Oh my GOODNESS! Marie's is my wet dreams of dive bars, and was an amazing introduction to the Knoxville nightlife. First of all, I've never seen so many mullets and rompers in one location. In awe, I exclaimed: it's a mullet-gasm!! And it was a total party on a Wednesday night. Karaoke. Cheap beers. Such a friendly crowd, I couldn't help but over indulge on High Life's (especially at 2 for $5!) Finding this place was like finding a bit of home when traveling. If only I had some snack options, I might NEVER have left the comfort of cozy, welcoming dive bar. Small side note, this definitely was a queer friendly location. read more

Nothin but a good time here, lots of locals and new faces alike. The beer prices are not bad, there is a nice selection of darts to play. I wish there was a pool table, there is also a dedicated area for karaoke. The bartender is on point about getting your drinks to you. I have never seen someone so on top of getting your next beer to you. I have met quite a few friends here in a short time. read more

I wandered into Marie's for a beer to kill some time. I was welcomed by all the locals and had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Marie in person. What a lovely, friendly lady! The beer was cold, the people were friendly and welcoming, and as a solo traveler, I felt very safe and comfortable. Only beer and seltzers and such are served. No liquor. I had such a good time, I went back the next night for karaoke. This will be my spot whenever I visit Knoxville. read more

This is the only bar I legit feel comfortable going to by myself. The staff makes an effort to get to know everyone, and they are always attentive to what's happening. I am greeted with my usual drink, some popcorn, and a hug. The regulars are real. The karaoke is fun. The 'come as you are' vibe brings people from all corners together - old timers, hipsters, musicians, frat kids. If you don't have an entitled bratty attitude you are guaranteed to have a good time. On karaoke nights you'll hear some straight up *amazing* singing. Marie is an absolute gem, as is her staff. Downsides? People can smoke in there, which is a drag for non-smokers. But, you wear your washable clothes and get over it. Jerks, sloppy drunks, and creeps are not tolerated - so I supposed that's a downside for those people? read more

Not our scene. Small dive bar. We went there on a Monday night. It seemed to be a neighbor bar filled with regulars. Mostly all older men, smoking allowed and we can't handle that. Didn't stay so don't know much else. It might be your scene if you smoke. read more

Cozy bar. Free popcorn. Great for game days and intimate low key date nights. Very affordable menu items. Patio with umbrellas.

Always a delightful experience. Full of wonderful smoke and booze. The best bar in town.

I visited Marie's two nights ago. It's a great place to go for some fun. Immediately upon entering, we were welcomed by Marie, who brought us beers and popcorn, then checked on us periodically throughout the night. Many of the patrons were locals, they we so kind and friendly, and I loved how supportive everyone was of the karaoke singers. There's nothing fancy about this place. The decor has a retro, down home (but sassy) vibe, the drink selection is limited to beer and wine coolers, and the smell of smoke lingers on the clothes I wore that night. The smoke is the reason I'm giving Marie's only 4 stars. If not for that, this would have been perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thanks, Marie! read more

The owner and her daughter are 2 of the kindest people I have ever met. The daughter was the only server in the bar and even at maximum capacity never left us with an empty drink, a full ash tray or waiting for anything. The Karaoke Song book was very versatile concerning Artists, Genre, Era and quantity. Unlike other popular Knoxville karaoke bars, their songs were not limited to just the ''Hits'' by famous artists. They had Soundtracks, Cartoons, Comedies and various other ''B Side'' songs that I have never seen in other bars. Both bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The bar may be considered a dive by some, but the only reason being that it is a small place. I would highly recommend it to karaoke lovers that are sick of ''The Bull'' and the high priced drinks at other establishments. This place is a dive bar, but it is even below a dive bar. Upkeep, interior and cleanliness is all lacking her. I prefer Central Flats and Taps! Colder drink, cheaper food and better clientele. read more

Just a nasty place. I was at a bar, but it closed early, and we still wanted to party. This Marie's seems interesting, so we went there. It was open! There was a person, who was falling down drunk. The door lady was helping them get into their car. I commented that person needs cab, "No, they're local, they are good, it only a short drive." Really? That is stupid! They don't have to drive 10 miles to kill someone. Against my better judgement We went in. I went to the bathroom, and it was filthy. These people clean their bathroom, once a month, tops. i like to go to Marie's after work on kareoke nights and it is a wonderful crowd. there's nothing like when half the bar is singing along with a song and everyone is excited to be there but the staff never lets it get too rowdy. even on nights when it's not as crowded, the staff is super friendly and always up to chat so you never have to be alone. the beer is super affordable and they always offer popcorn. it's a great community and it's my favorite bar in town. read more

Was in town for business. Waiter at a local restaurant suggested this place for a drink and karaoke.This place is a dive for sure. Beer and wine coolers only here. No mixed drinks. Waitress was very nice and brought fresh popped pop corn around periodically for the guests but she pushed us into buying a beer instead of the ice water we ordered. It is very hot in here and smoke is everywhere. Mostly locals come here and they are preferred over new guests. Karaoke is mediocre at best. The old man running it does not know how to mix sound, the microphones were muffled and the speakers are facing a wall instead of the room. Said the owner won't let him turn the volume up for singers or the music so the music and karaoke sucks. Prefers to call locals up to sing several times before he calls up new singers and is slow in everything he does. The locals won't clap for new people but do clap wildly for the locals even those some gave less than ok performances. Lots of drunks. Men and women in groups there clearly preferred each other, laughed to silly things, giggled the whole time we were there and put on 'shows' while they were singing. One of the women kept touching my arm and trying to flirt with me and several men came up to my husband to whisper talk to him and rub his arm. I guess that behavior is tolerated because they were buying lots of beer and they are probably not welcome elsewhere. The rest of the folks were older, seemed nice but were all drunk. Beware of cigarette smoke. It is very strong in here and is everywhere. There is always a line at the bathrooms and they smoke in there as well while they go potty in groups, chat, talk on cell phones and what ever else they were doing in there. Didn't stay long and had to take a bath as soon as we got back to the hotel. We reeked of cigarette smoke and it made us gag and cough. We had to take something for a headache. read more

Terrible experience at this place. I have been a performer in Knoxville for 10 yrs now and lots of people know me. In those 10 years I have been at bars a whole lot, either playing music or going out. Last night I came to this place for the first time. I ordered a beer (my second one of the night) and stood at the bar chatting with a friend when I clearly felt a hand holding and caressing the lower part of my butt. The place was not crowded and even in crowed places I have always been able to tell when someone accidentally bumps into me (my butt). I turned around incredibly upset asking 'wtf?!' to the guy, angry but expecting an explanation nevertheless. The guy? He just looked at me and said he 'was sorry'...I could not believe that he thought he can just touch someone and feel sorry about it later, it felt like he was more sorry of being confronted. I kept asking 'wtf?!' and he never explained himself, never said 'I promise you it was an accident' or anything at all, just that he was sorry. After we went like this for about a minute I realized he was not gonna give a crap how mad I got and knew I could do nothing about it so I did the one thing any other woman would in my place, I poured my whole beer on his head. Now, THIS is what sucked about the whole thing, as soon as this happened the door woman decided I should be the one to be kicked out. I was BAFFLED! She never asked me what happened, she just said 'he would not do something like that' ...well, apparently you are wrong lady, because your buddy or regular or whoever he is did indeed touch me in a way that was not 'accidental', and even then I gave him plenty of time to explain himself, which he could not even do. Door lady, even if you did think he 'would not do that' you should have at least tried to get both of our versions instead of escorting me out immediately. I felt violated first and then humiliated in front of people who knew who I was. You can make damn sure I will never bring you any business and will never have anything good to say about your staff. And btw, this has never happened to me in my life, not even close. You suck. read more
