I waited a week and have made subsequent calls to their office and email through the website, yet I still cannot get an appointment booked. I started coming to this office last year and was impressed with the NP Judy, very sweet and a very good NP. I started HRT and everything was great, my annual was scheduled for October 2025. This week my estrogen patch, progesterone and testosterone refills were denied, come to find out it's because I had not paid my administrative fee of $250 dollars. She has great bedside manner and her practice is well kept. While she's amazing, this review is about recent changes to her practice. After years of living out of town, I came back looking forward to resuming care with her practice but was turned off by a new office policy that requires up front out of pocket fees even for insurance holders. In 2017 Dr. Rodriguez performed a procedure on me and placed Essure devices in my Fallopian tubes to block them off before IVF. Soon after having the procedure, healthcare providers in the US were told to discontinue performing the procedures using the devices due to severe side effects reported by women. I successfully had IVF and 2 babies but years later I feel like I'm having side effects from the essure. I called the office to schedule an appointment with Dr. Rodriguez since she performed the surgery to see about removing them but I was met with a new bogus policy. The office charges $250 per year to you out of pocket - and they offer a payment plan - in order for you to have access to their portal, communicate with your doctor and for the staff to handle your health insurance processing. Excuse me but insurance covers your healthcare and communication with your doctor shouldn't be at an additional fee outside of insurance. And why are we charged an additional fee for office staff to process medical payments? It all seems bogus! All I wanted was these discontinued/off market devices that were inserted by dr. Rodriguez to be removed and I was hoping to resume going to the practice as a loyal patient but this new policy is a major turn off. The young woman on the phone immediately asked for my insurance (which is very good), disappeared for a moment, came back and said 'there will be a $250 up front administrative fee that insurance doesn't cover'. I've been a patient here for a year and I have to say, the level of care and attention I have received outweighs the $250 admin fee. I understand it's not something everyone can be down with, but after having a very base level of care with other gynos, it's something I will pay to continue being a patient here. I had to get an MRI done to take a look at my fibroids and everything else going on down there and at first, my insurance approved it, but I was out of state during the approval window my insurance company gave. So that approval expired. When I finally got back in town, we tried to get a new approval. Big surprise, my insurance company denied it. They denied it 2 more times, but Dr. Rodriguez's office was PERSISTENT and they kept on it and got it DONE!!!!! I am so thankful to them for their energy and keeping their "eyes on the prize"! I've NEVER had another doctor's office be this way. Sylvia Chen is the best...she does my annuals and goes through everything with me and explains everything and is more than happy to stay and answer questions...there is never a feeling of being rushed. The sonographer is also awesome...she put me at ease during my pelvic ultrasounds. I had a surgical consult with Dr. Rodriguez because my uterus is just riddled with fibroids and she was the absolute best. So kind and caring and presented me with the options available and helped me to understand each one so that I could decide what is best for me and my comfort level. She also cleared up A LOT of questions for me regarding specific procedures and I walked away with clarity AND peace of mind. I was so looking forward to coming in and getting treatment with this office but had a disappointing experience this morning. The initial phone call had me so excited to go. I specified the kind of medication i wanted to start with the woman i spoke with, gave her my insurance information, and expressed my goals. I'm a single mom and found childcare just to go to this appointment and got up extra early and arrived early like i was told. Your statement, "If we were to start ordering medications or address other health issues like hormones or elevated lipids, it would no longer be considered a "well woman exam" because we would have to attach insurance codes to justify why we are ordering certain medications for you. Your insurance would then make you responsible for your copay. We did not want you to have to be charged for a visit that is supposed to be included as part of your yearly contract with your insurance." The irony in your statement made me LOL! I WAS charged for the annual wellness visit, so after reading your response, I will expect a refund. The irony isn't the copay, as much as the fact that your office was more than willing to schedule an appointment the next day, IF I agreed to pay the $200 out of pocket. Therefore, please don't fein concern over my co-pay. My issue wasn't the $200, as much as the time I would need to carve out of my day. My home and office are in Manhattan Beach, traffic to your office and the parking at your office is HORRENDOUS. I was scheduled for a procedure at the end of last year, but apparently there was no availability until January 2025. I paid for and took the medication that was required for the test and when I arrived to the appointment today, I was denied care unless I paid a $250 membership fee. Additionally, after explaining this procedure with another physician, I was told that it was not even necessary which reveals this physician requests unnecessary testing, which drives up costs billed to insurance companies. I have been going through perimenopause for a while now I have had a great deal of trouble trying to find a specialist. Dr. Rodriguez was mentioned on a discussion board of people with expertise so I thought I'd give her a try. In making an appointment, I had to wait several months, which seems to be standard, but they want to charge me $200, without even seeing her to use whatever system they are using. If your office chooses to use a certain software, that's your decision and part of your overhead and not some thing I need to pay a one time fee for. The pay structure and the way they set up their appointments seemed a bit ridiculous to me and felt like they were trying to be boutiquey and concierge like yet didn't have that qualification. And, I was told I wasn't even going to have an examination on the first visit. The impression I got was, they were charging a pink tax for providing the exact service she's supposed to be providing. I've been coming here for 8 years and I switched from Dr. Wasserman to Judy and they both have been amazing at helping with various issues. I've visited other doctors in the Torrance Memorial specialty building kind of located in that area and all those places strictly follow "traditional medicine" where this place expands to different perspectives and advances in women's health. My only complaint, which will not be reflective of this review is the front desk staff. They are constantly changing and not the friendliest people to talk too. I have no problem with the $250.00 "administrative fee" that the patient pays directly to the office, in addition to the co-pay and what they bill insurance, or that they sell jewelry, sex toys, and facials to make more money. However, today when I had an annular exam and explained I wanted a refill on a medication Dr. Rodriguez had previously prescribed. I was told I would need to make another appointment. I was under the impression that Dr. Djapari was licensed physician, she had my labs, so why do I need another appointment to get a prescription??? If she is that unsure of herself, she may not be ready to see patients. I was so confused I asked the lady at the front if she was a licensed doctor. I was told she was, but I still needed to schedule another appointment for a "consult" to get a prescription. Basically more hours out of another day, another $75 co-pay and another bill to insurance. WHY WAS I SENT TO A DOCTOR THAT COULD'T OR WOULDN'T LOOK AT LABS AND WRITE A PRESCRIPTION??? My general practitioner can do that at a $20 copay. Lol The highlight of this debacle was when the nurse came out and asked me if I had my cholesterol checked. I told her that I wasn't a doctor and relied upon the medical professionals to know what labs to order. She had an attitude from hell. I told her to give me an order for whatever was necessary to get the prescription I needed. She starts citing all of the consult time I would need, bc I requested a particular lab test. I told her to forget I asked the question and give me an order for labs. I have NEVER experienced anything like this at a medical office. Even if you don't care, please feign a bit of concern and apologize for the confusion. If money is the primary motive, it would be better to become a concierge doctor rather than give people the run around. The new concept of a med-spa, anti-aging clinic, sex toy shop, jewelry store, gynecologists office is losing value in what matters most, patient care. I used to go to Dr. McClain in Santa Monica for anti - aging medicine. I paid cash and he was worth every penny. He is AMAZING with anything hormone related but I wanted a gynecologist so I wouldn't have to have multiple appointments and drive to Santa Monica. The irony, since now it seems you have to schedule a "consult" if you have questions during an exam. Hey people! Take a second and third opinion before getting any procedure done by this lady, she can easily F... with your life. This review is about FIBROIDS consultation with DR Rodriguez! I also want to let her know that the fibroids 7.8 cm + the 6 and 5 cm doesn't exist in my uterus. I had seen 2 others doctors after you, + I got other ultrasound and was not found any fibroids bigger than 5.cm I really don't need to remove my uterus, because there's other options of treatments. She performed a ultrasound and she said my uterus was taken by Multiple fibroids and they were too big and the uterus had to be removed. Today after seeing a third doctor I got a conclusion that this lady has no mercy for her patients. It's I like you breaking a finger and the doctor decides to cut your legs out because it is easier. As a woman you should think as a woman and have more compassion to other human like you. A normal health woman will never want to have her uterus removed if is not necessary. I contacted this doctor's office. I described my pre-existing condition. I asked prior to coming in, if they could help me. I was told that they could. I paid their administrative fees and waited a month to be seen. Their location is over an hour from my home, but I am made the trek. I sat with a physician for about 7 mins just to be told that they couldn't help me. This is something that they could have done over the phone, since I communicated this in advance at least one month before coming there in person. They refunded my admin fee but still billed my insurance for this non-appointment. I feel that I was lured into their offices and tricked into being seen so that they could bill my insurance. The population of doctors in the torrance physician network do not require such additional out of pocket charges, yet this annual charges appears to support her online presence. I just called this office to make an appointment in hopes to find some reliefs to my symptoms that can only be described as hormonal menopause symptoms. I was able to get in with the NP Megan almost immediately. The office staff are welcoming, upbeat and kind. Megan really listened to my concerns and forged a path forward for me. Having an appointment with her feels like talking to a friend. The $250 fee is more than worth the value of being listened to and cared for by your doctor. This office is radically different in its approach to patient care than the majority of existing doctoral care. My office visit was prompt, caring, and inspired hope. So many women, myself included, have had to make many appointments to get one where our concerns are not dismissed, sometimes outright and insulting, other times simply not addressed or viewed as part of the norm even if it has life impairing ramifications for us. I saw Dr. Rodriguez personally; she listened, heard me, and sent me to the lab with a battery of tests so I can have biological proof of where my body stands and the hope of addressing whatever is or isn't there. It took a couple of mo this to see her personally, but was worth the wait. This is overdue because I have been a long time patient of Dr. Rodriguez and was torn on whether to leave this review. When I was referred to her almost 10 years ago I thought Dr. Rodriguez, Megan Miyahira, and the entire staff were a godsend since it is so hard to find doctors you feel comfortable with. The office was and still is lovely but it no longer feels "homey". I remember the days when you could walk in and know everyone by name and it was like walking into a family reunion. Now the faces change each visit, and there are about a half dozen other associates working out of her office - which makes it feel clinical and corporate. The office has recently implemented a $250 administrative fee which I have an issue with because based on your insurance plan you could be in the office once a year for your FREE yearly checkup which now costs you $250. They say the fee is for administrative services such as extended hours on weeknights, refill requests, insurance forms, basically anything that is NOT a medical issue. Well aren't all these scenarios associated with medical issues? Why is a patient that has not required any of this being charged $250 before they even walk in the door? If her office is trying to recoup some of these dollars it should be billed on an as needed basis. To make matters worse I recently needed a referral which I thought was covered by the $250, and was still charged for an office visit. Now come on, how is that good business or good customer service? So I havent walked into the office in almost 2 years (due to COVID) and it has cost me close to $300.00. It saddens me to see how this office has evolved, and Dr. Rodriguez should take inventory of her front office staff because all the reviews stating how rude they are, and bumping appointments for being a few minutes late, etc. is true. This never happened with the old staff. Dr. Rodriguez and Megan Miyahira are excellent physicians but the practice as a whole is a reflection on Dr. Rodriguez. This Dr was over seeing my 3rd pregnancy/delivery. She misdiagnosed me & almost set a date for me to have a c-section before catching her self reading the wrong chart. She wasn't personable, just felt like I was another $$. Long waits to be seen. At the time I was having my baby this Dr was switching into another type of medical field & it showed. I am so sad to have to write this negative review. I was a patient of Dr. Rodriguez for approximately 4 years. Things have drastically changed over the 4 years. The entire office staff has changed. I went in for my 4 year Well Women check-up and they had me sign my annual forms. Well, they have added a new form "Administrative Fee Form" they are asking for $250.00 yearly up front from each patient to cover "Administrative costs". If you do not pay this up front you can potentially aquire fees above $250.00. Yes, I have insurance with great coverage. I have attached the form so you can see exactly what this fee is for. Unfortunately, I as well my friends will be leaving her practice. We absolutely love her N/P Megan. This is now a business and being a care provider went out the door.
