After ordering a antipasto salad which was 1/2 the size of what you get ins the restaurant and spaghetti that had only 3 and 12 meatballs instead of 4 with next to nothing dressing and my bill was over 42 dollars. We were traveling from out of state to see family and were still no where near our destination. It was dinnertime and we saw the billboard on the road for Mario's and the hand rolled meatballs sounded good, although we ended up not getting them. My spouse had the pasta with house marinara and enjoyed it. I had the pizza that was tasty, but the crust was pretty soggy, so could have been cooked a little longer. The salad was very good and had some pieces of what I'm guessing was homemade mozzarella on top, which was an impressive touch! Hopefully on another trip we'll try the meatballs! read more

I like this place. From the music to the outside seating and the friendly service. Our server (shoot I forgot his name...I think Lucas?) was charismatic and very funny. He had such a positive attitude and I honestly think he made the entire dining experience better. Alright. I was not okay with any of the appetizers we ordered. Honestly from the appetizers, it made me NOT look forward to my meal, but I'll get to that. Do not get the bruschetta. It's not real bruschetta. Cheap? Yes. Tasty and appetizing looking? No. Save the $4 for something else. We ordered the fresh calamari - I think I rather stick with the fried. I was not a fan of the sauce. The calamari was very chewy. Again, not a fan. The soups were just okay. Nothing to rave about. Now the good part - the entrees! I highly recommend the eggplant parm! That was my favorite dish of the whole evening and saved the entire experience. Actually, our server saved the entire experience. The Seafood Mario was pretty good too, but I thought it was too expensive for what it was. I think on my next visit I'm going to skip the appetizers and go straight to the entrees. If there is anything you wanna take away from this is avoid the Bruschetta at all costs and try the Eggplant Parm ;-) I would give this a 3 star rating (which means A-OK), but our server was so great he bumped up this review to 4 stars. read more

Let's just say I will never come back food was disgusting, wife couldn't even eat here meal she did not eat at all . sons chicken was so hard could use for a hammer . In a mood for Italian, I hit up Mario's on a weeknight. It was pretty quiet and my waitress only had two tables to work on so she was attentive and stopped by often. This can be a good thing. Salad was okay for me. I specifically asked for a dressing that did not come in a packet and their vinaigrette was tasty. Not a very exciting salad but it got the job done. Main course was the Seafood Mario and I made the mistake of going with the red sauce. You'll want to get the white sauce because really, it was all hot and spicy and not much other flavor or depth. A good amount of seafood - ten clams and five large shrimp. Yes, I counted so that my Yelp readers would know. :-) The bread rocked. read more

My boyfriend's name is Mario and I drove up for the weekend and thought it would be fun to check out Mario's. We got seated right away and the server was very nice. After he brought our drinks and took our order, then he said his shift was over and someone else would be taking care of us. She wasn't very friendly, seemed like she'd rather be doing something else. We both needed drink refills and when she finally came back we were about done and she acted like we were asking for a free meal. She brought our check, didn't say anything and just walked away. We figured we should go up front to pay and she acted like we were a pain. For the food, I wasn't impressed with my meatball sub. The bread was very good, but the meatballs have no flavor. I am truly amazed that I have lived in Chambersburg for nearly 20 years and just are here. A friend recommended this place to me and while I have not had too many items on their menu - everything I have had has been great. The bread they use for the subs has the good crust/crisp shell and smells so good. The ingredients are fresh and so well proportioned/balanced you are not overwhelmed by any one thing. The pizza is wonderful again a beautiful balance and the crust is not to be tossed like you normally would because it's doughy and too chewy; it's a great ending to a superior slice. The service is wonderful. Also takeout is always done on time and their website it so easy. No need to make substitutions the chef knows what they are doing. Was disappointed! As one reviewer said could have gone to a chain! I guess for the price they charge for seafood with pasta would expect more. It's fine if you don't charge close to $20 for it but at that price it should come with other details. Bruschetta was bread with melted cheese and half sliced cherry tomatoes! So after coming to Mario's many times and really enjoying their food and their portions we decided to get some takeout on our cheat day over a competitor. They really blew it. Paid $4 for an order of cheese fries that contained maybe one full potato's worth of fries. Pizza was great, but come on Mario's! You let me down on my cheat day! :( read more

Upon entering the establishment it was business as usual. We were sat at our table and the server came by to take our drink order. He was very friendly but had no idea about the dinner special. He offered up some style of steak stuffed with asparagus, served with lasagna and salad. When we asked what kind of steak he laughed and said he didn't know as the manager created the special yesterday and didn't tell him. Suffice to say I didn't order the special. We did order the crab soup which was hot, flavorful and delicious served up with some homemade seasoned bread. The food ordered came in good order, and the Chicken Marsala was perfectly cooked and flavorful, the grilled fish platter was lacking flavor, the fish simply had no taste and little seasoning. As for the Stromboli, I'm still paying for that one. The onions in the calzone were cut larger than French onion soup some as big as an Orange wedge, hence their lack of getting cooked. I ended up pulling all the onions out of the dough along with some of the mushrooms. How can a place serve up a calzone with raw red onions, which were past their prime, with canned mushrooms and think they will cook at the same time? To top off the meal the host tried flagging down our server to to pay the bill and finally had to yell to get his attention. He was a good server but needed to be more in tune with the needs of his tables. Overall, I give it 3 stars since I've had fantastic meals there before, but tonight not so much. Will try them again in a few weeks to see if they are still having issues or it was simply an off night. On a side note, replace your disgusting ceiling tiles. They are damaged, stained and falling and give your place a run down Italian feel. Maybe one or two spots here and there wouldn't be so bad, but it's an issue across the entire ceiling. read more

We recently ate here and we really enjoyed the food. The fresh bread was delicious and I ordered the seafood lasagna and it was great. I like the MD crab soup and it was a little spicy that day. I did not get crackers so I dipped the bread in and enjoyed it. The portions were good and the value was also good. The waitress was friendly and got everything we needed. The only reason I did not give it five stars is I think the interior needs to be updated a little. Otherwise it was a great meal and I will be returning soon. read more

On our third night in Chambersburg, where we stayed while we visited Gettysburg, my wife and I decided to try Mario's. We usually avoid Italian restaurants but today we made a wise decision. My wife ordered from the regular menu and I went with the Chef's special. They were both "no miss" choices. The food was very well prepared and the service was excellent. The fresh bread was to die for and seconds was graciously provided. The price was very reasonable and we felt right on including a glass of Chianti for me (my wife while not a teetotaller, often prefers water with dinner). We also ordered a take-out pizza for lunch on our way back home to Ontario. We recommend Mario's with no hesitation. We will visit again. read more
