Ordered delivery for Friday lunch. Had asked for it by 12:15. I have a very hard and fast time for lunch. It didn't arrive until after my lunch proud was over. Not sure if that was a restaurant issue or a delivery driver issue, but it was annoying. I ordered my goto chicken Tikka masala and Naan. Added an order of Aloo paratha. The Food, Found Fairly Good..But Service, Borders On Rude: It was Just a few days ago, that My Beau & I, stopped in here for lunch. I had my misgivings about dining here again, but we went ahead, to see if things had changed, since we last came. We'd had dinner, at this location, a few times before. And, we had always appreciated the clean & elegant setting, & found the food, to be very good. Not so much, the service, & not so friendly mood.. This time around, we stopped in, whilst they were having their buffet...Beau, is not a fan of buffets, at all, but acquiesced to trying their midday spread. Decades ago, we recall, this restaurant, was home to a very gifted chef, who has since left. And we recall, that chef, of long ago, was indulgent with flavoring his fare, with rich & spicy flavor! So much so, weekends were bustling, because of his sumptuous buffets!! Well, that was a different era, & times have changed.. As this present buffet: Is fairly okay. But, for the price point, one cannot truly complain..To illustrate: tandoori chicken, was brought sizzling to our table, but was found, slightly burnt on the outside. However, the naan bread, brought in a basket, was found soft & buttery!! Just as it should be! Whilst the modest lunch array,, consisting of: two varieties of potato appetizers; butter chicken; rice pulao; & an assortment of vegetarian curry dishes, were found to be, fairly good. But, we found the goat curry, to be the best dish on the buffet, flavorful, & rich with soft meat. Afterwards, we sampled the badam halwa & ras gollah sweets. The former: an almond pudding; & the latter: cute balls of cheese dumplings.. The drinks we ordered, were separate from the buffet..Of Beau's mango lassi, I did not inquire, but he made no complaints that it was sour. However, our after dinner brew, of masala tea, Was Pure Sublimity!! Truly, Tea Time, Is Always, The Best Part Of Our Visit!! Too bad, as I wish I could say good things of the service!! As alas, I truly feel, We Are Always, Treated With Indifference!! The boy server, "Did" his job, with as much warmth as an automaton!! This time round too, the owner, seems to reflect:: Such Nonchalance towards us !! Why Is That, & What The H**?, when Beau, Always Tips So Well?! Usually love this place but today food was cold. The tandoori chicken is usually more moist and sizzling when it comes out but onions were barely charred and second one was just on regular plate. So happy we found this lunch buffet! They serve grilled chicken individually so it's fresh every time. Butter chicken, goat curry and many more delicious Indian food to choose from. Lowkey joint with a boba show, eyebrow threading and jollibee all in one corner plaza! The food was bomb, except the chicken samosa, little dry on that. Our waitress was attentive and quick to get us what we needed. We were also the only 2 here on a weekday around 3:30pm. Everything else was great! Overall, a really great experience! This was our first time going to Saffron, and it the first time my boyfriend has had Indian food--I on the other hand have had plenty of it! We both really enjoyed the meal, but what really sent this restaurant apart was the service. Our server made a number of recommendations, was warm and courteous and really went the extra mile to ensure we had a great meal! We stopped in at Saffron for there lunch buffet, as usual it was delicious! The outgoing server kept us fully supplied with Nan (bread), drinks. I had a question about a dish that was there in the buffet and the lady at the table was more then happy to explane what was in the dish. The buffet is a good place to start if you have never had Indian food before, you can sample a little bit of everything. When I first had Indian food I was not to sure I would like it judging from the looks of the food (lots of sauces and colors mixed together). However after eating at Saffron, I don't think there is one item I don't like there, it is all great! Oh ya, my wife said the bathrooms are really clean there also. read more

Really nice! We ordered the veg and non-veg meals, plus a glass of wine. The food was flavorful and the wine poor generous, and the whole meal was $52 for both of us. Had an amazing evening with family at Saffron. The food and service was absolutely fantastic. All the dishes were really flavorful and delicious. Butter Chicken, Madras Chicken, Dal Tadka, Veg Thali, and a few other dishes w/ parathas and naan. The breads were amazing and everything was served perfectly. The deserts are very good also. The restaurant kindly waited for 50 minutes past closing for the grub hub pickup driver. They called us as courtesy and told us our food had been ready but not picked up. We reordered for dinner open time and are grateful for the restaurants kindness. Food: Murg Makani- Butter Chicken. Amazing creamy tomato with soft perfectly cooked chicken. There's a reason it's the 5th time we have ordered from them. Hyderabadi Kabab- succulent pieces of lamb, to be perfectly honest has been great 2/3 times. But one time was over cooked. Naan- soft, fluffy and delicious. Gosht Madras- soft succulent lamb in Southern style coconut milk, very different flavor and distinctly delicious. This place was great. Flavors really hit the spot. Kids enjoyed the paneer pakora and the Bhel was really good too. The paneer curries were delicious and overall the food was very good. Note that they do not have sweet or salty laasi. They only have mango laasi. Service was friendly, masked, and quick. Came in for lunch because we've really enjoyed this restaurant before. Today was such a disappointment! We could've had the buffet, but we chose instead to order off the regular menu because we know what we like best, and we have enjoyed it here in the past. The lamb samosas were on the dry side, and they were a bit bland. The breads were excellent, but my chicken tikka masala was sooo wrong! It looked strange with a ton of what looked like cilantro flakes- they were dark green, but they were flavorless. The whole dish was flavorless. It had none of the layers of flavor and spice that I'm used to- it was basically a pale orange cream sauce. I don't know if they gave me butter chicken, but there was no flavor in the sauce whatsoever. I normally love to take my leftovers home, and I guard them selfishly- I ate the chicken (some of which was spongy) and I did not take the sauce home for the first time ever in my life. It was that bad. The lovely owner did not seem to be present- don't know if that mattered. Maybe they have a new chef? I don't know. I don't think we will return, which is a huge bummer because we used to love this place. read more

Saffron goes above and beyond in every aspect of what a dining experience should be. Super friendly staff that always ensure your experience is as perfect as the last. They do a great job of explaining the menu items and always ask about your preferred spice level! It is also refreshing seeing the owner there being hands on and greeting customers. It's the little things that Saffron does so well outside the delicious food that really leave a lasting impression. Now the food: Nothing comes close to the level of fresh quality ingredients you can taste in every bite! Being a huge fan of Indian Food, it's safe to say I have tried almost every Indian joint the Chicagoland area and Saffron is hands down the best! The dishes come out hot and with the amazing fresh naan there's nothing more one can ask for! Our favorites are the Paneer Makhani, Paneer Bhurji, and finally the special Mathai mali Corn! I want to preface this review by saying that it is solely about the service (or lack thereof) that I got from this restaurant. My boyfriend and I have been eyeing this place for a few weeks and have been dying to try it out because some people left such great reviews for it. We decided to come in on a Wednesday at 4 pm for an early dinner. When we walked to the door, we noticed that they had not just one, but TWO signs that state they are "OPEN". We walked in and waited by the front door to be seated. There were two men sitting at one of the tables just talking, but otherwise this place was a ghost town. One of the men looked at us and called for someone. A young man came over to us, which is when we asked for a table for two. He asked us if we had a reservation, to which we said no. That is when he stated that we needed a reservation to eat at the restaurant. I just want to know WHY I need to make a reservation for a restaurant when there are literally no customers in there. Why even put TWO open signs on the doors? When I looked on their website, there was nowhere that said that you needed a reservation to eat here. Not only that, but when I pressed on the "reservations" tab on the website, it just states "Send us a message and we will get back to you". It just makes zero sense why we needed to make one. It seemed like they didn't want to serve us food. All in all, I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. I wanted to try this place very badly, but as a result of my experience thus far, I don't think I will ever come back. Don't even bother with this place unless you're going to make a "reservation" ahead of time for a completely empty restaurant. read more

This is a restaurant I've been having my eye on, and I'm so glad I finally went! Indian food is such a treat since I don't have it often and Saffron did not disappoint. They were not very busy when we went either, so definitely Covid friendly considering the closest people to use were over 20ft away. My friend and I usually get a spread of things to share, and this was no exception. We got the following: - Appetizer platter 5/10 for this. But trust me, everything else makes up for this fumble. It's essentially just a plate of fried things. Not really my cup of tea. - Lamb Vindaloo 9/10. This was incredibly rich and flavorful. I was hesitant to get this because I didn't really want anything too spicy that night, but this was just right. Slightly spicy but mostly just delicious. - Chicken Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) 10/10. Now, I love butter chicken. It was a college go-to from a cheap Indian restaurant near campus. Well let me tell you that this is the real good, authentic butter chicken, not the cheap college butter chicken. Will always get this. - Saffron Special Farsi Bhaji 11/10. Honestly this is one of the best dishes I've ever had? Which is weird because it's a green bean dish. Not what you would expect from me. It has this thick, slightly coconutty sauce and if my friend weren't there, I would've eaten the whole dish. Definitely go here! On top of the great food the service was also good. Since moving to Illinois we've tried several Indian restaurants but Saffron has been our favorite. While no shortage of Indian options in this area, the food here is seasoned well and the chicken is tender. We really like the chicken sagwala and chana masala. What can I say about this place...AMAZING!!! How this place is not packed every night boggles the imagination!!! I've been here twice already and I have to tell you that not only is the service awesome and the beer cold, but the FOOD...OH MY FRIGGIN GOD THE FOOD!!! The first time we came here we had the Special Dinner (enough food for two btw) and it was ON POINT!!! Then tonight we had the Fish Tikka Masala and a Okra fish of some kind that was beyond...just BEYOND DUDE!!! The Naan bread is a must have staple to transport you straight into flavor country. The people here are super friendly, the music takes you away into a zone of tranquility marveled only by a lullaby from a native land. We just ate at saffron restaurant and let me tell you it was delicious. It was about 3 PM and we were the only ones in the restaurant but we were welcomedin by the owner. We were seated and we're given ice cold glass of ice water and menus they have many Indian specialties and the prices were very good as well. We enjoyed butter chicken, Murg badami, Basmati rice, three types of naan bread, one was a regular naan than a garlic naan and then a chili tomato garlic naan. We also had a chicken pakora, that had to be the best we've ever tasted. My son also tried an Indian coffee but he did not care for it. All the dishes were served piping hot, all the chicken was boneless and everything was spiced perfectly. The non-bread was so hot you couldn't touch it, that made it that much better. The owner talked with us throughout the meal he was very kind, we were discussing Covid in the effects on the restaurant industry. Our host was most congenial and most humble. He appreciated our business and we appreciated his kindness and nice demeanor. They used to have a buffet but like most everyone else they can't have those anymore. But let me tell you the prices were more than fair and the quality of food is very high and the quantity of food left us completely full. I highly recommend this Indian restaurant I believe it is also Pakistani as well. Everything we ate tasted great was piping hot and served quickly.
