Dark quiet night skies from the backyard picnic table

Stayed 4 nights mid- June 2024 - Love you get your own a frame house cabin to stay in. They're totally remodeled and are in amazing condition inside. Looks awesome. Note: A frame style cabin houses do NOT have air conditioning- only ceiling fans- good to know if you stay in the hot summer like we did. It did get cooler at night but because i knew there wasn't A/C I did bring 2 extra small fans for our bedrooms to keep us cool and had the screened window open for cooler air. I hate being hot. Full kitchen with dishes NONSTICK pots and pans untensils- everything we needed. 4 burner Stovetop does NOT have an oven below so no baking. We didn't have any kind of bug or insect issue at any time. Everything was very clean and tidy. Fireplace uses duralogs only. We had att and could not get cell reception the entire stay at the cabin to call or text anyone until we would leave to go into town each day. Picnic table and Bbq grill behind each cabin was very clean and cabin kitchen drawers had all the bbq grill utensils you need to grill! Check in and out was super easy. Location is so close to everything. Nighttime is quiet and very dark. Love being away from everything but really still close. Kids loved it too. Small playground with swings to play on. We will definitely take advantage of these this winter and again next summer. Winter we will still rent an a frame cabin since it will be cold and the snow with the giant windows will look amazing! but next summer we will rent the 2 bedroom cabin option that has air conditioning! Great little vacation. Vons is right down the street along with a whole shopping center full of every kind of store so swing in there before checkin to stock the fridge and get charcoal and duralogs for your stay if you choose to not pack it before you head here.

Great view of the wintery landscape from the top bedroom area.

If you're looking to get away from the crowds at the snow parks with no cover fees or parking costs, this place is perfect to spend the the day hiking and playing in the snow, theres a lot of hills to go sledding down. The cabins are a great way to relax, especially once you lite that wood fire place. Caution: the road up to the cabins is a bit rough even during the summer.

This was a little midweek getaway trip for me, my wife and daughters in the California Mountains of Big Bear. We had good time enjoying this great recreational spot not far from Snow Summit. There was no snow during this trip, so maybe next year.

Awesome new and near the slopes, the main room gets kind of cold, so leave the door open during the day so that it warms up

Great mountain getaway, we rented a rv spot. Super courteous staff, basketball court, pool table and lots of board games you can borrow.

I meant to post a review of this charming family campground earlier. We had been planning a camping…read moretrip over Labor Day weekend in Los Angeles National Forest, but then we realized there would be a heat wave leading to 100 plus degree weather. Our planned trip was a no-go. Our eight year old son was very disappointed. We brainstormed Big Bear as a place to go, as it would be a relatively balmy 85 degrees. Only problem was, I couldn't find any openings at any of the Big Bear campgrounds for the busy Labor Day weekend. I looked and looked, and finally found Camp Tanda. Before Covid, it was a Christian camp that only catered to large groups and kids' camps. During these times, they adapted for small families. I was happy to find they had one opening left for the holiday weekend. Our trip was saved. Our son was excited. The campground is lovely and clean with lots of trees. It's been around for seventy years, so the cabins have a rustic, vintage feel. We tent camped in a lovely spot near the kitchen building. Everything was very clean. There are restroom facilities, potable water, and hot showers available. There is also a basketball court, volleyball net, ping pong tables, and horse shoe game. The price is very affordable. The lady running the camp was very kind, bending over backwards to make sure we had all we needed. She provided a shade tent at no extra charge, and gave us a s'mores kit our first night there! Things to be aware of: This was and still is a Christian camp. No alcohol, drugs, or weapons of any kind are allowed. Very strict no noise between 10pm and 8am rule, which suited us fine. The camp is located very close to Big Bear Lake, which meant we could hear Air BnB partiers nearby. It's not fancy. Everything is quite old, but it all works fine. We stayed in tents, but they do have cabins available. Bring warm clothes for nighttime. Not everyone wears masks, but even at full capacity, it was never crowded. Easy to social distance. No campfires allowed, but there is a legal gas campfire from 7-10 pm. If you have a family who likes to camp, this is the place for you. Call or e-mail them for a reservation!

He gave us a tour of the property and took us for a walk to show us how to get to the shore because a couple of the guys wanted to kayak. We really enjoyed out time here at Camp Tanda.
