Been coming here for some time. Yes it is inside of Costco, do you get Costco benefits, not too sure but the staff make up for it. Always pleasant, never had a bad experience and when you walk in, the staff welcome you and provide timely responses and making sure your appointment VSP no longer considers this a - I guess a preferred location, thus higher costs. Nothing higher in costs here, and frankly better care and better service than the assumed preferred locations. Allow them to care for you and know that you will be taken care of. This review is a special shout out to Dr Paul Hill! I've been wearing contact lenses for about 30 years, I'm not new to annual eye exam. I don't have a regular optometrist as every exam is about the same, very standard process. I go wherever is convenient for me. When you are life long contact lens wearer, you just want something that works the same as before, even if it's flawed. Dr Hill really stood out, he was friendly, earnest and professional and ready to hear my concerns. He was not afraid to make new suggestions and encourage me to try. Unfortunately, I had an urgent eye issue a couple days after seeing him. Called for a follow up appointment to be seen by him and he immediately jumped on it and diagnosed and wrote me a prescription that resolved my issue. I'd also like to compliment all the front office staff, incredibly helpful and friendly. I know Costco Optometrists are never short of business, but my experience far exceeded my expectations and I'll be a lifelong patient here (along with my husband, who was voluntold to be a patient of Dr Hill) Thank you Dr Paul Hill and wonderful front office staff. read more

Do not come here if you value your time being respected. Unfortunately, an appointment does not mean anything. When originally making the appointment, I asked if they could give me an estimate of how long the appointment would take, as I would have to use my lunch break to make the appointment. I was told around 15 minutes. I show up to my 10:45 appointment at 10:40, check in and everything. I'm told to have a seat and I will be seen shortly. At 11 am I had still not be seen, so I informed them that I would need to cancel the appointment, as I couldn't wait any longer. This was my first appointment here, and to not have my time respected at all was very unfortunate. Looks like I'm still in search of a reliable optometrist. read more

I went for a eye exam at San Dimas Costco. Dr Hofacre, is in my Blue Shield PPO Network, payable at 100%. I have no Co-Pay or Deductible on eye exams, each year. The front office told me I owe $19 for a co-pay. I asked her to show me the print out, where it says I owe a $19 co-pay. The front girls showed me $19, which she HAND WROTE, on a paper. I am a Physician, I know, a in-network provider, accepts a contracted payment and can NOT "balance bill" the patient. Dr Hofacre, knows she can NOT bill a patient $19, after accepting Blue Shield's contracted re-imbursement. I explained to the front office, that balance billing was against Blue Shield, State and Federal law. They said Blue Shield was only payer Dr Hofacre $56 and I would need to pay $19, to make it $75. Dr Hofacre is playing with fire, by balance billing Costco patients, who are not familiar with their insurance plans. This is illegal, and I was shocked Costco does not put a stop to it. I wonder how many patients, the "good" doctor over billed. read more

I made a same day appointment for an eye exam. Being a new patient I was sent a link to fill out my health and vision history before my appointment. I was taken in on time and completed the usual tests before seeing Dr, Hofacre. My prescription really hadn't changed much since my last exam 2 years prior. Dr. Hofacre discovered that I have cataracts and gave me a letter for my primary care physician stating I am a candidate for cataract surgery. You need to take an interest into what your biller Marilyn is attempting to bill your patients...she has questionable billing practices and by the way we were treated by her, she clearly doesn't value you as a client. Wow, what a difference from other optometrists (*cough* Kaiser *cough*). The doctor was so thorough and truly listened to me. She asked important questions and it was evident that she truly cared about my eyes and the symptoms I was experiencing. Her exam was much more complete than other exams I had experienced at other places and she even found that my eyeglass prescription was wrong...no wonder I was having so much trouble seeing! She also didn't try to rope me into paying for additional procedures and I really appreciated that! The font office ladies were very nice and helpful as well. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! read more

I love Costco, so naturally using their optometry center was a no brainer. They saw me quickly and even squeezed in my sister and mom for walk in appointments. I had scheduled an appointment for an eye exam and showed up a bit early. The exam was quick but very thorough. My results were explained and I was good to go. They have a good selection of frames right outside for me and we got my sister some contacts to try out. As for my mom she had to fill a prescription which was perfect having the pharmacy here in Costco. Looooove It! We're definitely switching the whole family over to read more

The Doctor was available on a Sunday which already is a great start. She was friendly, informative and took VSP insurance. I was in and out under 1 hour. Additional and optional exams were $39 and provided great photos for me to review with the doctor. I will keep coming back to her. I went to this vision center in Costco for first time. And Dr. Jennifer Huang is the worst Doctor I have ever seen by in all my life. She is rude and rushes through the process. She never asks concerns about your eyes. I felt not confident about the eye prescription she gave me. ALSO When I want to try new daily contacts, she only given for 2 days. I don't know how any one can decide contacts are good or bad for the eyes in 2 days. When I asked for trial lenses for 1 week, she said she don't have any more. She just opened the box of 5 Infront of me:(. I was getting the contact lenses for past 10 years... Every Dr. Used to give me lenses to try for 1week atleast. I was going to optometrist since I was kid. This is the first worst experience. I don't recommend the place at all. read more

The optometrist Dr. Marinda Hofacre was also very friendly and knowledgeable, she took her time. I will definitely be coming back, and recommending to family/friends. I love how transparent they are with the pricing, I was paying out of pocket, and I paid what I was told, no surprises. I called on Sunday morning and scheduled a 1:30pm appointment, but showed up two hours early because my eye was bothering me. Dr. Vu was able to see me within 10 minutes of completing the paperwork. I appeared for my annual exam. I have used her before. My vision had changed dramatically since the year before in one eye. I kept saying my vision was not clear. Victoria Tran continued the refraction - with my vision going from 20/20 to 20/30 with a major change in refraction. Despite this - she made the exact same contact lens Rx in that eye despite being told that the old one was insufficient. After insisting on a change to a half diopter stronger lens my vision was a little bit better than it was - but what I described was that 'it seemed like there was gauze over my vision.' To ANY optometrist that should have been a clear warning sign - yet. Nope. 10 days after the exam I went to an ophthalmologist and was dx'd with a cataract in that eye - and 2 weeks later it was removed. I presented with all the symptoms of a cataract - in fact - I suspected I had one and yet Victoria Tran missed it completely despite me giving her all of the symptoms. They ordered replacement diagnostic lenses for my left eye, which is fine right now - and despite having them for 2 weeks they never called me - they insisted that they 'always' call customers - I checked what number they had - it was my cell. I pulled it our and showed them the call history - de nada. The receptionist told me "I must have deleted the call on purpose." Ok then - yep - I'm gonna delete that one call but leave 100 other ones intact. . . . I'm not a psycho. These folks are too busy to pay attention to the details. Yes, you will pay more someplace else but your vision is worth it - plus - they nickle and dime you to hell and back - a fee for everything if you have insurance so they can collect the insurance plus another $150 from you - if you have a simple contact lens refraction - their fees are competitive - if not - then go somewhere else. . . . read more

I found Dr. Hofacre, OD, and her staff to be extremely efficient and professional. In my case I was able to walk in and be seen almost immediately during a impromptu Friday afternoon visit to Cosco San Dimas, This happy scheduling opening was fortuitous but I would still recommend attempting to schedule an appointment as to assure your best chance to reduce or eliminate any waiting. Her demeanor was friendly and her exam was quick and thorough, but not rushed, during which time she was helpful and informative in discussing my eye prescription as well as my possible future choices regarding surgical vision correction. Unlike many other OD's Dr. Holfacre's practice is not reliant on the side business of selling glasses. As such, she and her staff are extremely focused on checking in patients, gaining insurance approvals and performing eye exams. Glasses can be shopped for and ordered from Cosco directly adjacent to her office. The entire process was completed, including insurance acceptance and check-out, in less than twenty minutes. I can't say enough about this wonderful optometrist and her staff. I'm about to turn 40 and my eyes are changing. I went to see Dr. Hofacre for a second opinion. Wow! What a great doctor!! Not only was she professional and kind but she new exactly what was going on with my eyes. The previous doctor had me scared and in tears, making me think I had a serious problem. It turns out, all I have are dry eyes (Dr. Hofacre gave me eye drops) and I needed a new prescription (other Dr. gave me to strong a prescription for glasses). The office is well run, appointments happen on time and I've never run into any confusion or mistakes (on their part) with my appointments.
