The front/bar area of Ernie's- dining booths in back.

So Ernie's is 60% diner 40% local/dive-bar. It is clean and has a small town, older, like '70s vibe. The beer menu on the wall above the bar is for kegs, cases and 30paks - and tap deposits. They have domestic beer in cans, bottles and draft. This isn't a craft brew pub. The food is honest & delicous- a real cheeseburger and some very solid onion rings. They have a good selection of other sandwiches I'll be back to have. People were polite and the barkeep was very polite and responsive. Sincerely was pleasantly surprised and will be back

    Never a bad drink!

The sad part is you would get 2 nice pieces of fish and waffle fries. Now it's two fish sticks and a small amount of regular fries. Obviously the price is the same which sadly is a bad deal. Sorry but I won't be back. 1 beer , 1 cider , fish & chips, 2 cups of patio and the loaded fries were $60. And had to pick up a sandwich on the way home. No value ... don't understand what happened ... it's cod ... it's cheap. Change the price a buck or two if needed but cutting the portion by by 4/6s is sad

It's clean and dark and warm. I wasn't expecting a Cheers welcome but we weren't even created when we walked in. The hostess was at her stations all the way inside the bottom floor. The hostess was polite when we approached and sat us upstairs per our request. That's where the spell of the place evaporated. We sat about 10-15 minutes before our server made it to us. (The place was not busy outside of the bar down stairs. When she asked us what we wanted to drink my friend ordered I said "I need a second what do you recommend between...." she interrupted and said "I'll be back." It took 20 minutes to come back with his drink (Guinness in a warm beer glass) I asked for water, she didn't acknowledge me and walked away. I tried to get her attention for the next 20 minutes so we could order. She would walk past us. I tried to flag her down again nothing. After about 40 minutes she came back to take our order. We were still hoping to turn the trip around as we were excited about the menu. We ordered the shelpards pie potato skins, a bowl of cream of crab soup, a steak and the bangers stew. By the time our food made it to us we had been sitting almost an hour and a half. The soup was amazing. It was hot it was tasty the crab was forward, I really enjoyed it. The skins were mid. Some were over cooked some were just right. All of them were cold. It seemed like they were pre cooked and frozen to be reheated later. The steak was over cooked and all but flavorless. The potatoes were just wet mashed potatoes. And the beans were equally as bland. Non of it was hot. The bangers stew was... Almost edible. The potatoes. Good, onions and carrots and meat. All tasty on their own. The sauce though was ungodly sweet. So sweet that it made the rest inedible. All in all we were there for almost 2 hours. We were $91 into our tab. By the time the food came, we asked for our ticket and some boxes. We tried a few bites and left. I probably won't ever go back.

There are also a few annexes, including a cozy upstairs space. The staff is professional and welcoming. Everyone I know loves the beers here, but if you're not a beer fan (like me), no worries. They have wine, canned sodas, and water in a fridge, plus those fun machines with a variety of fruit crushes and even basic full-bar cocktail offerings. To get a drink, you simply order at the long bar or the side window. For those who don't drink alcohol, they also have a fun dirty soda bar to the right of the brewery inside the attached shop, Lucy's Little Red Wagon, where you place separate drink orders. Lucy's is an attraction in and of itself! You can bring your drink inside and browse the cute clothes, stylish jewelry, local snacks, and unique gifts. They have a packed event schedule with live bands, line dancing, trivia nights, cornhole, and all sorts of fun activities. We've met friends here, brought our teenage kids, hosted out-of-town guests, met coworkers after work, and always see plenty of young children running around. They're dog-friendly too! When you're ready to eat, just walk over to The Food Spot through the entrance to Lucy's. You can order at the counter or through the app using the QR codes scattered throughout the brewery. The food is remarkably good and has exceeded our expectations every time. They rotate weekly specials, and have a standing menu. Our favorites have been the huge salads, delicious pizzas, and flavorful flatbreads. Whether you're stopping in for a drink, a meal, live music, or just a relaxing evening with family and friends, Flood Zone has become one of our favorite local spots!

Another food runner also deserves recognition because he was incredibly motivated and on top of everything. Their timing was perfect. Braydn seemed to intuitively know exactly when to check on us, refill our drinks, and ask if we were ready to order. She was genuinely friendly and looked like she truly enjoyed her job, which always makes for a better dining experience. We sampled a few cocktails, and my White Cosmo was absolutely delicious! For dinner, I ordered the Oh My Mahi, and "oh my" was exactly my reaction. The moist mahi mahi was served over a bed of saffron rice and topped with an Asian slaw. There were so many layers of flavor, and every bite depended on how you attacked it. I started by dragging my fork through the hoisin sauce and picking up some rice, fish, and slaw all together. The temperature and flavor combinations were remarkable with the hot saffron rice with just a hint of hoisin, the fresh, flaky fish, a pop of ginger, then the cooler, crisp crunch of carrots, cabbage, red onion, red pepper, and I think spinach. Every bite was different, the presentation was beautiful, and the meal was simply amazing. My husband ordered the Papa Burger, a clever play on "jalapeño popper." It featured two flavorful patties topped with bacon, jalapeño jelly, cheddar, cream cheese, sautéed onions, and fresh-cut fries. I stole one bite...then another...then a third! I'm officially renaming it the "Oh My Poppa Burger" because it may have been the best burger I've ever tasted. That says a lot because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to burgers. I'm not even a bacon fan. Yet somehow this combination just worked. What is in that cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeño jelly combo that make this burger so ridiculously good? Next time I'm in a burger mood, I am coming here! But everything looked so good so I may be back before that burger mood strikes. The only reason I'm giving Lost Lion four instead of five stars is that my husband would have loved to add a simple slice of tomato and some lettuce. We were hesitant to ask because we know substitutions can snowball, and we quickly got the impression that the chef preferred not to alter the menu as written. He didn't even dare ask for a side of ranch for the fries after this. If small additions like lettuce or tomato were an option, even for a small upcharge, it would make an already fantastic burger even better for some. That said, between the outstanding service, creative and delicious food, excellent cocktails, and warm ambiance on a Thursday evening, The Lost Lion made a wonderful first impression. We'll definitely be back.

As we were being led to our table I noticed many empty tables and 4 empty booths. I asked if we could get a booth rather than the table but she said no as they were reserved..okay. We had MD crab, cream of crab, and scallops wrapped in bacon for appetizer. All excellent! My soft crab sandwich and side of onion rings all cooked to perfection. My friends had shrimp and grits and stuffed rockfish, both meals exquisite. For dessert lemon tart and the chocolate peanut butter cake. Yum, the only thing that could have made that better was a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Kudos for using a local company for their desserts, Bertuccos Bakery and giving them credit on the menu. Love it, supporting other Carroll County businesses. To top of the entire evening we had Blake as our server, the absolute % best. From the introduction, use of beverage napkins under our drinks, clearing of dirty dishes, and to the dry humor he engaged us with us throughout the evening. Thank you! In today's society many servers are handing me my bill before I even finish my meal and dont bother to clear away dirty dishes. What a pleasant evening out with friends with great food and quality service. We left by 530pm and the entire time we were there, at least 3 booths and a couple of tables were consistently vacant. Your hostesses need to work a little better at seating people without long wait times. The couple behind us were told a 45 minute wait. This is not our first time at Maryland Mallet and have been turned away at 4pm on a Saturday before due to no seating available because of reservations. Growing up in the hospitality industry, I would say that you may be losing some potential revenue. Just a thought! Kudos to Blake and your kitchen staff!

Now this is a family spot so you may see children there shooting pool better than the adults(me) but you have another side where you're able to sit back relax and enjoy the show(Karaoke if you're lucky). We came for the crabs and we weren't disappointed! They were DELICIOUS! So the AYCE came with several options as wings, shrimp, fries, corn (fresh local and I got the last piece) hush puppies. The wings have several flavors but could be cooked harder(my fault I didn't ask but will next time), the shrimp were nice sized and seasoned well, can't go wrong with fries and the hush puppies were tasty! This is a must try for anyone in the area looking to go somewhere with great food and conversation. Oh and forgot to mention we had Maddie as our server-she is the best!
