They scheduled our meeting with a birthday party for some young kids who were just flicking cat toys in our face and all the cats faces and running around so we couldn't interact like we would have hoped too. When we went to pick the boys up finally( 2 brothers who we were told wereNOT bonded but absolutely were.. thank goodness we took both)(..There was some sort of 'date' event going on and I had people swarming me constantly while I was trying to connect and CATCH the kitties we were taking home. It was a disaster. The price to adopt both was a Little outrageous as well considering you could tell they were fighting for food.... I appreciate what this woman is doing and please please adopt and don't shop, but be ready to spend some money and be frustrated trying to adopt.... Or even get a coffee from this cat 'CAFE'

We adopted a wild beast named Willow from this organization...being told it was a shy cat…read more We fear the cat may have been drugged to be more adoptable as we have never seen any animal act as this one did, and we are in our mid-60s! The beast hid under a day bed for a week. It ate, drank & used the catbox, but we never saw it. Then there was a large pile of feces in our Dining Room which caused our decision to return it. My husband moved some boxes stored under the day bed to retrieve Willow while talking baby talk to her. She brutally attacked both of his hands causing deep puncture wounds and tremendous bleeding. We closed the door to the room so she couldn't go hide anywhere else. She literally flew thru the room!!! I mean LITERALLY FLEW THRU THE ROOM!!! She knocked pictures off the wall & broke stuff! She bit him so hard and so deep in BOTH hands that he was screaming! As he was profusely bleeding, he managed to grab her and get her into the bathtub....where she flew around inside (doors closed) smearing the glass doors!! My husband is a Musician & his hands are necessary for him to work and support us. We went to Urgent Care who made us go to the E.R. X-rays were taken showing no teeth bits or broken bones, but there was still a huge possibility of tendon damage & an infection. We were referred to a Hand Surgeon, but we had to wait over a weekend to see him & worry ourselves sick that a 50-year career was over as he was totally helpless & could do nothing for himself with either hand! We had to thoroughly wash his painful hands twice a day & change the bandages. He could not sleep due to the serious pain & lost 10 pounds in 3 days, not only from the pain, but from the sheer fear of losing his career! When we saw the Hand Surgeon on Monday, he said the next few days were critical & referred him to Hand Therapy which started Tuesday. My husband also had a very hard time with the serious antibiotics & pain meds causing him to suffer greatly. Thank God we have insurance as these people never so much as apologized nor called to check on my husband. They did retrieve the beast the following day. It had to be quarantined as we were required to file a Bite Report with Maricopa County Animal Control. We also filed a Complaint with PetCo, but have not heard back from them. We are out money even though we have insurance. No one from Save the Cats Arizona nor PetCo has stepped up to the plate & offered to help with our expenses nor anything for my husband's tremendous suffering & pain. Real quality organizations, eh? Like we said... BEWARE!!! This was our first time in a PetCo as we do all our shopping at PetSmart which we will continue to do. We will never set foot in a PetCo again. Once was too much! As of today, if Save the Cats Arizona decides not to put the beast down, you could unwittingly take it into your home! We would NEVER adopt from this organization again nor allow anyone we care about to do so either. These sure appear to be the worst nightmare to be handling adoptions of cats to unsuspecting hopefuls. If we could give negative stars, we surely would!!!!

We loved the breed and wanted to help,…read morebut we wanted to make sure the rottie we foster would get a along with our current rottie, Samson, and our ten-year-old son at the time. Shelly was careful to select a rottie that would do well in our environment. We met Shelly on neutral territory to introduce Samson to Thor. Thor was a very scared and untrusting boy who showed this through aggression. Shelly brought Dave from Empowered K9 (who is amazing at what he does) to assist with the introduction. After a long, intense session, these two ended up riding home together in the back seat. Once home, Shelly ensured we had everything we needed to foster Thor - a bed, crate, food, collar, leash, treats and toys. She was very responsive to our questions and gave great advice. She had Thor neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. When Thor saw her, you knew he just loved her! There was a potential adopter for Thor, and we were afraid he would be adopted. When Shelly told us he was not adopted, we were elated and knew we had to have Thor as a permanent member of our family. So, we were foster failures, and adopted Thor! Today, almost a year later, Samson and Thor are best of friends. We could not imagine our family without him. He is a happy, playful, loving pup - and I say pup because he never had the chance to be a puppy and now he is a 140-pound puppy! He is truly the sweetest most loving soul. I know we are thankful for each other, and I can't imagine the life he would have had if it weren't for Shelly. We continue to support Shelly and her organization as best we can through donations or volunteering. She holds socialization and fundraising events that are extremely well done. I am simply amazed by her dedication and her passion for the breed. I don't know how she manages it all, but she does and she makes it look easy. She is absolutely amazing and is a true angel!

I adopted a dog from the rescue and, after only a couple of days, made the difficult decision to return him because I did not feel the situation was the right fit for my young children. My children are very young, and I felt that returning the dog was the responsible decision rather than continuing a situation that wasn't working. Unfortunately, my experience with the person I dealt with from the rescue was also extremely negative. Her attitude was rude, confrontational, and completely lacking in compassion. Instead of having a professional and understanding conversation about the situation, I felt judged and treated poorly for making what I believed was the safest decision for my family. What made the situation even worse was seeing the rescue publicly post/comment on social media implying that I did not know how to control my children around the dog. I found that incredibly inappropriate and unfair. They were not in my home and did not have the full context of what happened, yet chose to publicly criticize my parenting. I understand that rescues want to advocate for the animals in their care, but adopters deserve respect as well. Publicly shaming a family and making assumptions about their parenting is not the way to handle an adoption that ultimately didn't work out. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering adopting from this rescue to ask very detailed questions about the dog's behavior around young children and, more importantly, pay attention to how the rescue treats you when things don't go perfectly. My experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not adopt from this rescue again.

The following year, I contacted them again about adopting another kitten, but my message was left unanswered. In July 2023, Oddi was diagnosed with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy when she went in for a nasal rhinoplasty to open up her narrow airways. Two weeks later, Oddi passed away when the doctors were waiting for her to wake up from anesthesia after her suture removal. Her heart stopped, and she fell into seizures and a coma after she was resuscitated. I reached out to them again to let them know what happened. Sadly, they did not respond. I am disappointed with them. It seems they were only responsive when they wanted me to purchase a kitten from them in 2020. It seems the website is down and social media has not been updated for a few years. In my experience, a responsible breeder offers support and stays in contact for life. This is not the case with the folks at Phoenix Persians. I spoke with some Persian breeders recently, and she confirmed this is not ethical behavior on their part.
