This is a lovely little convenience store filled with Scandinavian and German treats. Also plenty of wine, beer, mead, and some groceries. The staff is very nice. You can get plenty of very bracing salted black licorice here if you want to be brave. It's just off the main shopping street by the Viking mural. read more

What a cool little market! It's a little off the main drag, but with its own parking, which is convenient. Beyond the normal sorts of products you might expect in a standard corner market, this shop had tons of specialized products, mostly emphasizing "nordic" content. They have a great selection of mustards (mostly German). A fine selection of meads, mostly Danish, but also domestic. And probably the best selection of licorice I think I've ever seen in an American store, more than an aisle focused on licorice. There are the standard varieties, but also some serious salted varieties, including ones I haven't seen outside Finland. Also, lots of other German sweets and chocolates. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and shared my enthusiasm for the great stuff they carried. Well worth a visit. Who knows what you'll end up getting! read more

It's a great place to find the products I was used to in Germany. The prices have a markup, but it's imports, so that's to be expected. Unassuming little market, but it has a lot of items crammed in. Do check the expiry date on items, however. I ended up spending a fair amount of money on goods that had expired while in the store! I only noticed when came the time to use. read more

Marina Market is an eclectic gourmet food store on Front Street in Downtown Poulsbo. It is notable for having a nice selection of Scandinavian and European grocery items and imported beer. If you are looking for Scandinavian seafood items (canned and refrigerated) in Kitsap County, I would recommend this shop. They also have a nice array of items from other European countries, particularly Germany and The Netherlands like bread, cookies and licorice. While the selection is mostly European, I did notice some Asian items that I did not expect to find here like instant noodles, Indonesian curry packets and soy sauce. The store has a website in which shipping is available nationally. If you are visiting the store, I would recommend checking the website or giving the store a call to see if they have a specific item. read more

Here's my google review and subsequent condescending reply: Don't buy from this company. I just had the worst customer service experience with an "apparent" owner that he claims he was. He wouldn't replace a product of 8 containers of dutch mayonnaise that when shipped had a 4 month time until they expired. I used 4 and now have to throw 4 away. He/perhaps Jonathan immediately and I mean immediately went on the defensive telling me how wrong I was is merely requesting a replacement. Unacceptable customer service and NEVER EVER AGAIN. We typically don't respond to 1 Star reviews but feel in this case it might be educational for you and other customers with similar misconceptions about imported food. You said in your refund request that you love Dutch Mayonnaise and cited the Best By date as July of 2024 showing that you don't understand what Euro Dating is. Items imported from the Netherlands use Day/Month/Year coding so that Mayonnaise was actually dated for August 2024. And that wouldn't matter in this case because of your assertation that we shouldn't sell anything that has less than a year on it. And therein lies the issue. It's essentially impossible to have Dutch Mayonnaise with more than a year to its BB Date. That product may have a year on it when it is manufactured (although many items are short dated in other countries), but then the exporter has to order it and take delivery. Then they store it in a warehouse until and importer orders it. Then it travels across the planet to arrive through a port, where it is held for customs inspection, and then trucked to the importer's warehouse. Then we have to order it and it is shipped across the country and received by us. The typical travel time for imported containers is about 3 months. So doing a little math you can certainly understand why an item we received on February 22, 2024 might be dated in August. And certainly the idea that you asked us to credit you for the 2 lbs. of chicken salad you made and discarded is bizarre. Yesterday (08/30/24) we received a shipment from the UK which included about 75% items with Best By Dates before the end of this year. We literally have 4 months to sell those items before the go out-of-date. For instance, the Cadbury Flake was manufactured in April 2024 and has a Best By date of January 2025. These are chocolate bars that come with an 8 month date. The Ms. Balls Hot Chutney which we received on 08/30/24 has a Manufactured date of May of 2023 and a Best By Date of May 2025. We have less than a year to sell an item that is manufactured with a 2 Year window. We can't have a policy that customers can buy as much as they feel like and if the item goes out of date before they use it all, we then have to refund their money. We hope you find another business that is able to cater to your need for over 12 month Best By Dates. Good luck! read more

What this place lacks in exterior charm (unlike all the totally adorable storefronts in this downtown Poulsbo corridor) they make up for in substance. They have groceries and beer from all over Europe! Who knew there were dozens of kinds of black licorice? Fish in tins? Yep. My challenge though was not being able to read the foreign language to see what kind it was. From cookies and candies, to clogs and unique socks, they stock all sorts of fun European treats! Prices are a little higher than your average grocery store, but they are imports. Parking- they have a FEW spots out front. But unless you come really early in the morning, you may be out of luck. I recommend parking in the public lot at the end of Front Street and walking. read more

I have been to this oasis of libations and meat three times in my life and each time I'm blown away by the selection! The most recent trip was one prior to a dinner at a friend's place. We got a Trappiste Rochefort 10, a 2009 Red Blend from the DuBrul vineyard from Coté Bonnevile and a blackberry sparkling cider from London...this from a market that looks like the sort of spot you'd grab worms and Busch light on your way to the lake! The beer selection here is as vast as any place I've seen, including Johns in Iowa City - seems obscure, but look it up and see that glory for yourself! They probably have 400+ beers in literally every variety you can think of, including plenty of hard to find bottles that I've only seen a handful of time. The wine selection isn't as vast, but (case and point above), they've got some great options! The folks working here are knowledgeable and friendly, making the process of getting in and out a breeze, though there's enough to check out that it's easy to linger. The meats they've got here are impressive as well. Not to the level of the beer, but this was the first place I ever saw fancy bacon and bacon sausage! Life changing moment if there ever was one outside of a wedding and kids! This place is unassuming and deserves a visit from you ASAP! read more

Tried to stop in here while I was out with my two year old and five year old and was promptly informed I could only enter with one child. When I asked which kid I should leave outside they said I could carry both kids. They allow two adults, but not two small children one what was being held and one that I assured the employees would choose my hand during our visit. THE STORE HAD ZERO CUSTOMERS!! After trying to hold both kids I ended up leaving. The worst part was when I shared my experience on their FB page. The owner responded with sarcasm and implied that I am a bad parent for taking my children out of the house in the midst of a pandemic. Who the heck does this jack hole think (s) he is!?? Completely insensitive and absolutely rude!! How about something like, "like many businesses we're making tough decisions in an effort to protect our customers. We regret any inconvenience to you and your children and hope you'll take advantage of our online ordering so that we can continue to serve you during this tough time" I didn't even know they had online ordering until looking at their website later. Now, I'll never support these people! Rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. They should spend some time with their neighboring businesses, like Sluys Bakery, learning what competent customer service looks like. Their Covid regulations are discriminatory against children. I was rudely told I could not shop there with my young son as one person allowed in the store at a time! They seriously expect you to leave your 6 year old outside standing in the rain! Their store is plenty large enough for several customers at 25% capacity and when I expressed my dissatisfaction at their impractical and dangerous policy to children via email I received the nastiest reply vilifying me for caring about my child's mental well being. We have been coming here for years and we're glad to find the store it has all kinds of specialty products from Europe that are hard to find. It's a tiny cute store full of unique stuff. Sadly, over the years their customer service has gone down drastically. Asking questions is sneered at and the last time we came the cashier asked why we even like the European snacks we pick up and to just eat American snacks. ‍ I don't know why they stay in business if they dislike their customers so much. From the other reviews I have seen they must not care either way. This is a heads to anyone wanting to shop there. Expect the staff to not be helpful and rude snappy and thankless for your business. On this new visit they were extremely short and rude as usual even though I was the only customer in the store. Always an unpleasant experience after each visit. This will be my last time back. Used to go here, but since I made the decision to have a family they made the decision that we're not welcome in there. My children are 4, 7, & 9. Per their rules I would have to choose which child I would take in and leave the other two to fend for themselves outside. There are much smaller businesses in Poulsbo that are actually using all of their resources to engage customers in smart safe ways to navigate these restrictions. This business is not one of them. Crazy, unintelligent, discrimination against family rules. What makes it worse is the employees attitudes if you do walk in with more that one child. Round this up to five stars if you specifically need specialty beers or other special treats. From the outside this place looks like a convenience store. From the inside, actually, it continues to look like a convenience store. But don't be fooled. This place is absolutely a specialty store. For starters, look again at the bench outside. It's landscaped in place with a lot of greenery, but the greenery is lettuce. They're growing their own lettuce. I didn't look for a produce section here, but somebody is using those greens for something. Inside, the aisles split off in either direction from a centrally-located register. There are many coolers across the back, packed with interesting bottles of specialty beer from all over. There are a few shelves here and there packed with even more specialty beer. They really know what they're doing, too, pulling interesting releases from all over the U.S., and tons of good imports as well. Prices are good. You could absolutely stock a beer cellar very well even if this was the only place you shopped. I think there's also a bit of wine, but the beer selection runs to hundreds and hundreds of bottles, and is by far the most impressive anchor of the store. They're know, though, for their liquorice shrine. Dozens of kinds of black liquorice from all over the world, tons of different gummi bears and Swedish fish and other chewy candy with all kinds of unusual and specialty flavors. Then there's a whole section of jams and jellies and preserves and custards. And a bank of caviar and pate. It just goes on and on. There were people here just buying a few ingredients for a sensible dinner, but the range of crazy stuff they have here is absolutely outlandish. I guess the name implies something, after all--they must court the sailboat-owning crowd to some degree. I usually love shopping here and buying a few familiar comforts of home items from Marina Market. Today I was told I couldn't shop there because I had my 7 year old daughter with me. At first I thought it was because I may have forgotten to put my mask on, but it was on and so was my daughters mask. These are strange times no doubt, but most parents have their children home and have to bring them out in public from time to time. No idea why their store policy is what it is, but again it is their store policy but I think its pretty unfair. My son wanted to go into this place which I know is very very expensive but they have European things so we try to go in there and they go sorry no kids. so I walk out and then I walked back in and I asked them is the reason for no kids because the state has said that you can't have kids in your store or is it because you decided you don't want any kids in here and they go we decided So I told them that I will never be shopping there ever again and they seemed happy with that and I said so what am I supposed to do have my kids stay in the car as a single father and then they said leave go away. hopefully they'll go out of business soon. The store is small, so they are currently enforcing a "children in arms" only policy, which totally makes sense as there are just so many fun things kids would want to touch and play with. Holy crapballs Batman, this place was SOOOOO fun to visit. A wildly diverse and efficiently organized and stocked market in Poulsbo, you'd probably never think the place was so awesome just by looking at the outside. They have a huge selection of tinned fish and pickled/brined herring from all over Europe. Being a huge herring fan made it seem like Christmas came the week before Halloween. Stuff I hadn't seen in other markets. And the beers. Wow. All kinds if interesting beers. I even found Indra Kunindra, which is a very different but interesting porter. I haven't even been able to find that one in the big liquor stores. Cheeses. Candies. Knick knacks. You name it. My first time in Poulsbo over this last weekend. Thanks to this place and a few other amazing businesses, I will gladly take the boat ride back. read more

This would've been a great store and all of my intentions were to love this place ! But the guy that "owned" the place and was working was EXTREMELY rude and made me SO uncomfortable . From my first step into the store he didn't take his eyes off of me and my fiancé and sister . It was so bad at one point we even asked if there was a problem . He told me that we looked sketch and we had put things in our pockets . I let him look in all my pockets and then he even said " well just so you know there is cameras" this is my first time in Poulsbo and it ruined my day . I honestly will never go back to that store . It has been an annoying couple of days. I love bread sauce with my turkey (it's a British thing). We had a massive flood and when I packed my kitchen I had to pack my packets of mix with the rest of the stuff in the Pod. Now it's thanksgiving and I have no bread sauce, I tried: Amazon - 12 days delivery Lady Di - closed Bales - delivery Friday Central Market - don't carry World Market - don't carry MOC - don't carry Safeway - Don't carry....... etc, etc. Turkey without bread sauce isnt' turkey. I finally had a brain wave an independent market called Marina Market in Poulsbo. I asked the guy, we had a few misheard words, clarified, heard confusion in his voice, got disappointed, he then said "do you mean Colemans Bread Sauce". Kind of shocking after all of the other stores on the main drag allowed a wonderful afternoon of masked and socially distant family browsing to be stopped at the door and told you couldn't bring your child in. I want to thank Marina Market for giving me the opportunity to teach my kids a couple of lessons on how not to run a business. We were excited to stop by this store on our way back from a camping trip. We all had masks on and walk in and are immediately told due to COVID they are only allowing one person per party in at time. There are no other customers in the store and we were wearing masks which is following the current guidelines. Then the employee also informs us that due to COVID they are also not allowing kids in the store. Now this is store that sells a variety of items and not a place where you would expect kids to not be allowed. They tout a huge variety of licorice which we were excited to check out and purchase. So we left and said nothing to the clerk and decided that this is not a place that I am willing to give my money to. As we are in our car deciding what to do next we watch a couple walk in and they are not turned away. Which both my kids notice. They then ask why can those people go in but we can't? We tell them that this is not a store that we want to spend our money at anyway and leave. My wife then leaves a review on Facebook about our experience and the replies back from management confirm every feeling we have about this place. They offered nothing but excuses for their behavior. So first I was able to show my kids that they matter. Any business that doesn't want my kids to come in is no business I will ever patron or recommend to anyone at anytime. If you are going to implement a policy of one person per party that should be observed for EVERY party no matter the age or size of the party. By allowing an adult couple in and telling my kids they are not allowed to come in you are telling my kids they don't matter. If that is your company ethics then you are a poor company. As someone who is integral in running a small business I go above and beyond to make sure every single person that comes through my door, no matter if they are paying or just tagging along, that they are a value to me. This is showing kindness and gratitude to EVERY single person. Because that child today is the adult of tomorrow. If it is a matter of space then you only allow a certain number of people(no matter how old) inside the store just like every other business I have go to. However to hide behind COVID is absolutely ridiculous. So once again I want to thank you for providing a simple real work way for me to show my kids first that they matter and second a person is a person no matter what age they are and that every person deserves to be treated with respect and kindness. read more

Wow. What a negative experience. When you go to this store there is a sign at the front door that states: "One person per group/family at a" time in the market. Parents, you are welcome to carry one child at a time in the market. Children who can not be carried and all pets are not allowed entry at this time." I was there with my 2 grandchildren, daughter and daughter-in-law. Went inside to find it completely empty of people. I then told my daughter-in-law to come in and chose some candy for my grandchildren, which was in violation of their "one person per group" rule. Oh well. Now my daughter-in-law is 5'1. Her children are darn near as tall as she. She really struggled to carry them in one at a time. I informed the owner that I was going to write a yelp review stating that they discriminated against children. I was very respectful, hoping he would explain his reasoning. Instead he said "go right ahead". I turned and while going through the door he called after me "idiot". This after I was nothing but respectful to him. Wow, talk about a rude and completely angry man at he world in general. Definitely not consumer friendly. He is in the wrong business. No wonder his store was empty. He also took objection to the fact I put my purchases on the check out counter because I was buying too many groceries to hold. Now remember we were the only ones in the store. Don't judge a book by its cover...I did for several years...always passing this non descript "market" by in favor of other cooler looking shops. However, one very hot day I was desperate for a bottled water and figured I surely could get it there--after all--wasn't it just like any other 7-11 or corner store? Wrong. Inside holds an incredible selection of beers from around the world, delicacies, and every imaginable type of licorice you can think of.
