    Line dancing

First time visitor, this place is fantastic! Not sure where to begin but the line dancing and the deals are definitely a lot to hoot and holler about! Went on a Sunday night for the free line dance lessons and ended up having a blast. The crowd turn out on a Sunday was definitely a lot and you can tell this place is a Sunday night community staple. I would recommend swinging on by

Came to Knoxville specifically to visit this place. Did a bunch of homework and research before I came down to make sure I wasn't wasting my time. I like to country line dance and it's hard to find places who still revel and thrive with the art of it. This place has got its quirks and it's different from my local honky tonk back home but Cotton Eyed Joe is the epitome of a true modern day honky tonk. The dances were authentic, there were people of all ages, pool tables, darts, mechanical bull, at least 4 bars, and a big dance floor. If you're a dancer this place is definitely for you! We went on Saturday but learned the best night is college night on Sundays. My only complaint was the DJ played from CD's and wasn't familiar with other music we listen to back home. I didn't expect him to play an entire playlist, but one song when it was early before it was busy would have been fine. People dance different everywhere and it's fun to learn what others do and how they do it. If I lived around here I'd be on the dance floor every day they were open. Will be back for sure.

This isn't a country bar! It was very disappointing. If you are looking for modern line dancing, then this is your spot.

Let me remind you that not so long ago in the 2000s, Geoff John's Green Lantern was one of the top selling books published by DC! This shows the sheer tragedy of the Ryan Reynolds GL movie. If that movie would have been better, this place would have at least one GL reference. Just imagine a Blackest Night or Brightest Day themed cocktail. Never forgot what they took from us. That being said, this place was delightful and you should absolutely go.

Neon lighting is everywhere, and the EXCELLENT service are all trained to verbally communicate as if you're in a space lounge. You're greeted at the front door with a funny line like, "Hello Captain, are you ready to greet your crew?" Then smoke surrounds you as the room "air locks", then a host brings you into the bar. The immersion is so fun! Most surprising were the menus, which you open and they glow in illuminated light... very futuristic. The drinks we ordered were absinthe specials, which were served in creative and smoky ways. Note: these were strong drinks :P I saw food at other tables and the pizza looked great. All in all, this bar is so immersive and I can't wait to return!

It was fairly busy when I visited, and there was a line to get beer, which isn't a problem. I happen to see a friend of mine waiting in line to get a beer. I walked over to speak with him. We hadn't seen each other in probably five or six years. Another guy cut in line right in front of him before he could get his beer. Then, when it was my friends turn, the bartender (Josh) was less than friendly. I realize that they're just pouring beer, but the gentleman was decidedly unfriendly, he did not smile even once; he did not even indicate that he was ready to take an order in anyway by acknowledging us with a look or anything. Heck, he didn't even speak to us. Honestly, he was just rude & beyond unfriendly. I don't get it. If you do not like your job, get a new one. If you don't like pouring beer for people (which does seem like a super great job), get a different job. The fact that he would be there on what appeared to be a fairly busy night, which is good for the business, and be so unpleasant is beyond my comprehension. So, the beer selection is very eclectic, with something for everyone. It's super great that you can buy beer to go. The female bartender was awesome. I'm conflicted on what sort of review that I should give Admiral pub, because there were so many positive aspects to it, except Josh pretty much ruined the entire experience by his sour demeanor (although I adore sour beers) and persistent scowl.

Cocktails were well done and the wine pairings recommended astute. Nothing to complain about except some of the items were cold - there was one person serving the entire bar and restaurant and obviously had some timing issues. Also some attitude: after delivering cocktails to my wife and me he forgot her mom's - after I reminded him he said "oh I know" and then proceeded to serve four other patrons' order at the bar and then another two top's before even starting hers. It finally arrived after the cold mushrooms were delivered. I'm chalking this up to a short staffed situation and a specific individual, so if you live nearby or are traveling through looking for a nice spot for dinner or lunch I would definitely recommend. The environment is also very pleasant with a nice bar and dining room of high top tables.

My spouse could only say "disappointing" about his. He ordered Thunder Road Chicken Nachos and a Caesar Salad. The Thunder sauce only penetrated the first layer of chips, so he requested another mini-ramekin (an extra 50 cents). A layer of raw (not pickled) jalapeño slices, some with seeds, dotted the top of the dish and was too hot for his taste, even with a ramekin of sour cream to soften the heat. And the Caesar salad: Unfortunately the greens became rather limp (lacked crunchiness) when coated with an oil-and-vinegar-tasting dressing. Thankfully a generous sprinkling of fresh Parmesan cheese and ample croutons completed the salad and made it acceptable. Not yet no least was our attentive server, whose name sounds like rain, treated us well.
