residence but I've started going to Hoffman Estates and Wheaton locations to avoid all the headache. The Bloomingdale Mariano's is totally sub-par. They must not get enough business to restock items because Monday and Tuesday, there are so many missing things. When you walk into a grocery store there are no strawberries, I don't think that's a good sign. ALWAYS missing produce. ALWAYS. The fresh bread was short-lived too - now you get what's there, and don't bother asking anyone to make you something because they'll serve you an eye roll. A few staff members I've interacted with are just rude and lazy. And I'm not just saying that - I am INCREDIBLY PATIENT and actually have a real issue with people who say this without reason. My reason being, I asked a gentleman to help me find something while he was restocking a shelf, and he replied "I don't know, probably in crackers. You have to look." Again, pretty self sufficient over here...if I ask you, it's because I did not see it after scanning shelves for a decent chunk of time. I'd expect someone to at least walk over and check! Not to mention the kid working in the meat department, sniffling and wiping his nose with his gloves as he's helping customers. Dude! Just go in the back and blow your nose, then wash your hands! It wouldn't be fair of me to note that as a regular occurrence, but these are simple health codes...and people remember that stuff. Staff behind counters also really need to be mindful of what they're saying. You should not be poking fun at the physical appearance of a customer as they walk by. Yes, I heard you say something really mean about that woman's physical appearance, and you're at work... My one praise - there is one woman at the deli with dark hair and I absolutely love her. She does overwork herself to make people happy and definitely doesn't get the recognition. I feel really bad for all the staff honestly - it seems like they don't have the resources they need, which causes stress and that stress extends to their customers in a multitude of ways. Makes for an overall bad atmosphere. I say all of these things in hopes someone will read and address them - I'd really like to have a local Mariano's that is professional and presentable. Finally!!! I've been waiting for this to open since I saw the signs about a year ago. The first few weeks were mobbed and I refrained from going until it died down a bit. Granted I went at 8am on a Saturday, so there were not many crowds yet anyway. This location is very similar to the Hoffman estates location, but less taxes (dupage county) and a wine bar and an oyster bar. The food looked fresh and I got some really great prices on some items. I spent about the same here as I do jewel, but enjoy my experience here more the a other grocery stores. My two biggest things I liked were the friendly employees and the fact that nothing was being stocked during the time I was there.
