Dr Chai is an excellent urologist with wonderful patient relationships. However, the office staff is rude and incompetent. They failed to notify me that they no longer contract with my insurance provider (and hadn't for 6 months) until two days prior to my semi-annual ultrasound, which I then had to cancel. They have "lost" my appointments twice and argued with me that it was my fault. It wasn't, I have the appointment cards. The last time I spoke with them, the receptionist was extremely rude and when I asked her to stop arguing with me she hung up on me. Office is a hot mess. Wouldn't call or mail me my ultrasound results, scheduled me for the wrong type of appointment when I came in for them, made me wait for an hour. While waiting I overheard the front desk people tell one patient they didn't receive the health information he mailed in; they made him do it all over again. A bit of compassion. She cares. She explained everything and was personable. and she's professional and a great doctor for me. I'm literally at home recovering from the procedure. It said 3 days of rest ans so on. 28 hours ago I came home from the office and I have zero pain and only slight discomfort Second is the office staff. IDIOTS. They screwed up my appointment time twice. Rude on the phone and in person. I asked a week prior to my appointment about the cost. She (office worked) said she's know the day before. The day before they called to confirm the appointment after they told me it was in a month and a half. Had no idea the cost. The day OF the appointment they still could not tell me the cost. Front desk-My patient was bedridden, extremely weak and fragile, and near death (patient died a month after this appointment), so I asked for a zoom instead of in-person appointment. They rudely insisted they don't do zoom and when I asked what an in-office examination entails they rudely said they just do a full examination, without explaining further. The attitude was one of restrained impatience. Front desk is uncoordinated and lacks communication. Because they refused to do Zoom, I had to pay exorbitant amount of money to hire a gurney service to transport my patient to the office, not to mention the danger and pain inflicted when a fragile patient is moved. The examination turned out to be no examination. Nothing was done. Dr. Alavi merely came in and told us information, most of which we already knew. This visit could've definitely been done over a phone or zoom call. He didn't even examine the patient. He came in without greeting and just started talking. His demeanor and comments were at times rude, unprofessional, and erratic. Zero stars for all the above reasons which indicate that this office does not care about patients, even for those near death. Dr. Chai is very rude, loud, impatient and she yells a lot. There is lack of communication, cohesiveness, and followup among the St. Jude doctors as a whole, which really leaves patients confused, stressed, and not knowing which of the St. Jude doctors to listen to when the patient is trying to make crucial operating decisions. Dr. Chai checked out my patients nephrostomy tubes but left one of them open without telling us, which leaves patient vulnerable to infection. There was supposed to be a tube change operation but the hospital or doctor didn't tell us until much later that this was to be postponed. read more

Very unprofessional office staff. I took off work to go there for an appointment for them to tell me that my appt was for the day before at a different time when I knew for sure I put it in my calendar right when I got off the phone. They ended up letting me do the appointment. I just had to wait about an hour. That's one. The doc said I would need a follow up in 3 weeks and they'd call me the following day. I waited 5 days and no phone call. That's two. Then I call them back and their phone number doesn't work. That's 3 chances I tried to give them. I expected the worst, my previous urologist treatment in February 2016, I had extracorporeal lithotripsy and my God, little did I know. I was told there could be a pink tinge to my urine. Well, I was passing blood for days, like full on crimson bloody urine, which had to be strained for fragments to analyse. I was off-work, bedridden for the better part of a week, unable to move without being in excruciating pain even with norco, my mid back was completely bruised. This time, I expected the same. I cannot tell you how many people have heard that story over the last 4 1/2 years. This time was completely opposite, Dr Alexa Chai is phenomenal. My first urine has a slight tinge of pink and that was all. Virtually no pain, in fact took a norco before feed the first night, just in case the procedure meds wrote off I wouldn't be in pain that night. Next morning, nothing. No pain, still straining urine for fragments. I am far from bedridden, in fact, came out to a wrestling arena the very next day. Within 24 hours of surgery I was literally IN a wrestling ring. read more

Dr. Marinelli IS THE BEST UROLOGIST!!! He was the 4th urologist that I have seen. He had the best manners, took the time to explain my options to me, and was gentle/cautious when probing in that area. I was completely impressed by his professionalism. I would highly recommend him. I wish all doctors were like him. He is not in it for the money, he even recommended against another surgery due to his experience with scar tissue complications. This man is trustworthy, he could have taken my money and I wouldn't have known the difference, but instead, he used his many decades of experience to guide me in my decision. Their scheduling department could care less what you need to be seen for.. called my insurance to see if a referral had been submitted a wk later and nothing had been done on their end. The doctor said if I was not happy with their wait time to be seen I should look for another doctor vs trying to find a better solution. I was blessed to not have surgery performed by this office. I found a doctor who saw me for a next day appointment and scheduled my surgery 4 business days later they took care of all the referral authorizations that same day. an hour ago-Edit Worst experiance with a urologist and trust me, I've been to several. Last time I went, I paid my copay of $5-8, I asked if my procedure would cost extra and I was told no. The procedure was painful and when I asked to stop the water being pumped into my bladder they continued until it was too painful and they were forced to stop. I left limping. Later on, about 3 months later, I got a bill for about a hundred dollars. I called the office and was spoken to very nasty by their finance woman. I called my insurance company and they informed me that their office was double dipping, the insurance company paid them out and now they were billing me for the same thing. They did that 2 more times and the insurance company told me again and again not to pay and their finance lady kept telling me different reasons to pay. This was a little over a year ago, today I got YET ANOTHER bill. I have never experienced such a money grubbing company. They never helped me with my problem, only tried to scam me and the insurance. The MD's are great, however the Fullerton office is a hot mess. There are always new front office girls with no personality, I saw Dr Alavi in his Placentia office and what a breath of fresh air, the staff there were very nice and efficient, I was seen within 15min of arriving. Problem: the Fullerton office is where the authorizations are done, I had my appt on the 10th of October and I am waiting on a referral for a procedure I called the Fullerton office on 10/31 s/w Christina who informed me that Veronica is away from her desk but that one of them will return my call. I f/u with the office on 11/1 according to Christina she was told my referral was denied however Veronica resubmitted the request again yesterday 10/31. Since I am in the medical field and have first hand knowledge of how HMO works, I called up my IPA ( where I use work also) and I was told a different story ‍ according to my IPA the office submitted the auth on the 10th however it was submitted without NOTES - they tried to obtain notes with no response so they cx the request , so my request wasn't denied Veronica failed to send medical justification. My IPA also states that this office is bad when it comes to referrals and notes. I called the office back and s/w Veronica and advised her that my request was not denied it was cx due to no notes, she basically didn't care and her response was Ok well I resubmitted yesterday and we are currently waiting for the auth. So my health is not important to her and she just shrugs it off like nothing. Ok Veronica this is why you are put on blast with your unprofessional attitude. read more

The following review is in reference to the ultrasound technician: I was scheduled for a 4:00 ultrasound appointment. I took an hour and a half off of my work day and drove to the appointment. Unfortunately, it's a rainy day and the traffic moved more slowly than anticipated. Right around the corner, the office called me at 4:05 to ask if I was still coming. I said I was about to pull up, and she told me she had to check with the doctor. She replied that he already turned off the machine and is going home since I was not there promptly at 4. Now- I understand that I am at fault as well due to walking in the door at 4:07 for my 4:00 appointment, but the ultrasound technician literally walked by me on my way out, ignoring me. I find it unacceptable and lazy to just walk out 5 minutes after- especially since I waited 25 minutes for my first appointment there. If this is the general policy of the office, I would recommend notifying patients that their doctors will leave if they are a few minutes late. I would also recommend that this doctor not take appointments after 3:30 if getting home without traffic is a concern. Now, the last thing I want to do is reschedule with this technician. Which is a shame, since I had a pleasant first experience. Again, I realize I was a few minutes late and bear some of the blame here- but I think most would agree that this is a flat out unacceptable business practice, and speaks volumes about the lack of professionalism on the part of the ultrasound technician here. read more

Very poorly run office. My insurance company listed this office and one of their doctors as a member of the network. I called to schedule an appointment and was put on hold for about five minutes. The lady I spoke to came back on the line and said that they had verified my insurance plan and they do accept the coverage and scheduled an appointment. I was then directed to their website so that I could download and complete their 11 page new patient packet. I spent 30 minutes completing the paperwork and was all set to go. Then the day prior to the appointment, a lady from billing called and asked me to fax copies of my insurance card. After five tries, the fax finally went through. The lady then called back and said that they could not accept my insurance, because I had not met my $1500 deductible. I told her I realize that I had not met my deductible as it is early in the year. I told her that I would be paying out of pocket for the consultation. She said sorry, we only take patients that we can bill the insurance company and do not take out of pocket paying patients. Very inefficient office staff and a real time waster. read more

fist I need to apologize to dr. Feldman, I think he is wonderful, his receptionist on the other hand needs to be collecting un-employment. I have been going to dr. Feldman since 1993 with visits every 2 years, he is a wonderful and understanding doctor who has always helped me in and situation. we have even had conversations bout our retirement and the possibilities of when. yesterday 8/8/17 I called to make an appointment and was informed I'm no longer welcome at his practice. I went over my history and length of time with the doctor starting with him in Pico Rivera, than Brea than original Fullerton office than his new office and our past relationship. I was told none of that matters, I haven't been ion for 2 years, (((which is my normal visits ))) and I'm now considered a NEW PATIENT and that under no circumstances is dr. Feldman accepting NEW PATIENTS. when I requested that she please mention me to the doctor and see if he would see or at least call me as a patient of his for over 25 years, I WAS TOLD NO...... and again told nothing she can do and again she stated he is not accepting new patients. its hard for me to understand that myself and possibilities of others that have had the wonderful dr. for 25 plus years would be treated with such a demeaning attitude by a receptionist and who must think she owns the office and that he is her employee and not the other way around. I'm sure I can not be the only patient that has been part of the success of Dr. Feldman who now is considered a nobody and that the office, or at least her, doesn't see that our past relationship has any meaning and that in her view the doctor is to good for his old patients that have always been there for him as he was always there for us.im even so upset with her attitude and complete disrespect for his patients that I'm posting my phone number in case the wod3erful doctor has the opportunity to see this and wants to call me, HIS PATIENT, NOT HERS..
