One of our regular work week lunch locations. Service is friendly/fast, and the food is authentic. Lots of "regulars" eat here. In general, I'm not a big fan of Mexican breads, but they have a panaderia (bakery) onsite with a nice selection of Mexican breads and pastries, which all my coworkers rave about. They also have some convenience store items as well. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but I recommend that you check them out for a good, reasonably priced meal. read more

Came in for lunch had hard shell tacos not taquitos hard shell tacos chicken and I got pon dulce sweet bread. It's very authentic and the sweet bread the one with the pumpkin is my favorite. Great food! I ordered two burritos, and both were delicious. Their burritos were giant and my husband and i could have easily shared. The restaurant could have been a bit cleaner, but it didn't take away from the experience. It's tucked away in a small strip mall on the edge of Pomona--a pretty solid spot overall. Love this place! It's a small mom & pop hole in the wall with a bakery. The portions are more than generous and the food is delicious. It's family run so it may be slow as there's usually one cook that I have seen and someone at the counter. Was craving their wet chicken burrito supreme, as you can see it's huge! That fed 4 people in my household, unless you are super hungry and can finish the whole thing! read more

I missed the breakfast rush and I made it before lunch, that's the best time.... Weird off times so the Chef is more attentive towards your needs! The place is uniquely interesting it's a half restaurant and a half panaderia. Usually, they are separate entities. Other places where they are combined are mostly at huge hispanic, Latin American grocery stores such as; Vallarta or Cardenas. Ordered the pork tamale and a machaca burrito. The pork tamale was plain but the salsa is what saved it, the salsa brought the ummpph, the pow pow, the delicioso to the dish! The machaca burrito is a must get, the portion was huge definitely enough for 2! The prices were absolutely reasonable, now that I think about it...... this place is a hidden gem!! =) read more

So my daughter called me and said she was picking up something from this place and asked did I want something. I looked at their. Menu, which said they had Birria, so I told her to bring me some. When she got there, she called me back and said they only had Covid or menudo, no Birria. I thought of her to get me menudo. I wish I hadn't done that! Before you get the wrong idea, let me say this was the best menudo I've ever had in my entire life! Just the right mix of all of the ingredients--most places overkill with either the hominy or the tripe, Maria's does not. And the broth was so flavorful I almost forgot to add all the onions, cilantro, limes, etc that accompanied it and that I usually have to add to other menudos to get there to where I need them to be taste wise. So why do I wish I hadn't gotten the menudo? Because now I only wants theirs, and it's by my daughters job, not by my house . But hey, I guess that's why I have a car. My husband went and placed order to go. He ordered a machaca burrito for himself which was huge, but delicious he ordered me the chilaquiles and they were just as good. Of course they were soggy by the time he got home, but they were very flavorful and delicious. He said the workers were very nice and friendly and service was great. Friendly staff, atmosphere is kinda run down, but the food was the biggest disappointment. Menudo - The flavor was OK, but there was no hominy, which is such a big component. That's like ordering a Cheeseburger and getting no cheese or condiments. Huevos, Carne Asada, Nopales, Rice & Beans - There was literally only 1 egg at the most, the Nopales were filled with too many jalapeños and each meal came with only 1 tortilla. I think 2 should be a standard. Taquitos - Dry, small bit overall decent. Lastly, I feel that when dining a location, there shouldn't be a charge with refills on fountain drinks. Price is right for some authentic Mexican food at this small bakery and kitchen. I just wanted a sub$10 breakfast plate that would fill me up and this was perfect. I make chilequiles at home but mine can't compare to these. The red sauce was spicy and did not make the tortillas lose their crunch. Even the homemade beans and orange Mexican rice were perfect. Don't hate because I asked them to overcook the eggs. That was on me. The baked goods were so fresh that I bought some for the house. Maria's makes my favorite veggie burrito. Not only are they extremely tasty, but they are also huge. My wife only was able to make it through a third of her burrito. I was able to eat half, and I will finish it in a couple of hours. If you're looking for ambience, you will be disappointed, but if you love good food, Maria's is the best. It's also a panderia and they offer great pastries. I brought a group of people here once when I had a business class in the area. They were from San Diego and were Mexican. Every one of them loved the food. We've been eating here for at least 20 years. My wife used to work around the corner and came home saying she found a great Mexican restaurant. I can't get enough of Mexican food, so I tried it right away. It's about six or seven miles from our home, but it's always worth the ride. I highly recommend it. Was craving a chorizo breakfast burrito after church one morning and was going to be passing through the area so looked up some spots and Maria's came up. I know wifey said her coworkers had been talking about this place for a while and loved their breakfast burritos so thought I'd give it a try. I was still a few minutes away so I thought I would call it in so that it would be good for pickup, but when I got there, it still wasn't ready...but the gal at the counter told me that the cook liked to get the chorizo nice and cooked so it gets crispy, plus they had some other orders before mine. Prob if I had called in like 10 minutes before, it might have been closer to ready but it was like five minutes. The guy was cool though, he came out and told me himself, it'll take a minute. I wasn't in a hurry so I browsed around while I waited. So the place is a restaurant/bakery and they have a ton of mexican baked goods and pastries and even a fridge full of various drinks (sodas, water, juice, etc.), so there are a lot of options to add on stuff if you wanted to when you got here. I got my order and headed back out as there is no dining in (not that I was going to, I was running errands) as of this Covid-19 era review. As far as chorizo bfast burritos go, I gotta say, it was pretty dang good. The crisp crunch of the chorizo really made a difference to me and with everything in it, plus salsa on the side, it was very enjoyable. He double wrapped it in foil so it stayed pretty hot for a good minute. But I am DEFINITELY coming back in for my breakfast burrito needs from now on. A guy came after me and ordered like 5 burritos so I want to try their other options as well as other stuff I saw on the menu. It's literally on my way to work so it looks like of a beautiful relationship between Maria's and I. =p One major disappointment tho, on their window, they advertise that they have orange bang, which gets me VERY excited...but alas, they had none. Maria's is my go-to for legit tacos. My favorites are the al pastor and the carnitas taco combo (#6). I don't think I've ever had a better taco. I really like their supremo burrito (with your choice of meat), and as it so happens, they make excellent tamales. The service here is great and the guys are really friendly. Not in the best part of town, but sometimes, that is just how it goes. You have to get out of your comfort zone. read more

I've known gone to this place since it opened up back in the early 2000s. I know the owners. Their food is great period. That's all I have to say. Don't expect a fine dining restaurant if you are go somewhere else. The food here is pretty authentic. Came here with a friend on a morning and wanted to try their breakfast. I tried the huevos rancheros plate and it was bomb.com. Loved it so much. It was mild as well and had a kick of spice every now and then. Their seasoning as on par, their beans is good as well. It's not bland. Also comes with tortillas of your choice. I don't really eat that heavy during breakfast but wow it filled me up and wasn't hungry for lunch so I skipped lunch and ate dinner later that day. The location to this place is on the not so nice side of town and it's somewhat hidden in this plaza. You won't expect it to be big when you walk inside.
