    French Toast with eggs

The menu is huge! So many things to pick from. Our food was really good. We both ordered breakfast. I loved my Old Fashioned French Toast. It was cooked just right. I also had scrambled eggs. My husband had the Stromboli omelette and enjoyed every bite. Our waitress was good as she checked on us several times. The ambience was just right. I would definitely come back.

You haven't lived if you haven't had the chicken and waffles at uncle Joe's New York dinner. This place is another hidden hen of Ruskin. Can't wait to go back and try more items off the menu.

The food was hot and made to order fresh and the service was excellent. They treated us to a free empanada as an extra sampler. Wonderful clean environment.

We live in Riverview and will gladly drive down to Ruskin to eat at this dinner. My wife really loves this place. We've been coming to this place before it changed ownership. The diner was formerly Popi's Place, a well-known family-owned chain in the region, with a long history of serving Greek/American comfort food. After the change in ownership, the new management kept the menu largely the same, maintaining the classic diner offerings that regulars appreciate Parking is convenient, with spaces available around the building and in the back, making access easy even during busy times. I will say the staff is attentive and efficient, contributing to a welcoming, homey atmosphere that I enjoy and the place is always clean. Prices at this dinner are moderate to low compared to other dinners. The menu is straightforward, with traditional breakfast choices like eggs, bacon, corned beef hash, potatoes or grits, and toast, making it easy for guests to find familiar favorites. This morning, my wife ordered 2 eggs and bacon, and I had the corned beef hash and eggs. Their breakfast comes with potatoes or grits, we normally go for the potatoes, and you also get your choice of toast. Portions are generous, with ample servings ensuring you leave satisfied-a hallmark of the diner's appeal. If there was a complaint, it would probably be that the potatoes were not seasoned, personally, I was ok with it since I normally put ketchup on my potatoes and or could always just add salt and pepper to it. But other than that, I have no other complaints of this dinner. As I said, We drive from Riverview to eat at this dinner. Now, although they do have a lunch and dinner menu, we have only gone there for breakfast. Conclusion: The Ruskin diner, with its roots as Popi's Place, continues to deliver the classic diner experience: friendly service, a clean environment, generous portions, and reasonable prices. The unchanged menu ensures longtime patrons still find their favorites, and the breakfast offerings, in particular, make it a must-visit spot-even worth the drive from Riverview. This diner remains a reliable, welcoming choice for anyone seeking a satisfying, homestyle meal.

We had impeccable service by Chris, that was by far the best part of the breakfast. He was friendly, efficient, and gave us such good service it was like he knew our needs before we had to ask! We also had delicious food with hearty servings that were made quickly, served hot and exact. The place was clean and decorated as a diner would be expected. The menu is simple yet has soooooo many options. Definitely will be back!

After a 48 hour key west express trip to key west, we got home late and starving. Decided to try this diner open 24 hours at 12:30am. It was amazing! So bright and clean. The food was top notch, chicken & waffles could feed a family of 3, they also treat you to a complimentary empanada also delicious. Turkey ham club and Greek fries were simply delicious. This is truly a hidden gem if you haven't tried it you MUST. Service excellent!

We're originally from NY and were so excited to find a NY style diner near home. Went in eager and hungry with big smiles! We were seated quickly by a friendly young lady and the atmosphere was perfect, stained glass lights, advertisement placemats under glass table tops, neon, and menu was large with a wide array of choices like any NY diner would - SCORE! Exactly what we were missing from back home. Then, our server came to the table and it all fell apart, and while I know that everyone is entitled to a bad day, the attitude and demeanor of this waitress was horrendous. No smile, no greeting, literally just mumbled 'you know what you want' ? She was visibly annoyed that I hadn't decided in the 3 minutes we'd been seated (it was a big menu and I was happily scanning each page, trying to decide). My husband asked if the souvlaki was lamb and she replied 'say what'?, so he asked again and got an eye roll along with the answer (that it was chicken). Yikes. He decided to go with the gyro platter and reported it was great! Portion was a good size and everything looked fresh and was delicious. I decided on the Greek fries with all the fixings, which sounded delicious, I did notice when served they didn't have all the toppings mentioned and I was given salsa, I wasn't worrying about the missing olives or onions, but I really wanted the tzatziki - I flagged her down, and mentioned that I thought I might have gotten the wrong sauce and she shrugged and said 'that's what the girl told me it came with, salsa, i dunno, I ain't never served this before'. She then brought it, or I should say dropped it on the table seemingly irritated that I questioned it at all. Anyway, they were good crisp fries and I enjoyed my meal, but sadly she really destroyed the vibe overall and we were just really kind of shocked at the unfriendly service of this one employee (I will say I think we just got the one that was miserable, everyone else seemed to be smiling and professional, heck, let's just say friendly) that's all we really would expect. Disappointed - seemed like a place we'd have wanted to frequent, but I'm just not sure we will have to try again another day and hope it was a one-off situation.

Receipt shows an automatic gratuity of $3.58 plus an additional $1.68 for paying with card.
    Miguel N.

Upon on receiving my an asking to make a western omelet there was no cheese nor tomatoes. The service agents were rude when asked about their prices and why gratuity was added not suggested. The ambiance was nice and cozy. I'm upset for them forcing the gratuity amount for takeout... really? Not going back there.

We ordered the shot honey grouper sandwich, bang bang shrimp fries, fried shrimp and grouper bites. Three were weekend specials for $9.99. That price and quality cannot be beat! The hot honey grouper was awesome. Very nice filet of grouper with hot honey on it. Sweet, spicy and freshly cooked. 10/10. Fries were freshly fried and had a nice seasoning. Great meal. My son had the grilled grouper bites. They were cooked perfectly and he devoured them. 2 thumbs up! Other son had the shrimp basket. Fried shrimp were juicy and crispy. Not over battered. Great taste and another 2 thumbs up. Bang bang shrimp fries were really good. Not hot but had great flavor. Fries had a ton of bacon and that yummy sauce drizzled over them. Would get again. 9/10. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Nice outdoor area with about 6 tables. Service was friendly and quick. Price was great for fresh seafood. We drove about 30 minutes and it was worth the drive!

My wife & I wanted seafood, mainly fish and this business is now open on Tuesdays which is great. Most of the seafood places in the area only open Thursdays through Saturday. So my wife wanted grilled grouper, and she said it was prepared perfectly. She said that it wasn't overly seasoned and that it tasted fresh. She liked the red potatoes and said that next time she'd do a double order of them. We also go a pound of bay scallops which were delicious. Not overly seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had the fish & chips and I received two nice size pieces of cod, it wasn't overly battered or seasoned and it was very fresh. I also got red potatoes and fries but I'd also double up on the potatoes or get a side of corn. The scallops were abundant and a half order would been sufficient. If they had hush puppies it would be perfect. The customer service "Dustin" was amazing. He was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful with my order today. The prices are fair and the food was very hot. I live 20 minutes away and when I got home it was still scorching hot. I strongly recommend this business and I'll return here again real soon.

First impression was a little suspect because it's clearly a house turned restaurant/bar. Once we got inside though, I loved the charm of it. There are different rooms you walk through and they have it all set up with tables and chairs....all different kinds so it's a modge podge of tables. Then there are cool chandeliers over the tables and bar signs everywhere. Our waitress was a new implant to Florida and she was super sweet and helpful. She also made a mean vodka tonic! Ok so let's get to the food. First we ordered the Fried Alligator Bites and the Fried Green Tomatoes as appetizers and they were both delicious! The alligator wasn't super chewy and the voodoo sauce was banging! I went with the Shrimp and Grits and sheesh I was blown away! I loved the texture and the taste of the grits. They had just the right amount of cheese and the shrimp were cooked perfectly! The hubby got the Grouper Tacos and he said they were good but a little dry. He wished they had some more toppings...either sauce or pico de gallo. My daughter got the mussel pasta. She loved the mussels but was disappointed by the penne pasta. She wished it was a bit saucier as it only had a lemony/wine liquid that wasn't sticking to the pasta. All in all this place was good. We will go at least once more since it's by where we're staying and I want to try a couple more things on the menu.

Service was pretty good, our server was very friendly and helpful, but they seemed to be pretty busy so he didn't come around too much (which we also appreciated, as it was just enough space and attention). Food was better than I expected! All of the dishes were well-cooked and flavorful, the drinks (mango margarita) were a bit strong but loved, and nothing was too salty or too bland. We started with a dozen oysters which were very fresh and slightly chewy (different from northern oysters that I usually have), then had the cod, crab cakes, and snapper, all with well-paired sauces and great sides (the snapper was slightly overcooked). Everyone got complimentary sunset shots as the sun was dipping towards the horizon, and we finished off with a giant slice of key lime pie (that we couldn't quite fit in so we took back because it was too good to waste). Overall good experience and will definitely be back to try more!

I tasted more filling than crab in my small crabcake. The veggies were cool. However, the sauce was rather tasty. My wife had a similar experience. I also ordered the Key Lime. If you've seen many of my hundreds of reviews, I love me some Key Lime. Look, I became hungry just thinking about a slice. Regrettably, this Key Lime was disappointing in taste. The rather larger crust could've been outstanding, but alas, it too was plain. My daughter enjoyed her chicken salad but didn't like the salty fries. My mother-in-law didn't believe her Snapper meal was Snapper. She said it was moist. Yet, she said it was okay. Disclaimer: The Server was great, but she was taking care of a group of 14 people. The people who came out to help her deliver the food were ok. We asked several times whether the "Catch of the Day" was the Flounder. We were repeatedly told, "No." It was. Consequently, those who ordered it also had cooler food. I believe those issues contributed to the food temperature. This place came highly recommended. In short, I wasn't pleased with paying $164 for three mediocre meals. I encourage you to try them out. I plan on taking my wife back there on August 27 to give them another chance. I'm certain it'll be much better.

It's a great place to share a meal with family & friends. It was very comforting! We were greeted immediately by Dilara. She was so friendly and helpful throughout the visit. She even gave me a great suggestion on choice of drinks. The Milkis Banana Soda was the perfect fit for me. The restaurant started to get very busy at lunch time, and none of it phased her. She handled it like a pro. We started with the Corn Cheese appetizer. I would have never tried it if my friend had not mentioned it the day before. It was such a great shareable dish. It's delivered all bubbly on a hot plate. It looks almost like Mexican street corn, but it has a totally different flavor profile. It was almost sweet enough to be a dessert. I love that sweet cheese topping! It was a cold day, so we decided to get soup. I went with the Galbitang, and my friend selected the Soft Tofu Stew. It also came out bubbling hot, and served in its own cast iron pot. A very hot pot, so don't touch it. Lol! The rib meat was plentiful. There was a large rib bone in my soup. The meat was so tender, and fell right off the bone. The broth was meaty and full of flavor. There wasn't a whole lot of glass noodles, so I suggest you add the meat dumplings for an extra $5. Otherwise, just add the rice that comes with it. It was perfect with the rice. The banchan sides were also very tasty. I was surprised that the kimchi wasn't overly spicy. I really loved all the different flavors. What's even better is that they don't rely on salt to make it tasty. All the natural flavors of the rich rib meat shined through in the broth. It was a meal to be savored slowly as the broth started cooling off from the hot temperature. You can actually carry on a conversation while enjoying it, and not worry about your soup getting cold. Again, it was a very comfortable & enjoyable experience! We wanted to try the Korean Hotteok for dessert. Unfortunately, they didn't have any that day. I definitely want to go back and try that. I'm also very interested in trying their vegetable ramyun & gimbap lunch combo. There was a Bulgogi Wrap special that also looked very reasonable. They have different specials each month. Everything was great! I could definitely tell that a lot of hard work goes into making each and every dish. This hidden gem deserves multiple return visits. It's very close to the Manatee Viewing Center, so you might as well check it out while you're in the area.
