The salsa is very fresh and the chips are not, thank goodness, over salted. It's a perfect starter! I enjoyed the meal option of four chicken flautas with rice, beans, and perfectly portioned guacamole and sour cream. You are able to make your own choice of meat stuffing, which I love, knowing that the flautas are freshly made. I chose to have chicken and found it to be perfectly fried, not overly seasoned, which some places do. I like that you can actually taste the chicken and not just spice. I also had the horchata to drink, and I loved it! The service is wonderful, with many families flocking to the restaurant for that homemade feel for dinner. The staff has always been kind enough to offer a refill of your drink/soda to go if you wish. Kindness from the staff is a real highlight of Raul's. The ambiance of being at home is a plus for me. There are a few handicap parking spots available in the small adjoined parking lot, with easy wheelchair access through the front door. There is also plenty of parking spots located on the street and in the available parking lot located in the middle of Hawthorne Blvd. There is a television with captions on for those that are HOH, hard of hearing. Being a hearing aide user, I sincerely appreciated this. I consider this a hidden gem in Hawthorne.

First off, the burger... wow. It had THREE different meats in it, and every bite was packed with flavor. It wasn't just big for no reason either; it was actually cooked perfectly. Even the fries were oddly really good but it was because they season them, which sounds simple (And like a no brainer) but makes such a difference. And don't even get me started on the cakes. We found out the pastry chef makes everything completely from scratch, and she's insanely talented. The cake designs are next level, and they taste just as good as they look. You can tell they put a ton of love into what they do. The best part, though, was the owners. They were seriously some of the nicest people we've met and made us feel so welcome. You can tell they really care about their customers and their business. I really hope this place blows up because they honestly deserve it.

I'm a big fan of birria and I was torn between trying out their birria ramen or their quesabirrias. The guy who was working the truck said they were both great but it was the quesabirrias that is their best seller. With each taco being only $4, it seemed quite the deal! I chose to go with the quesabirrias and I am really glad I did. These tacos were made fresh upon order. They came out hot and crisp! I loved the melted cheese and the tender beef inside. I found that they were actually quite generous with the beef. It was very fulfilling and I was quite happy! I definitely want to also get the Birria ramen one day.
