I was visiting from Virginia, 2 of my sons, my son's girlfriend and myself, went to Marietta Brewing Company for dinner. Parking is street parking, which is very limited, especially on the weekends. I used to go there regularly when I lived in Marietta, but it had been years since I'd eaten there, and I'd forgotten how good their food is. I ordered an appetizer for dinner (chicken and black bean quesadillas). My sons both ordered the Cuban and fries, and my son's girlfriend had an Alfredo penne pasta with grilled chicken and a salad, which looked delicious! They ordered nachos with beef for the table, which were just okay. Made a quick stop in the ladies restroom, I found it to be nicely decorated, but definitely in need of a cleaning. It wasn't terribly dirty, but they should have someone regularly checking on it, and it looked like it hadn't been checked on for a while. Service was decent. Waitress was busy, but helpful. She wasn't super friendly, but was professional. Prices are on the high end for the area, but portions are adequate. Overall, I enjoy supporting locally owned restaurants, and this one is one of the better options for the area. read more

Great little brewery! Beautiful old building. Decorated with hand painted murals of their brews. I had a couple of the Rock Drop Single Session IPA's, great flavor, well worth a try. We ordered the mozzarella cheese sticks and the spinach artichoke dip. Both came out piping hot, the artichoke dip was definitely my favorite. A great mix of flavors and is definitely homemade. Our waitress for the afternoon was outstanding! Professional, checked up on us a lot and talked with us quite a bit. Definitely a good place to stop if you're in downtown Marietta. read more

I've been to Marietta Brewing Company twice now and the atmosphere and service are both exceptional. It's a short walk from the Lafayette Hotel, the regions main place to stay, so it's convenient if you're looking to venture out. I can't comment on their beer, but I suppose if you were in the mood to relax at the bar with a drink and an appetizer MBC would be a good choice. I would consider the food here to be on par with the other restaurants within walking distance of the Lafayette, which isn't saying much. Overall, both experiences here were underwhelming which is disappointing because it is a convenient, well designed place. read more

Prior to 2020, we used to go to the MBC for lunch but haven't been since the pandemic. The changes were a bit shocking. Pros- the waitress was super nice and attentive. Decor is rustic with exposed brick, attractive wood work, clean, and well maintained. The murals are eye catching. Spinach artichoke dip was good, served with tortilla chips and warmed pita wedges. Cons- the menu used to have pasta, sandwiches, burgers, even tuna and, in general, was more expansive. Unfortunately the menu has been reduced to some appetizer style dishes, a few wraps, 5 salads and 4 personal pizzas to select from and that's it. Prices were inflated. Unfortunately we were seeking a Friday night dinner and MBC couldn't provide. If you want drinks and an appetizer, great place to hang out. read more

Haven't been here in a few years but visited 11/24. The menu is not what it used to me. A lot less selection for dinner. I'm a beer guy, that's how I found this place years ago. I ordered an American/Texas brown ale. It's supposed to be hoppy with light chocolate notes. The beer had no hop aroma and was definitely infected. I could smell the brettanomyces. Disappointed. Comfortable brew restaurant in downtown Marrietta. The spicy buffalo wrap was decent. They split the portion in half as we weren't very hungry and didn't want 2 full orders. Tried one of their flagship beers, Cooper Copper Ale which was just okay. The hamburgers served next to is looked good, and the young couple are their entire lunch. We stopped here Saturday late afternoon before going to a concert. We really appreciated the bartender's service. She went out of the way to make conversation and made a recommendation for dinner. We were just stopping to have a beer but had two. My wife does not like many beers so she did not like their beer and had a Bud. I had a dark ale and loved it. We tried but did not like the raspberry wheat though. It tasted like hairspray and cough syrup. The menu looked good for bar fare and food looked good that was around us other guests were eating. When we visited this most recent time, the brewery was almost completely empty but we tried a flight of all of the beers on tap and enjoyed a few while relaxing. I have attended the brewery for many years for everything from reunions to concerts and more and have enjoyed watching it grow. I visited twice for dinner The first evening I was impressed with presentation of their portobello Gouda burger. The side potato had an interesting zigzag cut. On the second evening the baked potato was cut normally. What does that mean. Lazy cook on the second evening or an enthusiastic chef on the first evening. That's why I only gave 4 stars since they don't have quality control. This means you may get good food today and so-so tomorrow They have a red pepper pesto on it. It was ok I also had their red ale. Very good. Low bitter value I had their rib eye on the second evening. I think it was too salty for me. Also I asked for medium. But since the outside is seared it is practically almost well done. My husband and I are born and raised Louisiana natives. A few years ago his job brought us to Marietta Ohio where we lived for about a year. Being from Louisiana, naturally we love good food, good beer, and good people. Thankfully, we found those things at Marietta Brewing. Their trivia night became a staple in our lives while we lived in Marietta. We still talk about this place with much love years later, from back home in Louisiana. 10/10 recommend. Marietta Brewing Company is one of the more interesting things around. It's good that somewhere like this is here. There was a lack of good bars. It wouldn't be nearly as successful in a bigger city but there's not any competition. The local beers were all good. I am impressed with how nice the inside was. It has such a modern yet humble interior. The brick walls and the stained wood are nice touches. It has a not too big selection of local beer. The happy hour is good. It's $2.75 for a pint. The Estella Raspberry Wheat is the best. It's sweet while not being overpoweringly wheaty. The food menu isn't as impressive. It has a few good and healthier items. There's a black bean burger and salads. It's all right but kind of expensive. There isn't much else beyond the typical bar fare. I would stop in to Marietta Brewing Company the next time around. Wow has this place changed. We used to LOVE this place for a good burger and the brewpub pizza! We came in and the menu is down to one side and the other side is drinks--none of their classics remain on the menu. We did have a drink a piece and they were just ok--my beer looked and tasted flat but my husband said his cocktail was ok. We almost just ate our app (spin dip which was basically hot cream cheese and hardly anything else) and left but decided to give one of the VERY limited items a go for dinner and I wish we wouldn't have. We both had the fish "platter" which was three pieces of deep fried fish. No fries or anything and to boot our fish was soggy on the inside of the batter--gross. A side of fries is another $5 per serving. Needless to say our dinner after tip was almost $80. We will NOT be back. Super disappointed in how much this place has "downsized" their menu to save funds. read more

I ordered mozzarella sticks for $9, and the Swiss cheese burger with waffle fries for $14. Over all I think for their quality they are overpriced. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't amazing enough for the burger. The mozzarella sticks were good as fried cheese goes. All the food tasted hot and fresh. They give you a fair amount of food overall. My review is so high because the staff was absolutely wonderful and the aesthetic was amazing as well. The different pictures on the wall were nice. My first Mid-Ohio Valley dining experience (though I'm guessing it won't be the last)! It's a typical brewpub, so the ambiance is pretty boisterous and noisy (which is helpful if you're just kind of mutually staring awkwardly around). As a non-consumer of alcoholic beverages, I was happy to see that they had a house root beer, which was solid though not particularly outstanding. I stuck with a simple spinach salad (which is pretty hard to mess up), and it was just fine. I also had a bite of the seared tuna which was not bad, all things considered. My friend and I spent the day all over Marietta and decided to try this place. I was pleasantly surprised because the beers + food menu was pretty inexpensive compared to other places we've been. We sampled a few beers and ended up getting the pale ale and copper ale - both very refreshing! I also liked the milk stout but was planning on eating as well so I didn't want to feel too full from it. Also known as "The Brewery" in town, the Marietta Brewing Company is famous for its Thursday night karaoke (at least with the college kids). In general, they have some pretty good food at great prices, and its a great place to go for a quick bite and some cold drinks...but nothing compares to the night life on Thursdays. It was always a weekly trip down to the brew with all my Marietta College friends on Thursday nights where everyone would sign up for their turn at the mic! I would only go up when intoxicated and in groups...which is more than welcomed! Fridays & Saturdays are more risky...they usually feature a band or something and it's hit or miss with the entertainment level. I say that mostly because it wasn't necessarily big for the younger crowd, but more so the older townies. Don't get me wrong, Fri & Sat could still be fun there, but Thursdays were ALWAYS fun. It was the best way to start a weekend. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. Big old brewing machines, high ceilings, etc. And the staff is pretty good too...nothing to really complain about here! **Oh, and before I forget. "Woodchuck" is on tap and that is a FANTASTIC cider. Pitchers are 4 or 5 bucks...pretty cheap. ^^October 2007 revisit: No more karaoke on Thursday nights since the old DJ left and they can't find a new one. Apparently Thursday nights are less popular. But a nice little surprise is that they bought a space next door and expanded into a special room that you can reserve for functions. This is one of those "is-what-it-is" places. It's large and open, clean, has an okay menu of bar food and bottles. They do, however, brew their own beer. This is what makes them unique and a god send if your visiting Marietta and having draft withdraw. I won't go into the beer they brew; check out their site for those deets. Their Happy Hour price is only $2.75 for a pint--crazy! You can get a paddle sampler of everything (which I recommend) but this wasn't mentioned anywhere. I asked the server if I could get one. I WILL say to all my IPA lovin' brethren their Buck(I)PA (clever name, right) is pretty good (ABV: 7.0%; IBU: 75.) Better than CBC IPA? HOW DARE YOU EVEN ASK THAT? ...pretty close.... Their bottle selection is descent, including some Ohio brews from Jackie O's (cans, of course), Fat Heads (seasonal), Great Lakes and Elevator Brewing. Again, check out their site. Oh, and they have root beer on tap. No, not "adult root beer"--the regular stuff. As for food, it was just okay. I was really wanting some fish so I got their Fish Sandwich (breaded and fried cod) with fries (thick cut) and I subbed out the rye for a hamburger bun. Somewhat disappointed in the cod size--smaller than the bun. I was hoping for one of those comical fish sandwiches were the fish was bigger than the bun ...and plate. I mean it was alright. There service was really good, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly, but the food just wasn't there. I had the beer and bacon burger and it was dry and overcooked, while I was there I also had the onion rings, they were good but very greasy. During my visit I also had the pub nachos, they weren't very good, I could have made those in the microwave. The cheese stuck the chips all stuck together and they were dry. Also it is overpriced for what you get, I paid 15 dollars for a burger that I could have gotten at McDonalds. read more

Tried this place based on yelp and traveling with friends that like craft brews. Decor is cool laid back. If you are coming for football there aren't too many TVs so get there early to get a table with a view. Food was great. We tried the loaded waffle fries for a side - so worth it. Could have used a little more bacon but good. The beer cheese burger was really good. The patty was chard on the outside and still juicy just how I like it. Also at the Table was chicken tenders - above average, and the Italian hoagie which was really good but not very Italian. The food is great! However, the service is terrible. Most of the employees just seem to be disgruntled and annoyed to be there. Got seated and waited ten minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. It wasn't until a waitress overheard us complaining amongst ourselves, that we were acknowledged. Now, Lauren was super great after she assisted us, even out of her area. The waiter assigned to our area just meandered around like a walking dead cast member playing a zombie. I say the service is terrible do to multiple visits with similar service as the zombie server exhibited. We're craft beer lovers so were anxious to give this place a try. We like to sit at the bar and talk about the beers with the bartenders. It's has a typical bar look and feel. We were just there for drinks and possibly an appetizer. There was a sign to "Please wait to be seated" when we arrive and after standing around for a few minutes waiting to be greeted and not being noticed we headed to the bar. The guy at the bar didn't seem especially eager to give us any attention. While we were waiting we checked out their home brews on the board - there were only 4 including a milk stout, an IPA, a rootbeer and I believe a raspberry wheat. Another server eventually handed us a menu and took our drink ordered. I ordered the raspberry wheat and my husband ordered the milk stout. My beer was good, and I enjoyed it but we're really not sure what my husband got in his glass. It didn't have a head, looked like chocolate milk, and was very carbonated and hoppy. It certainly wasn't like any milk stout we had ever seen or tasted before. Frankly, I couldn't have ingested it. None of the employees seemed real anxious to interface with customers. We had to wave one down to pay. No one followed up to see how we liked their beer. There was no "thank you" from the bartender or from the guy draped over a chair by the "Please wait to be seated" sign. Not a place I would bother visiting again.
