I stayed with Marina OB/GYN until I was 28 weeks pregnant, and I was extremely disappointed with my experience. During all those weeks as a patient, I was never able to see an actual doctor. Every appointment was with a different nurse practitioner, and I never felt that they genuinely cared about my health or my baby. The one positive thing about this office is that appointments are usually available quickly, sometimes even on the same day. Unfortunately, each visit lasted only about 5-10 minutes. They would perform a brief ultrasound and take measurements, but they rarely spoke to me or explained what any of the numbers meant. Afterward, I was simply told I could leave without receiving useful information or guidance. They did not properly check in with me, explain how my pregnancy was progressing, or tell me what symptoms and warning signs I should be aware of. Pregnancy is a vulnerable time when patients need communication, reassurance, and attentive medical care. I never felt safe, supported, or confident that my pregnancy was in good hands here, which is why I decided to transfer to another provider. read more

Updating this review because it's for the Redondo beach blvd location. Want to share the amazing time that I had visiting this OBGYN office. This was the best experience I've ever had going to a doctors office. From the time that I walked in the receptionist Alicia greeting me with a positive attitude and thanked me for coming on time, to having me checked in and saw the NP Irene in a timely manner. I was in and out in record time. I want to say about 45 minutes or less. I've never experienced such efficient fast service before I highly recommend this location. Very unprofessional in the way they handled things today. I am utterly disappointed in the way I was treated by Oscar the nurse and the Doctor Jamie Lipeles. After leaving me waiting over 2 hours to be called (I had my 6 yr old Autistic daughter with me) so long waits = extra stress , aside from being 34 weeks pregnant, when I expressed my concerns about being left in the room for so long he walked away and told me he'd be Referring me out to another doctor. I am very upset about having wasted my afternoon just to be treated this way. I feel that I was discriminated against because of my race as well as the type of insurance I have . I had called the redondo clinic + my insurance prior to an appt with them to confirm that my visit would be covered by insurance and they reassured me it would be in network. After the appointment I received two large bills for the service and was advised to contact their billing department to discuss. After an initial email and two follow ups (a month later) I have yet to get a response. It is stressful enough to get care and to be proactive prior to getting care - this experience and prolonged delay of figuring out the billing has just added to that. read more

I've had an extremely disappointing experience with this office. My procedure was supposed to be scheduled a week out, but instead it was pushed an entire month later. As the new date approached, I called to confirm and was told by the call center that there were no records of my authorization or even an appointment on file. I had prepared to travel 6.5 hours to see Dr. Lipeles before my insurance ended, but it's been impossible to reach anyone at the actual office because all calls are routed through a detached call line. I was even accidentally transferred to another patient who said they were having the same issues. Jessica Laport had sent in a prescription for topical lidocaine ahead of my visit since the procedure was originally planned within a week, yet now there's no record of my appointment at all. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. read more

Due to recent medical issues I have become somewhat of a regular at this practice. Alicia at the front desk is always welcoming, kind, and extremely helpful. Dr. Neha Sharma has been amazing every time. She truly takes the time to listen and does her best to help her patients. I understand she will no longer work out of this office, which is definitely a loss. Both Dr. Sharma and Alicia get 5 stars from me. However, in Dr. Sharma's absence I have been placed with other providers in this office. All their locations are awful! The receptionist in the office doesn't have a phone so if you're new like me and you're running late you can't get a hold of someone, you've just wasted your time driving to the office because they don't have a grace period and won't see you. I've been 5-10 minutes late for an anatomy scan because I have a 1 year old and it's tough getting to places on time and MOST places give you a 5-10 minute grace period this place does not. On top of that good luck finding parking at any of their offices. They're all in horrible locations. They bad at communicating the doctors can't even send in a proper prescription for aspirin. Run far away from this place they limit prenatal care and should reevaluate how they run their practice. Worst experience I've had while being pregnant. read more

After a disastrous appointment with the PA at their Carson Street location, I foolishly agreed to to see Dr Lipeles at 12321 Hawthorne Blvd, on 12/7/23. I sat in their stifling hot, and filthy waiting room (at 12321 Hawthorne Street- This location) for nearly 2 hours. They called me back, took my weight, and then insisted on a urine sample. I asked why. They said it's standard before procedures. I said what procedure. They mistakenly thought I was getting a highly invasive procedure, when I was just scheduled for a consultation to meet Dr Lipeless and discuss my situation. I agreed to the urine sample, and they told me NOT to put the cap on. They had 9 containers of urine all sitting capless on the counter. Then they sent me back to their waiting room. I waited for a long time and started getting calls from a blocked number. Stephanie asked me to pick them up. I did and "Cynthia" who informed me that she was the manager of ALL Marina Obgyn's and that I should just go home- I was not going to be seen today. I told her I was already here (in the waiting room at 12321 Hawthorne Blvd). She said that I was banned from their practice. I asked why. She said that "a doctor has made a complaint about you". I informed her that I have Never met with any of their doctors, yet. She insisted I had. I said "who" and she said "Jessica Utech". I informed her Jessica was not a doctor- but a PA, who has scheduled this appointment for me here at 12321 Hawthorne blvd. She said "yes she is a physician". I said "Physician's assistant". Cynthia said "same thing". I told her a Physician's Assistant is not the same as a doctor, and she insisted they are! SMH. I asked her why I received SEVERAL texts and emails confirming this 12/7/23 appointment at 12321 Hawthorne Blvd, and why I was even prompted to "check in" online the day before, if I was "banned" from their practice. She didn't answer. Of course, now their office is claiming that I had a visit with them, so that they can bill my insurance. Attached are photos proving that this doctor is now claiming I had an appointment on 12/7 at this 12321 hawthorne Blvd location, even though I was refused service, and I asked them to discard the urine sample they insisted on collecting. They said they would discard it. They have no respect for a patient's time, and they set my health care back 2 months. read more

I had to come back to say thank you to Dr. Neha Sharma. She is the first doctor to sit with me and explain everything patiently. I had to wait a couple of weeks to see her to get my results. I did not want to get result from the other doctor or the assistants because I felt they were really detached from my existence. I am grateful to God that Dr. Sharma was available to help me get where I need to be. Still on the journey, but for once I'm not alone. I have never been so disappointed in medical services. I am currently 7 months pregnant and I have been sick my entire pregnancy. While I was never put on some type of medics leave I truly don't understand. Whenever I'm trying to get in touch with someone in the office, I'm connected to an answering service, they never respond in a timely fashion, my service is rushed, my concerns are not met. The best person within this company is Stephanie the receptionist at the Hawthorne office and the lady that asks questions regarding your mental health at the end of your appointment. But other than that the service is horrible and if I could recommend that you seek medical service for your baby elsewhere I would definitely Recommend that. After having a pervious OBGYN who no longer is in practice. I found Marina OBGYN in Hawthorne. Alicia the front desk representative is literally the best she remembers everyone faces and is very polite and welcoming. Destiny the other front desk representative is also great and friendly and quick with check in they both always seem to make the check in seem personal which is great. The waits are never more then 15mins. Now to Dr. Sherma she is amazing absolutely detailed with all the info she gives to you on top of all your referrals and paperwork. The way she explains things to you of course in a professional way but also in a way where your not lost in the info with certain terminology. Dr.Sherma takes care of you and if she can't she has a host of staff that picks up where she leaves one of my favs was with Dr. Jordan. Side note the doctors office is one of the cleanest I've ever been to from the bathroom to all the rooms. I also liked how I was asked how I liked the temperature of my room from time to time when the weather outside was changing a lot. read more

I decided to book my first prenatal appointment at the Hawthorne location due to being few minutes away from my house. The office looks poorly maintained. The ceiling had water leak stains and parts of the ceiling were missing. If you decide to get your prenatal care here, you won't get to see an OBGYN during your first trimester. Your appointments will be with their P.A's until you are further in to your pregnancy. The P.A that I saw was Jessica Utech. Unfortunately, I didn't have a pleasant experience from her and her MA (I can't remember her name). The MA and the PA had robotic bedside manners. My experience felt like I was in a simulation lab and both were just checking off their task list. The PA never asked how I was doing, how I was feeling. Never bothered to assess my mental well being. Her bedside manners made feel uncomfortable and tense. She answered all of my questions with short responses. She made me feel that she was in a rush and she never provided me with educational material to take home. When the PA did my ultrasound she didn't really talked and left the exam room without asking if I wanted a copy of my ultrasound and never offered me a tissue to wipe the lubricant off my vagina! The exam room didn't have tissue either! So, I had to wipe my lady part with the rough exam paper cover. When I saw the P.A outside of the exam room, I asked for a copy of my ultrasound, she replied that the copy she had was for her records and asked, "You want one?" I replied, "Yes" (duh). She made me go through the whole process of undressing and redoing the intravaginal ultrasound exam again! She did the ultrasound so fast my ultrasound pictures came out blurry. Again, I had to wipe myself with the rough paper! I selected this office because the head OBGYN had good reviews. I will never know how good he is because I decided not to return back, since I found an OBGYN office where the M.D sees all of her patients from the start of pregnancy. I wouldn't recommend this office due to their care process approach in prenatal care, bedside culture, and office maintenance that made me feel unsafe in case of a disastrous event...
