Walked around Fort Langley and this was our last spot before we left. Decided to get gelato instead of ice cream because it's lighter. There is no sampling here by the way! There are a lot of options for flavours and they serve normal and waffle cones, and cups. There is a little area on the side that would make a good study spot or place to hang out if there is wifi available. The decoration inside is nice and clean. I like the decor and the warm lighting inside. I got the lemon flavour. It was light and yummy. It's my favourite flavour to get for gelato and hard to mess up. I had to dock a few stars because while my girlfriend and I were discussing what flavour to get on the side and not in anyone's way, one of the staff was a bit pushy and the tone that she used to check up was not very nice. Came here for gelato on a warm weekend and there wasn't much of a lineup. I found the gelato a bit too sweet for my liking. I got a kids size scoop and didn't find the $1 difference in price between the kids size and the next size up to be that much of a difference. Overall, not a go to place for me for gelato. read more

It was the only ice cream/gelato shop open at 7:30 pm on Saturday. I could see that there were at least 2 other dessert shops, but they were closed. Since this was the only one open, there was a lineup, and all the seating was occupied. No need to worry though, as there are other benches and tables across the street! There were plenty of flavors, ranging from sorbets to classic flavors to interesting ones. The menu listed up to 40 flavors, which can make it difficult for the indecisive. Gelato: Blueberry Cheesecake (Small - in a regular cone) - around $6.35. Taste: 7.8/10. The cone didn't taste fresh. I don't think the cheesecake flavor was as pronounced as in past ones I've had at other shops. However, the blueberry mixed into the gelato looked aesthetically pleasing. Mint Chocolate (Small - in a cup) - around $6.35. Taste: 7/10. The cup had the words "Sweet Revenge Bakery and Cafe" on it, which is another shop's name, so it confused me for a second. Other than that, it tasted as it should. Out of our two choices, the Blueberry Cheesecake takes the prize. Because it was gelato, the dessert melted really fast. The cone was waiting for me at the pick-up side just 5 seconds after being scooped, and it was already dripping a little :( read more

It was my first trip to Fort Langley and I noticed this place when I got off the bus. I walked around town first and checked out other ice cream places, this one looked more special so I decided to give this store a try. I ordered the pumpkin gelato since it is a limited time special. It is rather expensive at $6 for a small cone. The taste was better than normal ice cream from the supermarket, in fact, it was a little too sweet and I got thirsty afterwards, leaving me to wonder if there were taste enhancers used. The cone was very fresh, it was the only positive. But for a total cost of $7, I could get much better quality and better taste gelato in Vancouver. Last but not least, the reason I gave this store a one star is it forced me to give them a 10% tip. I tried changing the tip amount but the terminal did not allow me to do that at all. I do not mind giving a tip, but forcing me to do it just put me off, I will never return. read more

A place to avoid in Fort Langley! Very overpriced for how small a small is. My first bite, the Mango didn't taste any much like a Mango and was grainy. On the first bite (also Mango) my daughter found a black hair in. She went back to ask for a new scoop and the lady argued with her. Told her that is how a real mango is. With black hair??? My daughter just gave up not wanting to be yelled at by the lady. My daughter did not get a new scoop because of the way she was treated and threw it in the garbage. I too threw my scoop in the garbage. What a waste of money. The owner then tries to call my daughter a liar on her Google review. That is why you getting so many bad reviews. read more

There are a couple of ice cream/dessert places in the area but Maria's Gelato caught our eyes. No only is it conveniently located at a corner unit, but this place was buzzing with customers lining up when we drove by. Needless to say, we decided to join the crowd and line up. The wait was short and ordering process easy. You get assisted by one of the scoopers then you get redirected to the cashier, and you pick up your treats near the exit area. NOTE: There are no samplings allowed! What I was impressed with was the amount of variety they offer. Not only do they have gelatos, but they also have sorbets and a ton of vegan options. My vegan passionfruit gelato had real passionfruit seeds and was refreshing; it was more on the tart side than sweet which was a pleasant surprise. My boyfriend got the maple walnut gelato. He was expecting some bits of crunchy walnut but was disappointed to not find any. What detracted from the experience was the service and prices. A single scoop is $6 and was pretty small. I originally wanted to order a double scoop ($8) but was told to order 2 kid sizes ($4.75 each) because they couldn't split cup. Does that mean 2 kid sizes portions is the same as a double scoop? I'm not too sure. I wasn't splitting cups because I was sharing with anyone. I just personally don't like my food/flavours touching each other. I'm fine with paying extra for the cup but understand that not all places can accommodate. What really surprised me was that they also weigh their scoops. Quality control is important, but it made the whole experience feel transactional vs. memorable at a local neighbourhood joint. It made me feel like it wasn't a neighbourhood shop that focuses on good customer experience, but rather focuses entirely on turnover and getting customers in and out. Overall, I wouldn't personally return given the high price-point and average customer service, in addition to the overall experience not being very memorable. read more

This was such a great treat on a hot summer night! There was a line up out the door, as it must be a very popular on warm nights. But I'm glad to say that it is worth the wait. If you're looking for a smooth, creamy, vegan friendly and gluten free friendly treat location this is a great spot! It is on the pricy side, but if you're looking to treat yourself with a treat I highly recommend! All the flavours we tried were great. This has to be the largest selection of vegan gelato I have yet to find! Seating maybe hard to grab outside and the garbage maybe a little overwhelming. Just 15 minutes ago we were there. There was a line out of the door and my friend and I waited patiently. When we were inside, the two gals in front of us left abruptly. A mother and two kids were being served. A gal by the register waved to us and said: I can help the next one. So my friend and I went to the register, but her customer was still paying. So we just waited there. Another gal asked who was next and I said here and pointed to the gal at the register saying she waved us over here, but we hadn't been served. The gal by the register denied she waved us from the line and claimed she would never do that. I told her why we would leave the line to her register if we weren't instructed. The gal kept denying what I said. She raised her voice and ordered me back to the line, I just yelled back: forget it and my friend and I left. Really! This is how you treat potential customers?! I don't get why this place is rated so low. They have a decent amount of vegan gelato and pastries. I just wish there was more vegan gelato options outside of fruity flavours. There were a couple misses, but everything I got was really tasty for the most part. They also stock Bonus Bakery and To Die For, so you're spoiled for choice when it comes to vegan pastries. Vegan Pea-not Butter Cookie (5/5) This was a delicious cookie. When heated up, it was perfectly crispy on the outside and slightly crumbly on the inside. It's a good size and is loaded with ingredients, from massive chocolate chunks to sea salt to marshmallows. It's salty from the peanut butter and sea salt, sweet and chewy from the marshmallows, and rich from the chocolate chunks. I normally don't like marshmallows, but it works really well here. The amount of chocolate chunks and marshmallows is also generous, so every bite is packed with flavour. I loved the different textures and flavours, and they all complemented each other perfectly. Vegan Oat Fudge Bar (5/5) This was so tasty! The flavour was really nice and not overly sweet, and I really liked the texture. The chocolate melted when heated up and the oat bar was slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I really enjoyed this. Chocolate Sorbet Gelato (4.5/5) I really liked this sorbet. The texture was thick and smooth, and surprisingly creamy. It's not icy, not too sweet, and has a nice, rich chocolate flavour. I would recommend this flavour. Vegan Cookies and Creme Donut (4.5/5) This was a really good vegan donut. It is very dense and not fluffy at all, but it's not bad. The glaze was very sweet but the flavour was good. I liked the cookies on top, and it was definitely a nice treat. Vegan Brownie (1/5) Sadly, this was a fail. Though it smelled really good, the taste just wasn't there. The texture of the brownie was very soft and mushy, and it was way too sweet. It was also pretty small for the price. I would suggest getting a cookie or oat fudge bar instead. Vegan Almond Gelato (0/5) This was a major disappointment. It tasted nothing like almond. Instead, it tasted like medicine and was really gross. I couldn't bring myself to eat more than one bite. Overall, this place is awesome if you're looking for some vegan pastries. Their vegan gelato options are a hit or miss, with the chocolate sorbet being great and the almond gelato being terrible. I ordered a small gelato and the cashier (manager/owner) took the cup from the person who scooped the ice cream and put it on a scale. She then took the cup back and took a chunk out of the scoop and put it back, which left an ugly dent in the scoop. Think about presentation. They'd rather save a tiny amount of ice cream per scoop than think about customer service and presentation. In the day and age of people taking pictures of food and posting it, this place doesn't understand what's most important. Clearly doesn't care about customer service. I've been here twice, and I don't get why people dislike it. The service is great, atmosphere is cute, and the gelato flavours are delightful. To be fair, I've only come here later in the evenings when there aren't a lot of people, so I can't speak directly to how they would handle the pressure of a large summer crowd. Most recently, I visited with a group of 7 people and we all left happy. Service: the ladies behind the counter are quick to greet you and are willing to give you a sample of whatever you're interested in. How long it takes to get your ice cream is solely dependent on your decision making abilities. Atmosphere: there aren't a ton of tables, which makes for a pretty cozy atmosphere. This store is located at the edge of the row of stores, but is worth finding. Flavours: I tried all my friends ice creams and shared a medium gelato with Rob W. We got the orange chocolate and white raspberry gelatos. They were really good! My friend's Ferraro was also tasty. The only one I didn't like as much was the green tea with coconut milk. This wasn't their fault, it's just an inherently underwhelming combination. The scoops could be more consistent. My medium was smaller than my friends'. Umm don't know how we had such a different experience; all in expectations I guess. We all loved our gelato. It was spendy especially after just getting back from Italy and it being so cheap there. But we are from the states and knew everything here was more than we'd pay at home. I had the plain dark chocolate and it was delicious. We had two people who had the chocolate orange and they loved it. They also had the lemon cello? and let me have a bite. Oh my gosh that was so good. They did not give samples, but lots of places don't. The girl behind the counter was very pleasant, it was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. Then noticed there is a different scoop for every size (1 scoop, 2 Scoop etc.). It doesn't pay to be cheap with your customers when you are paying $8 for two scoops of Ice Cream. I would avoid this store due to poor customer service. The first thing that turned me off was the no-sampling policy. For the price they charged, I want to make sure that I will enjoy my order. By refusing to allow any sampling, I went from making a large order with different flavors to a small one for a traditional flavor. The second thing that turned me off was the upcharge for vegan ice cream. I got my bill and saw an extra .50 cents for vegan ice cream. If this was made clear from the start, I would have been fine with it. But it was not. Nor did I see a sign for it. I felt cheated. The third thing that turned me off was how the service staff made you feel like you were nothing more than cattle being herded through the store. You did not feel like a valued customer. We got a cup with 4 flavors which is pretty small for the price paid, I think it was the same tiny cup they use for all the other sizes. This is a two in one gelato and coffee shop. I think it is very smart for this shop to serve both items year round. The exterior of the shop is underwhelming and average looking, but inside the shop is a modern cute cafe ambiance. The gelato selection is very good. Gelato was creamy and full of flavour. Pricing is reflective of the touristy area and lack of competition. Overall, 3.5 stars. I would come back if I am in the area during the warm summer months for a cold dessert treat. For coffee, I would go elsewhere in the area as there are many more cute cafes options nearby. read more

I went in and chose my flavour as it was still in the girl's hand I said that is incredibly tiny serving she went over to a scale weighed it and knocked a smidge off her way of showing me not to complain. I love this place! They have so many dairy free and vegan options of gelato as well as waffle cones (vegan)!! Now for someone with an allergy this was a HUGE PLUS. The gelato flavours were a variety of rich flavours made with nut milks and sorbet style fruit flavours! They also had a variety of baked goods, teas, coffees ect. Good gelato here. There was a fairly long line, which is usually a good sign. It was a great treat on a hot day. There are many flavors to choose from. It may take awhile to choose. They had some interesting flavors like lavender as well as regular flavors like strawberry or coconut. You can get a scoop in a waffle cone, which is what we did. I thought it was a bit pricey at $6 for a single scoop cone (taxes in). Also, you might feel rushed to make a decision on the flavor of gelato due to the busyness & it may be difficult to choose as there are many flavors you could select from. We live close by and from time to time we like to bring our friends over for an after dinner gelato. We have noticed that the portions that are being dispensed have become smaller and smaller. During my most recent visit I was very disappointed to notice that this trend is continuing. The price conversely and disproportionally has increased to the amount of product being dispensed. I fear that this will probably impact their bussiness (especially among young families) who will seek out some of the other options in Fort Langley. Gelato is of good quality and tasty. So many people complain about how high the price is compared to the size of the gelato that they receive; however, I would like to kindly remind them that this is NOT ordinary store-bought icecream you get from your local grocery store. It is entirely HOMEMADE and they use organic milk from the Abbotsford Dairy Farm which I have done several research myself, is extremely trustworthy and quality. Each gelato takes much time and several ingredients when making it. Maria's Gelato considers each and every customer's values and diet. All of these efforts to meet several different expectations of customers should be more appreciated and applauded! I love their gelatos, it is so different in texture and tastes exactly like how I would expect them to be. Please don't let the price stop you from appreciating this cafe. I use to go there all the time, I like to support local business. Last time I order a chai with almond milk the taste was horrible (undrinkable), I truly believe something was wrong I'm not sure what but it was not drinkable, maybe old almond milk or wrong concentration...or something else. I let them know that the tastes was terrible, I did not ask for a refund, I just want them to know. 5 minutes later the owner look at my table from behind the counter and loudly told me that she wants to refund me and nothing was wrong with the chai, I invited her to try it or have the barista making a new one for her to try, she sad she will not embarrass her barista to do that and gave me a lecture about natural chai without sugar...etc. I am a chai lover, I do not eat sugar, and I tell you on that day something was really wrong with the chai. I hope you keep your barista forever, hopefully with good chai so she will not look bad. I will never come back. read more

I visited this gelato shop and should have ordered the coffee. I ordered a medium cup of gelato which is supposed to be 2 scoops. What I got was one scoop for $6.25 in a tiny cup. I was not remotely impressed by the amount, cost or even the flavour. All types of gelato looked amazing but she was so chintzy with her serving along with being generally unhappy that I'm pretty sure I won't be going back. Went to this cute Gelato shop on a busy sunny Sunday in search of tasty vegan options. We were not disappointed! They have TONS of vegan friendly sorbets in a wide variety of flavours. We were pleasantly surprised to find that not only do they sell gelato and sorbet but they also are a coffee shop with a whole menu of lattes, teas, as well as food options. They have some vegan breakfast and lunch options that looked tasty, in addition to vegan friendly and gluten-free pastry options! So yummy, we will definitely be back. read more

Extremely rude customer service. Went there today with my SO's family and there were 8 of us. Yes it was chaotic on the Labour Day holiday with all of the other customers, but that is still no excuse for the way they came off towards us. When we came in there was a group of 4 in front of us and we all just started to look at the flavours and make our decisions while waiting for them to finish up with the groups ahead. One lady kept asking if we were all together and my SO's father didn't hear her so I responded with how many. As soon as she heard the amount she rolled her eyes, looked at her colleagues, and said "You guys can deal with them". Absolutely appalled at how that interaction went. After that, you could tell they were getting more and more frustrated with everyone there, but you need to expect that on a holiday as well as when there's a heat wave going on. Plus, it's Fort Langley! It's always busy on weekends/holidays! From someone who works in customer service as well, I understand that it can get busy, but that is sill no way to treat or interact with a customer. Would not recommend to anyone. read more
