In a word ; YUCK ! They only make one meat choice of sandwich - so you might think that they would be the best at it but sadly NO ! I purchased a half and was offered a few toppings to customize the sub and then the woman turned around and walked to the cooler and pulled out a pre-assembled sandwich wrapped in plastic . What a let down ! The meat is a bologna , salami hybrid with bad texture straight out of a 1970's school lunchroom . The tomatoes were almost liquified . I have lived in Ruskin since 1995 so I'm a local and I have asked around with my neighbors if they have tried this sandwich and we all agree it's bad . I think they must have their family review them to keep up the star average . P.S. The bread was bad too ! It was the first time I have ordered food and thrown it all away . read more

Probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten, I have been going to Marian's since I was a little kid and the the taste has remained the same and the crew working behind the counter always friendly, the menu makes me laugh every time I walk in, instead of listing the choices in different foods it list what's on the one sandwich, the wait time is only about 15 mins and it's worth it for a huge sandwich that cost about 10 dollars, but watch out it can be a little spicy read more

Marian's is certainly unique. It is a guilty pleasure we might take out once a month or so. They are tasty, soggy, and unlikely to be healthy.. (So what in moderation.) Only 1 kind of sub that can be customized with hot or mild peppers. The 2 ladies that work there are 'interesting', but may turn off some people. It is a one of a kind place with a one of kind sub. They only sell one sub and it's so great they've survived and stayed in business over 50 years with just this one sub. I personally have been eating Marian's sub since I was a little kid at Ruskin Elementary - so about 45 years. The large sub is enough for two. Get it all the way with extra peppers! Visiting from Orlando, I was looking for some good local restaurants to eat. I'm a huge fan of subs/sandwiches so I knew I had to check this joint out. I stupidly didn't read previous reviews that the only sandwich they offer is Italian. I initially walked out, as I was hoping for some variety. While sitting in my car, I thought to myself, "there's probably a reason why this is the only variety sold here." I'm not sure what it is about this sub, but whatever it is, it works. Like others have said, there is one kind of sub; your choices are whole or half and hold this or that standard topping. But if the sub you offer is as good as this one, you can get away with extremely limiting customers' choices. Part of the appeal is the oven they use and the way they brown the edges of the salami. Also their unique hot pepper chips. I get a hankering for that sub every now and then, and nothing else will do. Highly recommended! Definitely worth the drive from I-75 for travelers--give the chains a miss and try a unique local institution! read more

Marian ' s has been in the same location & building on Hwy. 41, for soon many years, I have no idea, at least 20. With restaurants closing dailiy, where else can you find a line for a hole in the wall that only serves 1 sandwich? Marian ' s in Ruskin. They have made the same Italian sub sandwich & that is it since it opened. You have a choice of 8 or 16 inch. The 8 will fill you up, bit I always get the 16", for the next day. The bread is fresh, fillings fresh & ample, service the same 2 older women, the owners, I presume. Depending on the day & time, you may have a wait. Boaters line up to get sandwiches to take fishing, people watching sports ...& just hungry folk like you & I. You can depend on a damp good Italian sub & quality & consistency is always stable. I am writing this review even though Marian's has caused a major problem at my house. I have live in Ruskin for over 10 years and had not gone there. So one day I picked up two subs, one for my son, one for me and they are great. just great, now my son is mad that he had to grow up (he is twenty) and I could have been providing subs for the last decade. Better than Hot Tomato and comparable to Mazzaros in St. Pete. Remember they have only one type of sub. I am trying to make this up to my son by going every week and getting subs. I hope this does not cause long term damage to him. read more

I traveled over 45 minutes to get dinner at this sub shop and was so excited to try it. Because of the horrible Brandon/Ruskin traffic, I didn't make it to Marian's until 6:40PM. I did not realize that they closed at 7PM until I walked in the door and they refused to serve me and my family because they were already "closed". Mind you, the door was unlocked and all of the lights were still on. I'm so disappointed and will not return. read more

Great subs! They only have one kind, italian style, but you can remove any toppings you don't want. The cheese is gooey and the bread nice and crunchy from being toasted. It's so flavorful and one of the best subs I've ever had. read more

Wow, what a delicious surprise this place was! I stopped by on a whim (while on the way to Subway down the street) and I am so glad I did. Don't let the one sandwich in the menu deter you, because it is delicious perfection. I would absolutely eat here again because the sandwich is huge, delicious, and cheap! REALLY disappointed in Marion's subs! First they fixed my sub (Ordered it with no onions no peppers, I'm allergic to Jalapeno peppers). My husband took it back and she pulled the peppers off and went to re-wrap the same sandwich for him to bring home. He told her that wouldn't work and asked her to remake it. She said "I made it just like you ordered it!" refused to remake it and refused to give his money back. Told him that if he wanted her to remake it, he would have to pay for it AGAIN!. I have done business with this place since back when Marion herself ran it. NEVER AGAIN will I set foot in that place. I called and explained that I was allergic and so it needed to be remade. I tool got "I made it like he ordered it!" Very nasty person, so needless to say I got nasty right back. I just wanted ppl to know what to expect if they get food there.. Same sandwich for 46 years! Salami, ham, & provolone cheese toasted on a large hoagie roll 8 or 16 inches. Add your choice of toppings lettuce, tomato, peppers, pickles, oil, oregano, or onions. If you can handle the peppers i recommend them as it adds a measure of heat to this excellent sub. This is an excellent place for a great tasting sandwich. A local favorite. read more

I just recently moved to Florida and heard about this place from a neighbor and I have to say I was fairly disappointed. I came in looking and one of the women who was behind the counter just sat there and looked at us without greeting or anything. My daughter and I had to wait to be served by another woman who did an awesome job. The other woman on the other hand definitely has no customer service . Marion's Subs is the first place I ever bought a sub sandwich from. I think that was in 1980. I still think they have one of the best sub sandwiches I ever tasted. They only sell one type sandwich, you can choose the size, half or whole, and you can choose your toppings. It is a very simple sandwich, but it really packs a lot of flavor.
