What a fun coffee shop! So welcoming, such an amazing vibe, great coffee and matcha, and friendly staff! We stopped by for the first time over the weekend and can't wait to go back. I stopped into Longway, which appeared to be a shared storefront and got a Arnold Palmer to go. I will say I didn't love that the ice was so packed in I couldn't get a straw in, but the service was prompt and friendly and the drink was delicious. They also have quite a bit of outside seating, which was fantastic. All in all, I would definitely return. read more

Longway has great aesthetics. More San Francisco or Portland, than Marin, it's a quirky, blend of coffee house, work space, community gathering spot and retail. Service is friendly. The expresso drinks here offered a mixed experience. My first drink, a coconut crème expresso was excellent. Strong and delicious, they apparently make their own coconut crème in-house. We all know there is a worldwide shortage, but unfortunately the matcha we ordered was lacking a depth of flavor and color, despite watching a skilled barista beautifully blend the powder with a traditional whisk (chasen.) The end result of her efforts was "matcha lite." I like this spot, and we noted it's a popular choice for remote work, but steer towards expresso drinks if you are a fan of potent flavors. read more

As a reminder, I contact small businesses directly with suggestions when the service and/or food is in need of improvement. I do not use Yelp to express my less than stellar opinions because small business operation is challenging and can be unfairly adversely affected by "a bad day." During the three visits to Longway for coffee beverages with three different baristas, the coffee products have been stellar! Rarely, have I tasted espresso derived beverages as good as those served by Longway. They have selected a fruit forward flavored espresso that is balanced by milk which that has been stretched correctly with care. Often third wave coffee shops have an upcharge for this particular flavor profile blend. My perception is that the requisite skill for brewing excellent espresso derived drinks requires dedicated training and an aptitude for "dialing in" the coffee - akin to a trained and talented chef vs a line cook simply following a recipe. Admittedly, I am a particular about coffee. I would like to give a shout out to the owner and staff who strive to consistently serve among the very best I have sampled globally!. read more

Impressed is an understatement. My boyfriend works in the area and tells me his coworkers rave about their matcha. I couldn't wait to try it myself. It reminds me a lot of the coffee shops in LA or SF. Service was great and on it! I ordered an iced matcha latte, oat milk, 1 extra scoop of matcha, less sweet with maple syrup, & cinnamon on top. My boyfriend ordered their seasonal mint matcha which was delish as well! As a self-proclaimed matcha connoisseur -- I approve. This is by far one of my favorite coffee shops -- ever. I remember discovering it years ago, even before I moved to San Anselmo, and it's been a special place to me ever since. The space is charming and unique, and they've recently remodeled it to be even cuter -- seriously, it's twice as lovely now. They use top-quality ingredients, which really shows in every drink and bite. The owner is incredibly sweet and always in a great mood, which sets the tone for the whole place. The service is consistently great, and the small personal touches really stand out -- I hadn't been in for a while, and on my recent visit, one of the baristas still remembered my name. That meant a lot. Highly recommend if you're looking for great coffee with heart and character. read more

I wanted to love Longway. It hits different upon first impression. Behind the low key vibe, there many things going on. It's a retail shop/cafe/community space. As I found myself navigating beyond the slogans and seemingly cool esthetics, I wasn't feeling it. Inconsistent cafe drinks(sometimes good sometimes not) and the selection of "eco-friendly fashion" had me wondering if there were a workshop of toddlers in the back designing it all. The oversized drawstring pants feel like an inspiration from the baby section at Target. What are we tasting and trying on here that makes this place worth our time? read more

I've been wanting to check this coffee shop out for awhile, but sadly, I picked the bad time to go. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I called ahead to check their hours and learned that today might be the last day that they stayed open given the situation. Since the hours were super short, I only went in to get Oat milk mocha to go. The coffee shop is all the way in the back since the space is shared with Neve & Hawk Clothing Store. Loved the cute space and decor. My barista was asking a lot of questions which I would probably appreciate more if I wasn't in a rush. There wasn't any hand sanitizer by the counter but luckily I brought my own just in case. The barista made sure she washed her hands before touching anything & used paper towel to hand me the lid. I also bought a succulent cupcake that was super cute. I was told it made by someone who had competed in a Food Network show or something. Well, it was a good-looking cupcake. Too bad it was way too sweet! My mocha was okay, not great. I tried to get out as fast as possible today so I hope that in the future when I didn't feel to rush out, I can enjoy the space and drinks more. read more

Amazing. 10/10. 1,000,000,000/1,000,000,000. The coffee shop in the back is a wonderful spot to stop by and have delicious, ethically grown coffee and local pastries. I have seen a couple people leave reviews that the coffee was over priced compared to other coffee shops in the area, which is A) not true, the prices are pretty much the same as anywhere you'd find in the area, and B) the brand they serve (Lady Falcon) is ethically sourced, and owned and run by women, so if it's "over priced" you get the quality you pay for. Everybody in the chain of supply, from the growers to the roasters to the baristas, are all paid fair liveable wages so any additional price is not something to complain about. Also, the quality of the coffee they serve is immaculate. Mochas are made with a ganache made fresh in house, whipped cream is also made fresh in house, every drink has a specific way it is prepared to meet the standard of the supplier (Lady Falcon), and on top of all of this, the beans are sourced from one of the only women owned and run coffee roasters. So if you're looking for a comforting, cozy environment to to get amazing coffee or tea along with some cool clothes, Longway is the place to go. If you're looking to get cheap, Starbucks-quality coffee, then maybe don't go to a place called "Longway" where they take the literal and metaphorical "long way" to ensure that everything they sell is ethically and locally sourced. This is a truly wonderful small business that offers nothing but the best, from their clothes to their beans to their service quality. read more

The coffee and tea are the most overpriced cafe items in Marin county. This cafe is a walking distance from the entry of the main clothing store, to the very rear of the shop. When you get to the end of the shop, where usually no one is present, then you know you have reached the destination. Coffee is good, at times, for at about %25 higher in price ,than any other cafe in Marin county.The service at this coffee stop ,by a couple of male baristas (oxymorons), that I've experienced,let's say. Is way Less than stellar. I'm being PC! I it must be the current, difficult hiring situation, that has effectively hurt,many of us. I have had their pour over coffee on 2 separate occasions ( their specialty ) ,both times, the coffee was not hot. Actually both times they we're lukewarm/ not worth the time or the taste or at half the price! The actual complete coffee area is no more than a 15x20ft area. Seating is a white picnic table , family style seating. Very uncomfortable and privacy is what ownership had not thought about. The atmosphere is similar to a public library. Actually. Has the similarity or vibe ,to a masoleum!! I believe that seating would be improved with used caskets , in a circle. Would be appropriate. This is a Very small area that was an after thought , when planning the coffee area . The daily Pastries are almost non existent. If you arrive after 9;30, empty pastry cubby hole. I believe on weekends the coffee area sells Johnie's doughnuts, which are . More than $5.00 per doughnut ,Pairs very well with the most expensive , overated roasted coffee beans located in the bay area, or possibly the west coast. These Doughnuts have the consistency of a super dense ,heavy bread, that has added sugar. Not my favorite. A San Rafael., 4th st tradition. There are at least 4 or more cafes in downtown,San Anselmo that should be experienced, besides this picnic table, overpriced coffee klatch. I was inspired to write this review because I feel like Enrique and I are talking about two different coffee shops! Maybe the coffee is slightly more expensive than Coffee Roasters or the Roastery? I affectionately refer to that style of coffee as "dad coffee," but if you want to compare prices, you should do an apples to apples comparison and look at another third wave coffee shop like MH Bread and Butter down the road. Longway's prices are the same if not less, plus you get better coffee, better service and don't have to deal with a long line. I go here almost every day and love the Lady Falcon coffee as well as their non-coffee stuff like matcha and the hibiscus cascara. It's my default place to meet friends as they have a really cute parklet, perfect for sitting outside when we're in the middle of a Covid surge like this. I also get a ton of my clothes here! They have their own brand, which I love, and they carry some of my other favorites too (Rachel Pally, Mollusk, West Perro... I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting). And lastly the people who work here are the best! I've seen a lot of baristas come and go, but they seem to do a really good job attracting kind, pleasant people. And Justine is so sweet and seems to remember everyone in town. My husband doesn't even go in as often as I do, but when he was picking up coffee and donuts on Mother's Day, she told him to tell me happy Mother's Day from her. She's the best. Oh man and I didn't even mention the Cibo pastries and Johnny Donuts on the weekend! What's not to love??? Worth every penny. read more

It an unassuming coffee shop in the back of a clothing shop. I'd been referenced here a few times, as having the best coffee in Marin. I decided to try them out last week. Todays my 3 time in for the latte. It's amazingly good, in my opinion. So smooth, and no need for sweetener. I always put sweetener in my coffee. Now I haven't been to every coffee shop in Marin, but I've been to a good number of them. I always have to use sweetener, it's usually to bitter and not very smooth(as is). I don't know how the rest of the drinks are, as I'm sure they're delicious as well. Once I try some more I'll change to 5 star. read more

This is a great boutique x coffee shop situation in quaint downtown San Anselmo. I've been here a handful of times over the years and have enjoyed my visit every time. To cope with the pandemic they recently added an outdoor dining patio space, complete with some adorable string lights. Everyone who works here is super friendly and makes you feel good about yourself when you enter the store and leave - top tier quality service right there! Give this place a visit, buy your friend that you haven't seen in ages a gift, grab a coffee (I recommend the iced coffee with a dash of milk and vanilla), and enjoy some peace on the outdoor patio. Great store. I'm so glad places like this are finally coming to our area. Neve & Hawk is full of creative, hip and too-cool-for-school items. They have great unique screen printed t-shirts from their workshop in the back of the store and lots of other clothes made of fine fabrics and textures. Overall, they offer some nice things that are California surf inspired. The only issue I had was that the two girls working there this past Sunday (8/26/18) couldn't be bothered to leave their conversation between themselves. We were in the store for over 20 minutes and they never once said hello. Not a deal breaker obviously, just a bit unfriendly for such a cool store. read more

Kris and their pup Frankenstein have always greeted our crazy little family with the warmest welcomes, and that means so much to this mama. I moved from San Francisco to San Anselmo over a year ago and have deeply missed the coffee I could access regularly near my home. Hell, I lived near Andy Town, one of the best of the newest wave of coffee houses. The coffee in every direction of my house in San ANSELMO is tasteless or burnt. I have not been able to get a correctly frothed expresso drink anywhere. No depth to my drink. And then I had coffee at neve & hawk. The baristas at N & H know how to make an outstanding rich and creamy cup of coffee. I almost couldn't believe it when I first tasted it!
