We had a pretty solid overall experience here, though it didn't quite reach that "can't wait to come back" level. I ordered the turkey club, which was good, fresh and satisfying, but not especially memorable. My wife tried the disco fries, which were decent, but at $17 they felt way overpriced for what you get. On the flip side, her French toast was really enjoyable and probably the standout dish of the meal. Our daughter ordered the kids chicken nuggets, and that was honestly the best value by far. She got a generous portion plus ice cream for $9, which felt like a great deal and made her very happy. Well.... We returned for dinner on a Monday evening and this time it didn't go well. Partner got the Patty Melt - ordered "no pink". Arrived very pink and mushy. Had to be remade. My son got a pancake with a side of breakfast ham. Ham looked off - weird color, greasy. My son ended up with stomach cramps and vomited outside in the parking lot. I got eggs, corned beef hash, grits. Grits inedible, stomach ache when we arrived home. Prices were too high for the experience. I ordered a kids' apple juice that cost $4.95, and there were no free refills, so two small juices ended up costing nearly $10. After paying my bill and leaving a tip, I was driving down the road when I received a notification that my card had been charged a **$40 tip**, which was more than three times the amount I had actually left. I immediately called the restaurant, and the manager stated that it was a standard hold on my card until they closed out their books at midnight. She provided me with her phone number, but she never answered any of my follow-up calls. Then, two days later, an additional charge of **$115** was processed on top of the original $75 bill. I have disputed all of the charges with my credit card company, but this situation needs to be addressed immediately to prevent it from happening to other customers. Horrible experience! read more

The shrimp Alfredo from here is one of the best things I've eaten all year. Shrimp were cooked & seasoned perfectly, the pasta saucy & garlicky. Mmm mm. Loved that the entree came with choice of soup or salad. I got a soup. They also have two for $10 drink specials. The drinks in the promo are wine-based, I tried the piña colada and the Bloody Mary. After a 48 hour key west express trip to key west, we got home late and starving. Decided to try this diner open 24 hours at 12:30am. It was amazing! So bright and clean. We're originally from NY and were so excited to find a NY style diner near home. Went in eager and hungry with big smiles! We were seated quickly by a friendly young lady and the atmosphere was perfect, stained glass lights, advertisement placemats under glass table tops, neon, and menu was large with a wide array of choices like any NY diner would - SCORE! Exactly what we were missing from back home. Then, our server came to the table and it all fell apart, and while I know that everyone is entitled to a bad day, the attitude and demeanor of this waitress was horrendous. No smile, no greeting, literally just mumbled 'you know what you want' ? She was visibly annoyed that I hadn't decided in the 3 minutes we'd been seated (it was a big menu and I was happily scanning each page, trying to decide). My husband asked if the souvlaki was lamb and she replied 'say what'?, so he asked again and got an eye roll along with the answer (that it was chicken). Yikes. He decided to go with the gyro platter and reported it was great! Portion was a good size and everything looked fresh and was delicious. I decided on the Greek fries with all the fixings, which sounded delicious, I did notice when served they didn't have all the toppings mentioned and I was given salsa, I wasn't worrying about the missing olives or onions, but I really wanted the tzatziki - I flagged her down, and mentioned that I thought I might have gotten the wrong sauce and she shrugged and said 'that's what the girl told me it came with, salsa, i dunno, I ain't never served this before'. She then brought it, or I should say dropped it on the table seemingly irritated that I questioned it at all. This was a pleasant surprise. I turned around because of the words New York Diner and open 24 hours! It does have a diner atmosphere but to be honest, I haven't been to New York in ages. Bose speakers are on the wall and I heard some rock songs come on. I will say the famous wings were phenomenal and the home made blue cheese dressing on the side was a nice combo. The waitress might be a little biased in her assessment these are the best wings in the area. I haven't been to many wing places but these were excellent! The sauce makes the wings and you can actually combine the blue cheese with the sauce the wings already have and you have a new taste. I'm not even a fan of blue cheese but this was great. In addition they gave me a complimentary cucumber salad that I was also impressed with. I will say that it was a little sweet but I like that. The banana split I ordered I had to make some changes to the scoops they were going to provide. I switched to Cookie Monster, butter pecan and I can't remember the third one but I saw the wait staff were being overwhelmed so I gently asked the new waitress to make those changes for me. It was good ice cream. I wish I would've said hold the Hershey's syrup because I'm not a fan, otherwise the ice cream was great. The only downsides I might see here is that they need more people working in the restaurant. I have the time to wait so that doesn't bother me but if you are in a hurry, it is something to be aware of. This isn't a gourmet restaurant, it is a diner and good food can be eaten here. Loved the ambiance inside. Very 50s diner vibes. Their selection was almost too much to choose from but I chose the steak and Alfredo. The server gave free empanadas to our whole table which was nice. Service was excellente but the food not so much. Had their appetizer nachos which feeds a family of four! As for their Alfredo it was straight cheese and feel like it was missing a lot of key ingredients. The steak was okay and mildly seasoned but feel like I could make a better steak at home. My mother and father have been here before and it is close to a resemblance of our old Jersey diners... New York Diner... makes sense, right? But the service was dreadfully slow. The sign out front shows they are in need of cooks, wait-staff, etc. My mother was on the verge of paying for the coffee and milkshake we had and leaving because things took so long. The place is cute, homey, and comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly and it was apparent she was overworked. She could not make the food arrive any faster than she could so none of this was on her. When the food finally arrived my country-fried steak was tough like leather and only about half of one egg was over easy... the other half was medium and the other egg was over hard. The country gravy was Delicious. I don't know if it was homemade but it had a perfect consistency. Had the meat been fresher or thicker, less tough, it would have been perfect. Overall I would be willing to give this location another visit on my next trip down to Apollo Beach (providing they are not still in such need of staff) if for nothing else the friendliness of the staff and the comfortable feel of the diner itself. read more

They're food is good no doubt but one thing I can't stand is that seasoning they put on your french fries, it is horrible!! it takes the flavor out of your fries. I don't understand why they put that on there thinking it tastes good it does not taste good, and I really wish they would either remove it completely or ask if you want it, give you that choice. There's times I ask to remove it and yet my fries still come with it on . I cannot eat it, it is so nasty I'm sorry but that is not a seasoning for french fries. read more

Looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but has an old skool vibe inside. I went early one Sunday morning and there were just a few people already seated. My table was nice and clean and Sasha greeted me with a warm smile. She took my order it arrived quickly and accurately. It was just a sandwich but was very tasty. Prices are extremely reasonable. I haven't been here since it was Popi's, and it appears not much has changed inside. There is still a daily special board and the set up looks the same, less the cash register. Our server was friendly, but non-attentive......at all. The breakfast menu is extensive, but I wanted lunch. The lunch menu is equally large,but I wanted something light and settled on cheese quesadillas. There were 4 of us and everyone else got simple omelettes, but we waited really long for food. Server never came by with more coffee. When food finally arrived, we realized we didn't have silverware, so that took more time. Food wasn't hot, which was disappointing. The biscuit was the best part of the meal. The omelette and potatoes were barely warm and the cheese and ham were scant. The omelette had very little flavor. Overall Value - Average. The prices are reasonable and it is possible that, had I ordered something different, I might have be reasonably satisfied with my meal and experience. food was absolutely great, I asked to swap my cheese on the philly cheese steak omelette for feta and i was told I can but when I got my check I had a $2.50 charge that I was not informed, my waiter fortunately apologized but I still ended up paying the $2.50 extra. all that aside, i got hash browns and those were amazing! the biscuits was soft and didn't crumble apart, it all was SO flavorful and tasted very well made. The Philly cheese steak with feta was so desirable and I am already wanting another one, just not willing to pay $18 for it... the ~$15 price tag is more reasonable for my liking. The potatoes were seasoned with a good bit of pepper but still good. Asked for toast and she brought that out, the bread they used was fantastic. My biggest mistake was trying the biscuit! My wife and I are night owls who recently moved to Ruskin so it was inevitable that we would eventually find ourselves at Uncle Joe's. We had heard good things about it but our experience surpassed our expectations. In addition to fast, friendly service we were treated to some complimentary beef empanadas with cucumber salad as "something new that the kitchen is working on". The empanadas were wonderful with a light, flaky crust and accompanied by a hot-and-sweet sauce based on what may have been (??) Carolina Reaper peppers. The only criticism we have is that my wife's dish (a rice bowl with chicken) was too sweet. This is a common problem for many Asian-themed dishes. Their menu is enormous, however, and we are looking forward to exploring it. We had some misgivings about moving to Ruskin which, to be honest, is a bit of a cultural backwater. However the presence of a 24-hour diner that serves good/interesting food has done a lot to make us feel better about our decision. read more

Don't think for a second that this is just "Diner" food. This is THE HIGHEST QUALITY FOOD I've eaten outside of a real home-cooked meal. I've tried a variety of Uncle Joe's menu items and every single one blew me away. In fact, even when I go in to pick up carry-out, I hear customers nearby saying "this is the best thing I've ever had." The staff are extremely personable, fun and friendly. Honestly the ambiance of this place makes you feel like you've come to a giant family gathering with quality, home-cooked meals by grandma. On March 9, 2025, we went in to get a to go order or Philly Cheesesteak and chicken wings. First, our receipt showed a 7.5% of sales tax. The sales tax is now 6.5% in Hillsborough county started January 1, 2025. So I don't know why the business is still charging their customers 7.5% sales tax or where the 1% illegal sales tax is going. Second, they add a 10% gratuity automatically even with to go orders. Lastly, their price is lower if you paid cash, so we paid cash. However, the waitress decided to keep the change even though we already paid a mandatory gratuity and an illegal extra 1% sales tax. When we asked where our change was, the waitress just smiled.
