I have long, untreated hair and even offered suggestions that have worked in the past, but she dismissed them. The final style looked nothing like the photos--lopsided, messy, bobby pins exposed--and started falling apart soon after. I had to go back before my event just to have it taken down. A different stylist removed the pins and apologized. I paid $104 and ended up redoing my hair myself in a hotel lobby before the wedding rehearsal. I've passed by Pink Soda for years and figured I'd give it a shot. I called to make the appointment as the tan options were a little confusing (hot chocolate was one and I just wasn't sure what it meant), and the woman I spoke to on the phone was so nice. Took the time to explain the options to me, the preparation and the after care for a tan. Went for my tan after work. I totally didn't realize they moved from next to elbow room to above the shish kebab house. It was super clear on their website so this is on me. Walked up what was a kind of dingy looking hallway and stairs but eventually found my way up. Walked into the salon and the woman tanning me didn't really confirm who I was which wasn't a big deal but then just said "we're doing your spray tan in the bathroom down the hall", grabbed one of the pop up spray tan tents and went for the door. I was confused but whatever, followed her. We walked into a public bathroom in the hallway where she set up the tent in the front of the sinks and instructed me to go to the stall and change, sending me along with barrier cream to put on. She gave minimal instruction for the cream which could have been worse for someone not familiar with spray tanning. I wasn't provided a hair net (to be fair, I have dark hair), and also wasn't given the paper sticky things for your feet either. So here I am, naked, in the Shish Kebab house bathroom getting spray tanned. The bathroom was pretty gross with things being damp, exposed pipe; I can't believe I was barefoot in there? Also if you've ever been to the Bunker in the basement of the shish kebab house, you know it has a distinct frat basement bar odor, this smell does elevate to the top floor! Then it dawns on me, I'm NAKED...in the PUBLIC BATHROOM. I ask her if anyone is going to walk in and she informed me she put a trash can in front of the door so it should be good. The tan itself was okay, but I definitely wasn't dried enough. I did ask her to dry me a little more which is when she realized she didn't do my inner thighs; honest mistake, it got done, no big deal. But as soon as I got in the car, in my 6 minute drive home, the seat belt made a mark in the tan on my neck which was a bummer. When I went to pay, the only clickable option to tip was 22%, which I just paid. I recognize the spray tan limitations were so not her fault. But in the end I spent nearly 80 bucks on a spray tan that wasn't any better than my 15 dollar machine tan. I definitely expected more and did not return for another tan before my wedding. I'd return to try for another service but for spray tans, unless you want to be able to say "I got spray tanned in the shish kebab house bathroom" (a new fun story to tell!) I'd reconsider.

And looked so disgusting that I had to keep my hair up or braided to not draw attention. The entire appointment Jennifer was rude and making excuses for the AWFUL things she was doing to my hair. She got to the point of cutting random chunks of my hair. I was naive and thought it was my fault based on the fact I had never lightened my hair before. She was blaming the way my hair was colored (wasn't colored), the way my hair was cut, and any other excuse she could pull. I later found out that this woman specializes in MENS HAIRCUTS. and had never mentioned to me once about how uncomfortable she was or unconfident that she could do a good job. She kept me under the dryer for almost 40 minutes with bleach and foil in my hair. And toward the end of the appointment admitted defeat by saying "I don't care what clients think of their hair, as long as I like it I know I did a good job." It's safe to say I got a refund from the owner who again, was incredibly nice. I'm just baffled that this other professional did not mention her uncertainty once and royally messed up my completely healthy hair. I was able to fix it at Beautiful People salon in Cromwell (see my review on their page to see final results). I will never be asking for Jennifer again, and am so disappointed with how unprofessional the entire experience was.

I was realistic in my color choice & was still staying in the "dark" color family so why did I walk out with orange, brassy hair? When I say orange...I mean literally orange. I was too nice since I saw Kellys eyes get watery when I told her it wasn't what I wanted and I didn't notice the fall out until I got home. The next day, I went back and had Sammy Jo try to fix it. She applied a nice color that quickly washed off after my 1st wash. All I was left with was dried, orange, shreds of long and short brillo-like hair. Only if you don't like your hair, then you can give them a try. Maybe they'll do a nice job with cuts but I woudn't trust them with color or anything that involves chemicals.

I'm the type of person who does things like hair last minute because, on my days off, I have a lot to do (but I'm also an antsy person and I know it takes long). It. Was. Worth. It. When I called to make an appointment, they told me "walk-in's only on Saturday" so, naturally, I was there at 7:59AM expecting a line at the door. To my surprise, I was pleasantly greeted, taken to a chair within minutes and immediately consulted. Calling all humans with hair: go here. A lot of people are intimidated by the idea of going to get their hair done by anything less than a 'professional'. Good for them, go pay $80 for a trim. Prior to this, my best result was with a woman down south who taught hair at a cosmetology school before making the coveted leap to an "upscale" salon. She was awesome. I only have the one experience with Ms. Karen and Yanna, but Ms. Karen was very attentive the entire time. was truly involved in the teaching process and really understood what I wanted. (I'm not basic.. lol) Yanna comes from a long line of barbers and hair stylists. She is going to be one of the greats, because she cares. THIS is the best my hair has ever looked. Shout out to Becca too for helping with the foils and the color on the front hairline. Sure, my full foil took a little longer that usual, so if you aren't patient, bring a book and chill the F*ck out. Just mentally prepare yourself. I'd say it's like Padawan's learning from Jedi. This was years ago. Second complaint another student left me while she went to the Finance office and Miss Karen was livid about it. Third complaint was a few weeks ago. I had asked for low and high lights and ended up with grayish tones throughout my hair so upon calling that Monday to ask if they could fix it, Miss Marie told me it's a school and I said what does that have to do with anything so I went in on Thursday and they put a blonde toner in and of course it was better than nothing compared to the way I left so beware if you even speak up about the service because you're not pleased, you will be asked to never come back, this is very unprofessional and if it's a school, then the students would have to learn just as if they worked in a real Salon, etc.. I had never left a review before because I didn't think it was necessary. I thought the School was handling it, but then I was told they were taking notes about me very childish and unprofessional upon trying to call the owner Mr. G who owns a very successful business in Rocky Hill he never returned my phone calls just had his reception take information and never got back to me! I also left an email for Martin G and he never responded. I'm not the first do your due diligence and gore reviews all over other platforms. Miss Marie has zero class and had Miss Pam tell me upon me leaving that I cannot come back there!
