Concerns Over 160 Driving Academy's Temporary Suspension of PTO Accruals…read more Recently, 160 Driving Academy's CEO Steve Gold announced a temporary suspension of Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals for all employees, effective June 15, 2025. This decision affects every level of staff--from hardworking CDL instructors and support personnel to managers and possibly even corporate employees. While the official communication framed this as a cost-management strategy, it lacked transparency on the root causes and failed to acknowledge the human impact of this policy. PTO is not just a company benefit--it is a crucial part of supporting work-life balance, mental health, and personal well-being. These are not luxuries; they are necessities for people who perform physically demanding and safety-critical roles every day. For instructors training the next generation of commercial drivers and for those who support that mission, time off is essential for avoiding burnout and maintaining high standards of service. 160 Driving Academy has built relationships with major partners like Amazon, Amazon Career Choice, Swift Transportation, and Freeworld--a tech-enabled nonprofit company that aims to end generational poverty and recidivism by accelerating economic mobility for returning citizens, which is good for society as a whole. These partners may rightly begin to ask: Is this an organization that values its people? Is it stable enough to invest in?. The legality of suspending PTO accruals varies from state to state, depending on local labor laws. However, the broader and more urgent question is not legal--it's ethical and practical:What will this do to employee morale? How will it affect performance, retention, and the reputation of 160 Driving Academy? In times of financial difficulty, transparency, shared sacrifice, and leadership empathy are critical. When cost-saving measures are implemented without meaningful dialogue, it sends a message that the burden falls solely on employees. We urge the leadership of 160 Driving Academy to reconsider or clarify this decision and provide a timeline for reinstating PTO accruals. Long-term success cannot be built on the erosion of trust, morale, and well-being

I also have a cousin that is interested in pursuing her CDL Class B, so this is why I decided to check this place out. Philyica was very kind and knowledgeable, she answered all my questions and was nice enough to let me take pics for yes... another 1st for me ! Philyica did inform me that they do not train for class B CDL, and they do train for class A. All good information, I will be informing my cousin about this place. If you're looking to be trained she also mentioned they have a payment process to assist with that. Check this place out it's next door to teriyaki madness!
