From my first visit, I felt a lack of urgency concerning my condition, and this same lack of urgency permeates the admin staff. I relocated to another state during my care, flying back twice, and needed a referral to a local urologist in my new state. That simple request took 4 weeks, multiple calls and texts. Initially, I was told that Dr. Kohli didn't make referrals. Convincing the staff otherwise was laborious. They don't use MyChart, unlike many physicians associated with Providence. This will force you to deal even more with Southland's painfully slow staff. My final post-visit summary with Dr. Kohli bore little resemblance to our conversation. It read like it was generic prostate follow-up visit text that could be used for multiple patients. Time saving for the doctor, not particularly useful to the patient. If you have the misfortune of needing a prostate biopsy, I highly recommend that you a seek a provider that does a better job with managing the patient's expectations of the procedure and pain management during the biopsy. Better yet, Google the procedure before hand (I did not), to understand that "collecting samples" means 12 of them, something I was wholly unprepared to sit through. You should also bring slip on shoes as you'll be in no condition to sit down and lace your shoes afterwards. This simple little tip would have been useful to include in the single page "Instruction Sheet" that Southland provides pre-biopsy. Also, don't expect a follow-up call from Dr. Kohli after the procedure to see how you are doing. Of course, if you've read this far, you could have predicted that.

He was very gentle and nice at my first visit. I had overactive bladder and incontingence . Dr.K. Louie did all kind of treatment including Urodynamics and Botox but not success after all. Finally he recommended "RESUME"technick which is the REZUM procedure destroys prostate tissue using heat energy in the form of water vapor(even though he did not have enough experience of RESUME procedure). He started RESUME procedure on 09-12-2019. and I'm still having pain and hard to urinate.I could'nt go to sleep for 3 days(not even a twinkle of eye) I 'd called office because of pain and swelling of bladder right after removed catheter and he was out of town. he even did not prescribe antibiotics and pain pill after procedure. He'd prescribed only "Urinary Pain Relief"(you can buy over the count) I went to ER for twice for bladder swelling and pain(because of dysuria). Because of his negligence I'd been suffered for many months. I was(used to be) also a healthcare provider(that's why I did'nt go to court because I know what it is for him and practice). I have to put catheter almost several months. End of that I had severe "Epididymitis"(huge swelling of scrotum) But I have to let them know and all pertinent patients to know that no other patient should be suffered like me afterward. Accurate rating description for two starts is "could've been better." This place only has PA/NP…read moreand no MD on site. They have the capability to draw blood and send to lab for stat orders. Unfortunately, what they lack ends up a longer list. The first MA was unable to get a vial of blood and said someone else would try on my other arm with a straight needed (vs butterfly). She left me without even putting a bandaid on the arm she poked and I had to struggle to put the bandaid on one handed while still maintaining pressure on it. Next MA comes and draws blood and when she's done she yelps I don't have a cotton ball (to put on the vein she just drew out of) and my blood is just pooling while she puts a bandaid on. Luckily I'm well versed enough to know I needed to put pressure on my bandaid. The NP who saw me was new to (per the MA) she really didn't put my mind at ease. Her expertise and knowledge seemed lacking based on the answers to my questions. First thing she asked me was, why are you here and not the ER? I told her my PCP sent me here because she didn't feel it necessitated a ER visit. She wanted me to be evaluated by YOU to assess and in your medical opinion, do I need to be seen further or what course of action next? She swabbed me for flu and covid and I verbally questioned her because I had isolated severe GI symptoms. She said sometimes those present wither GI only. Does it? I don't know, I'm not an MD but I'm also someone who works in healthcare and it didn't feel like the proper procedure. When I asked if she would be ordering any stool samples, I heard through my closed door "do we do that?". Ok, she's new, I'll give her that...but she comes back in and says "if you'd like to have the order for stool testing I'm happy to give that to you." Am I the md or am I the patient? I came here for your professional medical opinion! Do I?! So after I kindly communicated that I am looking to her for her opinion as the expert whether or not my symptoms necessitate an order, she still doesn't quite give me a direct answer! I haven't been to that many urgent cares, but I've come to see a trend that many of the urgent cares that are owned by a company with multiple locations don't have MD's on staff physically there. That said, I've also noticed the trend that many provide sub-par care.

THEY REFUSED TO TREAT ME, AFTER I LEFT MY URINE SAMPLE....UNLESS I PAID WHAT FEELS LIKE A $50 EXTORTION FEE, in order to give me my prescription. When the doctor says they don't hold back care because of an unpaid balance, that is entirely incorrect, and I believe he's lying. His behavior is reprehensible, and he is fully aware of this. I came in specifically because I was feeling unwell and suspected a blood sugar issue--especially since lab work from a different clinic the prior week showed a fasting glucose level high enough to indicate diabetes. Despite explaining this, the Physician Assistant (PA) dismissed my concerns, told me I "didn't fit the profile" for diabetes, and ordered a thyroid panel instead. Three days later, the support staff called to tell me they lost my blood sample and needed me to come back in. When I expressed frustration that they lost my sample for a test I didn't even ask for--while still refusing to run the metabolic panel I actually needed--the staff member literally hung up on me. I only returned the next day because it is within walking distance of my house and I was having the same feeling again, wanting to get to the bottom of what was happening. While the PA on duty that day was attentive, she ended up sending me to the ER for my blood pressure. After waiting four hours at the hospital, the ER doctor confirmed it wasn't an emergency at all. To top it all off, I received another call from the urgent care informing me that they did eventually run a metabolic panel, and my A1C and fasting glucose levels are, in fact, indicative of diabetes. Between the PA completely dismissing a patient's concerns, the staff losing blood samples, and being hung up on, the lack of professionalism and competence here is alarming. Go somewhere else.

I had REZUM done by Dr. Gazzaniga about 2 months ago. Age 62, taking Tamsulosin the last 12 years for moderate BPH symptoms. Some days it wasn't a bother. But increasingly weak stream and dripping was getting to be a bother. Didn't want to take Tamsulosin any more (it wasn't doing much anyway). So I decided to get it done. A few weeks before procedure Dr G did a cytoscopy for a quick look, I thought if this little thing was that uncomfortable the Rezum tool is gonna be awful. But it wasn't. I took a couple pain pills and a xanax as prescribed, was relaxed going into the procedure, and used Pro-Nox system nitrous where you hold the inhaler and administer it to yourself. It made a big difference. Really took me out of the moment. I inhaled it deeply the whole time, about 5-10 minutes, until he said it's done. I was aware of some very minor pain/discomfort, but the procedure was a breeze. Didn't even notice the catheter going in. Had catheter 4 days, it was the worst part of the experience. Couldn't sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time, it didn't hurt, but I was worried it would tangle up or overfill while sleeping. Just a gross thing to have hanging out of your body and strapped on your leg. I pulled it out myself on day 4 per Dr G's instructions, which was an adventure, but it came out easily. Urination was worse than before treatment for about a week, slow flow, a bit of blood and debris coming out for about 5 weeks (no pain or burning at any time). But now the flow is stronger. I am peeing better, it is an improved flow that starts and shuts off like it did when I was younger. NO effect on sex function. I mulled this over for the last couple years, couldn't decide largely out of fear of the procedure and catheter. The procedure was much less of an ordeal than I expected. The catheter was unpleasant, but well worth the result. It is very satisfying to have the urine stream arcing strongly and loudly across to the far side of the toilet again. Dr Gazzaniga has been my urologist for about 7 years now, and also monitors my prostate PSA/PHI levels. I highly recommend him if you are considering REZUM or for any other urology issues. read more

Furthermore, the care that was shown to me was extraordinary. I don't think I've had the same experience with anyone else. I really liked how they charted my history and Dr. Le used a white board, which is so brilliant because I could visually see all of my options (versus remembering them). Could feel the "reeming" out of my veins, but was totally relaxed. The Nurse "DeeDee" massaged my scalp the entire time. Best scalp massage ever!
