Though this is the only Jewel I will shop at anymore, I might want to rethink this fact. This past weekend I was in the store at about 6:05, after waiting at the deli counter for an additional 5-7 minutes because there was no-one behind the counter, someone finally appeared. I was told, very rudely, "You will just have to wait, I'm not ready yet!" On-line shopping is absolutely awful. They lure you in with these specials, buy one, get one free, I have been a customer for about six months, I have yet to receive "the get one free" after I buy one. The produce I receive is usually on its last leg as far as freshness is concerned. And if you bring these shortcomings to customer service, they are downright rude and offer no help. read more

I requested several Instacart shoppers to go to the Jewel and all of them declined. One of them I happen to know and so I texted her. Why did you decline and she said because that jewel never ever ever in this morning time has check out lanes open they only have the 15 item or less lane open. And it takes a long time to do self check out since they don't have a proper set up that allows you to unload the groceries and check them out so you have to juggle everything in the cart. And that is exactly the case only the 15 and under checkout line is open and it's very difficult to pack your groceries because you have to keep things in the cart and pull them out strategically with the bags. I complained about this at the end and they said you have to let go that lane well I'm sorry but an Instacart shopper is not going to call the store and ask prior if they can go in that lane there needs to be a sign that says that you can go in that lane if you have 15 or more items. I get home and the eyedrop I paid for not even in the bag and they want to give me a hassle about how they'll have to check the cameras to see where they went. People who do grocery shopping and buy a lot of groceries. Do not want to do self check out. Your lanes are not set up for that. You need a much bigger space to unload your groceries to then rev them into the carts. read more

Deli counter is woefully understaffed (or badly staffed with employees who are not very good). Store management knows and yet, week after week, does nothing about it. Just today, they lost out on a $20+ purchase because I got tired of waiting for my turn to get served. Very aggravating. read more

I alternate between local grocery stores. I give this a leg up due to the pharmacy staff and 24 hour service there. I've been very happy with their care and responsiveness. As for the store, produce section is always neat and organized. Meat counter folks always willing to help. They tend to have items in stock. Place smelled like the rotten seafood in the case. The produce was beaten. Employees weren't helpful at all and the one employee has sweat dripping into the food. Never will go here again the health department needs to get to this location ASAP. read more

Worst grocery ever. Deli counter is a sh*t show, 5 people back there no one knows anything. 20-30 minutes anytime you go there for 3 items even if there are no other customers there. Picked up a Rotisserie chicken there today cut into when I got home and it was RAW. Shelves not stocked, sales items out day one of sale and when they do stock shelves it seems to be at very busy times blocking aisles. Must self check out unless you want to spend even more time there waiting for 1 of the 2 lanes that actually have a cashier. This specific store hasn't been good in years but especially bad the last couple years, getting worse with no sign of improvement. My review is more in regards to the pharmacy.I've used about every pharmacy in Bloomingdale and every one has been a disappointment,from long wait times,incorrect messages that medication was ready, to bad attitudes,to "back order" medications,I've dealt with it all. I only come here because it's close to home. The quality of the meats are not great at all. 1 out of 5 times you may get lucky with a decent steak. The bacon is 85 percent fat. Wonderful store! The place is always clean, well-stocked, and well-organized and convenient. Employees are easy to find throughout the store, which makes it easier when you need to ask them a question about something. The staff here works miracles by juggling the needs of both tourist and local consumers while also maintaining a safe and stocked store in a neighborhood that sometimes presents challenges. I love Jewel for their sales. Soda, dairy, frozen items and canned goods are amongst my favorite Jewel purchases. I often purchase their jewel brand shredded cheese when it's on sale 2 for $4.00. Liquor department is fairly extensive but I found out on our most recent visit that they do not carry the pomegranate pre-mixed margarita mix. :( Wide selection of greeting cards and flowers. I always shop here. Plenty of parking and great location close to a nice strip mall. I've been coming here for a long time and know locations of store items very well. If you're new here you may have a hard time finding someone to help you. They used to open 24/7 but now they close at 1 am. They have a vast collection of healthy and organic foods. They have various high quality organic meats and vegan options too. The only issue is there is always someone at the entrance - loud pushy - asking for "5 minutes" of your time. I stopped shopping at the Jewel on Roselle and Wise because it is so bad. Meat, produce, service, ambiance, all pretty bad. I switched to Jewel on Bloomingdale and Army Trail hoping for better. I can say the meat, produce, ambiance is all better including selection. But service, not any better. The checkers are slow and don't seem to speak. Today, only 2 lanes open with lines 4 customers deep. Self check was crowded as well caused by self checkers with full carts were forced there backing it up. Went yesterday for some acid reducer. I thought I found what I wanted but then noticed the expire date was 2/2022. That's a year and a half. Looked through them all and found the same date. So I don't go here very often. The prices are a bit higher than places like Woodman's. But I like their fried chicken. The fried chicken has been pretty good lately. Guessing they updated their batter. I like it a lot. Unfortunately they didn't have any, due to lent, yesterday, so I bought the chicken tenders. These were not so good. The batter was good. The chicken had a good crunch. But the chicken itself was pretty dry. Not sure if the tenders are always dry or if it's been sitting too long. Either way I won't be buying the tenders any more. I cannot say any negative things about the store. on my recent visit, the store was clean and bright. Selections are well-organized and most of the items are well stocked. They got bunch of sales and it is not too high but it is not bad as well, and I it is a great thing to save a few dollars. They have a wide selection of cereals which is a very important food in our home and it is included on the items that are on sale which is really wonderful. It is not crowded inside and I was able to checked out fast. I had an awesome grocery shopping and I must say better than the last time. read more

I was here recently since I was in the area. It's a nice friendly Jewel. It's larger than most Jewels I visited but there's a lot less people than I would think would be there. I'm not the biggest fan of huge grocery stores. I've pretty much started shopping exclusively at the SuperTarget by us for everyday groceries and other goods, and then I stop into smaller, local shops for specialty items or I occasionally go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's for one or two things I have trouble finding elsewhere. This Jewel-Osco is very close to home and it's open 24 hours. I'll pop in late at night, usually when I'm sick, to grab a bottle of honey and cough drops. Sometimes I go to get loaves of bread because I like their fresh bread a lot more than Target. I really only shop here about once or twice every few months, but I've noticed the selection and service has become better over time. They recently remodeled and things are easier to locate. The employees are a lot nicer, too. I've even discovered that their meat selection has expanded and I purchased some good cuts for a lot less than at the grocer I've been going to. Granted, the grocer (Lemon Tree Grocer) has better quality meat, so I won't be replacing them with Jewel, but at least I know there's a cheaper alternative for when I have to have a steak but can't dish out $15 for it. read more

I have never really had any major problems with this location, I normally spend a lot of time in the floral section buying flowers for my girlfriend over food but nevertheless I get around the store from time to time. I recently visited this jewel location to do some grocery shopping and upon walking in, my first stop was the produce. I knew I wanted some strawberries so I made my way over to the strawberries and upon inspecting the berries, I start noticing some mold. And from there container after container traces of mold. Until I literally filled half a cart with containers of strawberries. Before I know it. There were no strawberries left. So I roll my cart over to the customer service desk and tell the woman there and she calls for the produce manager. He comes strolling over with a idiotic look on his face. (Now I know why all these strawberries had mold on them). I tell him and he just shrugs it off and says thanks. Now I'm not a picky or difficult person but it seems pretty crucial to check your produce for any mold or other signs of it rotting. Needless to say still a great location but I'm going to steer clear of their fruit from that location. read more

Just an FYI, used the self checkout station for the first time in a while. In the past every other station was closed for social distancing. Today not so. LOVE: + Organized, well-stocked, and clutter free + Carts (and baskets) are always stocked and not running awry in the lots, regardless of time of day or year + Good organic produce selection: Apples, sometimes grapes, zucchini, cabbage, bell peppers, limes, green onion, tomatoes... also oranges, bananas, avocados... + Good variety of eggs: I can purchase cheaper Sweatshop eggs ($1- $2.20 doz) or Happy Chicken eggs (for $3.40- $5) + Friendly employees: Had a cashier call me by name (after I bought alcohol/paid with my card) and the 2-3 returns I've done have been hassle-free. An employee in the flower department once took my "Do you have a larger vase?" question and rifled through every cabinet she had, and cranked out a price tag, AND was insanely patient as I mulled over sizes and colors. She was super sweet. DISLIKE: - Unfriendly employees: I like to get in/out quick and Self Checkout is my usual. (Even with produce - super easy to key in those 4-digit codes!) Christmas Eve I got to the second item and had an issue with the censor not picking up my bagged carrots. I raised my hand for help and began indicating the carrots were rung AND on the belt. The cashier/monitor instead started telling me my watermelon wasn't a "personal" size and was not $3.99. Huh? I was confused (and the carrots were my issue...). "That's not a personal watermelon - those are $8.99/lb!" "Okay...but I didn't see any other watermelons and no $8.99 sign.." It was the same size as the others, and I chose it because it was oblong/easier to then cut.. but okies. So I went back and check the sign, THEN asked a (VERY nice) employee in produce. (There was a 2nd oblong/apparently $8.99 watermelon at the bottom of the pile, btw..) And then started all over again at the checkout. Annoying and frustrating, especially given the nuttiness of that day anyway. I was waiting at the Service Desk today to do a return and saw the same employee, again manning the self checkout. An obviously pretty new teen boy was just arriving for his shift. He looked at her like a deer in headlights as she told him where he was to go/who to report to (presumably to do paperwork ) ..and after, "Oh, I'm So-and-So, by the way." I felt bad for the kid, and wished he got a warmer reception. So yeaaahhh, I went with the cashier who called me by name instead. I went to check our and this young man had his mask down around his chin. I tried to make a joke hoping he would get the hint. He would have nothing to do with it. For over a decade I have seen steady decline in quality of customer service at this particular location. Store is clean and well organized but you are going to bottleneck by the registers, you see 3-4 people helping by the automated check outs and 2 registers open for regular check out. While before you would see someone hustle and quickly open up few more registers to ease up the traffic now you see the manager with blind stare and no care at all. Their prices are high, service is so-so and by default we are going to search for another grocery store. Typical jewel store. You all know how jewel is so I'll post what stands out from the norm. First, it's a bigger jewel, the kind with the newer broad store face, Altho I suspect it's a building that's at least 10 years old considering the wear. The aisles are clean. Individual products will have gluten-free stamped on the shelf if applicable got those with that issue. The bathrooms are clean but well used. You gotta look to find them. read more

I am a long-time customer of this store. Giving this store a 2 star rating for the following reason: The baggers in the checkout line. They complain about "having to work until 6:00 p.m.", gripe about their jobs, and several times I had a conveyor belt full of groceries and the bagger just ups and leaves. Where is the bagger? Busy socializing with some of their friends by the Customer Service Desk. If I wish to bag my own groceries, I will go to one of the cut-rate grocery stores. BTW, this is a union shop. The pharmacy and the rest of the people working in the various departments are great. Going to take a pass on shopping at this Jewel-Osco store for a while. This past year, a new grocery store opened in Bloomingdale, Illinois and when you shop there, they can't do enough for you. read more
