All on it's own Marina del Ray sits on the water and has some lovely views of the Whitestone and Throgs Neck bridges. Entering the property you sense that you are in for a treat. Walking into the lobby you are warmly greeted by a large water fountain and some nice decor. I attended a fairly large wedding and there was also a Christmas party going on at the same time, but you would have never known it if I had not overheard there was another event in the building. Back to the wedding. The cocktail hour included a ton of options, everything from cold antipasto to sliders and hot dogs to crab cakes and fried calamari. With over 250 people the room seemed a bit hectic, but there were lots of tables to sit and enjoy the food. The food was very tasty and the staff was on top of clearing away dirty plates as well as keeping the food options full. Entering the reception room you are greeted with the lovely view of the water. Tables were spaced out well, so I didn't feel crowded while sitting. On the other hand I thought the dance floor was a little small for the amount of people. Dinner started off with a sorbet followed by a pasta course and entree. The sorbet was standard, the pasta with vodka sauce was OK, however the linguine with white clam sauce was much better. Entrees consisted of about 7 options. The prime rib was lacking some seasoning, but the potatoes and veggies were on the salty side. Portions were huge and after all the cocktail hour food it was hard for anyone to finish their plate. The wedding cake was moist and delicious and the coffee was hot and bold. About an 1.5 before the end of the reception the viennese hour commenced and tables were wheeled out onto the dance floor and were covered with fruit, cakes, cookies, cannolis, a chocolate fountain, made to order bananas foster and much more. They even offered containers to take items to go. For the most part the staff was good, but small things like not having water glasses refilled are things that can be improved upon. The acoustics in the room are not all that great, it was hard to hear what people are saying. In addition the layout of the room made it hard to see what was going on on the dance floor if you were not right there. All in all, Marina del Ray throws a lovely wedding with some good food and you are sure to have a great time. read more

Went to a beautiful wedding here on a Friday night recently, in the Bellagio room. Food (every thing I ate was absolutely delicious and tasted very fresh), views, service, all of it was amazing and really had a lovely time. Almost every single person working the wedding was so nice and welcoming (the coat check lady was not as warm as the rest of the employees, but only a little bit less so). Bathroom stalls were a little dated, but that's about all I found as negatives. Very much loved it here - the bride and groom picked the right place for their wedding!! P.S. Make sure you take a walk to the back to take in the view - absolutely beautiful!! read more

Came here for a wedding this past Friday and the grounds are really beautiful. The ceremony was held outside on the patio which is right in between the Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges. You are just feet away from the water and you can see the city skyline as well. After the ceremony we were moved into an area where the food was for cocktail hour. The room had windows on the entire wall and they were facing the water. There were a lot of options for cocktail hour but no passed hors d'oeuvres. There was also a deck that was attached to the room where you could go out and sit as they were many couches and chairs. A fabulous area. The reception was then held in another room that was further back in the area where you no longer had the incredible views of the water. The room was really well decorated so and it had its own patio area with propane gas tables outside. The food was very good but the steak that I had ordered had a lot of fat. Marina Del Rey is absolutely beautiful! I attended this location as a wedding guest and was extremely pleased. The women's room was stocked with EVERYTHING you would ever need - lint remover, bobby pins, perfume, hair sprays to even sewing kits! I have no complaints at ALL for this location. There is one specific reason I HAD to write a review because this one person truly stood out. The banquet manager Joe Orzo was absolutely amazing! I will be hiring this man for my own wedding and will be recommending him to everyone. He was beyond personable, and extremely professional. He was so amazing at what he does that I thought he was apart of the family who was having the wedding. That is how great he was! He kept the entire wedding organized and going! I recently had my wedding last weekend December 17th. It was the best experience I could've ever thought of and more! We did the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. It was so beautiful and intimate. I didn't hire a wedding planner but once you have ideas Marina will do the rest for you. From everything in decor, handing out programs, directing guests to proper rooms and keeping the music in sequence for the ceremony. I thought I would have to get a family member to help out but all we had to do was leave directions and they did the rest. Amazing!!! JOE ORZO is a master in this craft and kept our entire day perfect!! If you don't know something he has an answer for everything. He genuinely loves what he does. He wanted to know and was interested in every detail from my dress to even my bridal shower. And always gave me advice if I was nervous about anything to help keep me level headed through the process. The food was amazingly delicious! My family didn't know there was more food after the cocktail hour. It was so much of a variety of food and drinks. They were able to take food home. I've never been offered that option at any wedding ever! Hands down was the best choice we could have ever made. Me and Joe are now friends. :) The bridal attendant we had Tanya was amazing. She was so genuine and willing to help with everything. She always knew what she should be doing without a hitch! My husband and I are trying to think of the next event to do at Marina. Oh. My. God. I don't usually start reviews like this, but Marina del Rey is one hell of a caterer. I just attended a wedding reception here and I had such a phenomenal time. The place is beautiful, the views exceptional, the food outstanding and the staff is professional and on top of everything. These people know how to host a wedding. The cocktail hour had so much food that I had to literally stop eating so I could save room for dinner. I have been to many weddings, and I have never seen so much food at a cocktail hour before. From paella to mini hamburgers and hotdogs to sushi, pasta, stuffed mushrooms, ribs, a carving station - you name it, they were serving it. Dinner was equally wonderful. The meal started off with a lovely sorbet and then, after the toasts, a first course of pasta. Guests had two choices for this particular course and I selected the rigatoni. It was quite good and in any other setting would have been an entree in and of itself. The other pasta choice was manicotti, and after it was served the waiters came around with huge platters of ricotta cheese for the topping. By the time the staff brought out the main course, it was almost impossible for anyone at my table to eat anything. The portions were absolutely enormous! I had the eggplant parmigiana, and I strongly suspect an entire eggplant was used in the preparation of my portion alone. It was delicious, but there was so much that I couldn't finish it. The potatoes and vegetables that were served on the side were tasty and well-prepared. Other entrees included chicken, shrimp scampi, a massive filet mignon and salmon, all of which were served in huge portions and looked delicious. The evening concluded with the cake, which was beautiful, and these incredible Viennese dessert tables. The desserts were beautifully presented and the selection was enough to fill a small bakery. The staff is everything you could want for your evening. They are professional, courteous and committed. Water glasses were refilled promptly, orders were taken with grace, everything was done without you having to ask someone to do it. The maitre d at this reception was equally professional and proficient. He greeted everyone when they arrived, moved the guests from the cocktail hour to the reception room with ease and made sure everyone knew where he or she was going. I'd also like to note that there was another reception taking place at the same time, and with the exception of a stray bridesmaid or two in the lobby (well after my party's cocktail hour had already begun), I never saw those people. Not in the bathroom, not in the hallway, not outside. Nowhere. The staff is very good at separating events so that you don't end up with a "wedding factory" feel to your evening. I would be totally remiss if I didn't mention Marina del Rey's gorgeous views. I hate the word "breathtaking" because I feel it is very overused, but there isn't really any other adjective that adequately describes the panoramic scenery that Marina del Rey boasts. The backdrop of the water and the bridges is gorgeous, and the on-site gazebo is very pretty. It's illuminated at night, too. All in all, this place is outstanding on every level. My wife and I were recently married here in April. Joe Savigno and the entire crew of the Marina Del Rey were exceptional and made our wedding picture perfect. I am still hearing people give me the feedback on how amazing the cocktail hour was and the entree selections and consider our wedding to be one of the best they have been to, and we owe a LARGE part of that to the Marina! Joe Savigno did not stop the entire night and really spent the time needed with my wife and I to ensure we had the perfect evening. Everything went off like clockwork. My wife had met with Joe the day before we were married and laid out her vision of how the rooms would be set up to accommodate our theme (Phantom of the Opera). She told me that Joe completely made her vision a reality and she couldn't have asked for more. I wish my wife and I were able to partake in the Cocktail Hour, but we are so happy our guests enjoyed it. Once the reception started, the flow of the courses was seamless and the perfect balance of dancing and eating. We made a request to have White Castle served during our Viennese Hour, and sure enough, Joe sent a waiter to White Castle to pick up 200 burgers (which were a HUGE hit that night). I came back to Marina Del Rey for another Event. This time the weather was better and I got to explore the grounds. There are so many spots for great pictures. The cocktail hour food was just as tasty as the first time, the servers were friendly and the bartenders were lightening-fast. They also use a great baker for the cake (Sal and Dom's) which was yummy. One Waiter re-folded my napkin at least twice and he offered to pack my dinner for me because I was too full from cocktail hour. There is only one bathroom but it is nicely decorated and spotless. The view and waterfront are breathtaking. I am bumping up my score because I've been there twice and was very impressed by the ambiance both times. Consistency gets this place five stars. read more

My friends who are getting married invited us to Marina Del Rey to join them at the tasting that Marina Del Rey has for those who will be getting married there. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful venue! From the moment you enter, you notice the beauty and warm atmosphere of the venue. When we entered, there were servers handing out champagne and non alcoholic beverages. We then stepped into one of the ballrooms - very beautiful. You really do not need much from a decoration aspect because the room is so beautiful. The outside is beautiful as well...you are right by the water and there is a beautiful gazebo. The food - oh goodness! The food was great! Since this was a tasting, I really thought that we would have small bites, but oh no! You get to select a full meal, and the food is amazing. My husband & I decided to ring in the 2018 New Year at the Marina del Rey in the Bronx again this year. This was our 2nd year. Prior to this I had hosted NYE in my home for a whole lot of family for past 16 years!!! Last year we had a table with close friends & family and it was great. This year those friends & family members couldn't commit but my husband & I decided since we had such a wonderful time last year, we still wanted to go again this year!!! I got married here. The food is top notch. I'd say the best cuisine of any wedding venue I've ever been to, in terms of choices and quality. The venue, itself, is also breathtakingly gorgeous. The bridal attendant, Tonya, was incredible and even attentive to me, the groom. I wish I remembered the two maitradee names. The main one for me, a smaller gentleman, was attentive and lively. I, however, was extremely unhappy with the taller gentelman co-maitradee. He didn't bother to introduce himself to myself, my parents, or bride. When my father approached him about this, rather than issue an apology, he copped an attitude with us. Throughout the night, I would see him periodically walking around with an angry expression. He stood out to me, as he was the only member of the staff whom wasn't smiling. Again, I wish I had this gentleman's name, but I'm sure his co-workers and other staff could assertain who this man is. The main reason I am writing this is because this man preceded to approach me and a few of my guests when we were playing an impromptu game of dice in front of the venue. Now, I'm aware that playing dice may not be the most appropriate game for a wedding, but when I'm dropping 30,000$ at a venue, I'm expecting that as long as I'm not vandalizing the place, I have the creative control to do what I please with my guests. Not only was I approached, but it's how I was approached. Had this gentelman nicely told me that he would appreciate me not doing that in front of the venue, I would not be writing this. However, this man did not do that. Rather, he told me that if we didn't stop playing dice, he could and would call the police on us . You could imagine the anger I felt, when the co maitradee who hadn't done a single thing to make me feel comfortable in the venue I dropped 30,000$ in, chooses to talk to me for the first time 3 hours into the event, and it's to threaten me. My other complaint was the refusal of the bartenders to pour me and my guests shots. Not a huge deal, but again, when you're paying 30000$, you expect to be accommodated with these little things. In fairness, my wife was so happy with this venue that she didn't even want me to write this review. However, I felt it needed to be done. Marina Del Rey is incredible, great views of the Hudson river overlooking Whitestone and Throgs neck bridge, great for pictures, the reception room we chose was the smaller one but still rich and opulent in elegance it was absolutely stunning - blessed to have an amazing team that helped to answer my questions during the planning process and helped guide me during the day of. Denasia Gilley, Joe Orzo and Tanya. I love you guys, you were all amazing and total pros. Had an emergency because I forgot my vow booklet at the hotel and I had to think fast on an alternative option (good thing I had emailed myself the vows). They were very patient even though I was getting pulled all different directions I never felt overwhelmed because they were there to help assist. To be perfectly honest, I was surprised when one of my good friends chose a Bronx location for her wedding instead of some place near our hometown in Connecticut. And, even as I drove to her recent wedding, my date and I were skeptical. Until we crossed from "da Bronx" into "Marina del Rey." Seriously, a different world. Valet parking only (actually, while most people probably prefer that, I much prefer to park myself, thank you very much) affords guests the opportunity to waltz right into the main entrance room. A giant fountain adorned with sculpted birds sets the tone right away. Marina del Rey strives to be something elegant and classy. And while it tries very hard, it definitely is not 5 stars in my books. The kind of forced "class" comes across a little...Vegas-y? I don't know, but rooms like "The Venetian" and "The Bellagio" kind of make me roll my eyes. Here is why this place is worth 3.5-4 stars: 1) Variety and quality of food. The cocktail hour at my friend's wedding was actually 1.5 hours - with a full spread of appetizers that I should have gone a little easier on. From calamari (both grilled and fried available) to mussels to sushi to pizza to ribs to a mashed potato bar to pastas to stuffed mushrooms to a cheese bar, this place had it all. And this was BEFORE the meal in the main room. For the actual meal, guests had a choice of several entrees (can't remember them all - I know there was Chilean Sea Bass, salmon, eggplant parmegean, veal...I think two more). Presentation was great, as well as taste, although my sea bass was waaaay too buttery. No complaints from me. And when a friend at my table got a well-done steak instead of rare, the host immediately offered him a choice of cuts that looked like they were still moo-ing - just what he wanted. 2) The view. Ceremonies outside have a view of the bridges. Very nice. Great if you want a New York feel. 3) Professionalism of staff. I didn't exactly deal with this but my friend (who was the bride) and another (who was a bridesmaid) spoke quite highly of how helpful and attentive the staff was. I did not like, however, that it DID seem to be a wedding factory (contrary to what one previous reviewer said). As my friend's cocktail hour was ending, we witnessed another wedding beginning at the gazebo by the water. It was kind of odd to be seeing different groups of bridesmaids in the same venue (albeit different ends/different main rooms). Not my cup of tea at all, but I guess it doesn't bother a lot of people. I have no idea about the pricing, but my friend seemed quite pleased with it for the place of her wedding. My family grew up going to events here, from baptisms to weddings. There's something to be said for a family-owned establishment that grows and develops with your own family. Marina del Rey is one of those places. Our family has known the owners for years. The food is consistently delicious and the service consistently wonderful. Wow! Absolutely, hands down, THE best wedding I have ever been to. You can look at it one of two ways, you might think I am bias because it was my own wedding OR you might be extra impressed because this review is written from the point of view of a critical bride. Marina Del Rey is obviously an incredibly beautiful venue from the water fountain in the entrance, to the gorgeous gazebo, east river backdrop and city skyline view, but what really makes this venue so remarkable, is the food and most of all the staff. Lets start with the food... The cocktail hour was so lavish that guests were asking if it was actually the dinner. We happily told them no, they had a choice of 6 entrees made to order, each one, excellent options in their own right. Now the staff... Joe Orzo, our maitre'd was simply AMAZING, and THAT is an understatement. The entire night flowed seamlessly in his hands, allowing us to actually enjoy the moment and interact with our guests. Denise, was much more than a bridal attendant, taking care of all six of my bridesmaids, as well as the groom and his six groomsmen. I just had my wedding here April 23, 2016. And I must say other than the birth of my children, this was the happiest day of my life.. The Marina del Rey is the most beautiful, most helpful and they took care of everything. I could not have asked for anything else. they gave me everything I expected and more...... Much more!!! The ceremony was beautiful, the food was amazing, my guests were well taken care of, the reception was so much fun from beginning to end. They never pressured me and when I had a melt down at any given time during the planning they would calm me down. I am sooo happy I picked the Marina del Rey and you should too. This place is amazing!! I had my wedding here on 5/21/17. The staff are the best, they are all so attentive with all of your needs no matter what it is. The food is soooo good. My bridal attendant Denise was more than WONDERFUL!! She was amazing so helpful and was on point with everything. My guest loved Marina Del Rey. They had such a wonderful time.
