Yuuuuummy! Fresh toppings, great crust and a deal! We called in an order for a medium Mario's special, bread and salad to go. Our order taker was pleasant. The pizza came loaded with quality ingredients. The cheesy garlic bread with marinara sauce was toasted to perfection and the marinara sauce was delicious. The garden salad had tomatoes, cucumbers and black olives. It was large enough for 2 people. Everything was wonderful! We were able to make 2 meals out of our order and still had bread leftover. In the Jamaica Beach area, I've now tried 2 pizza places. This one is by far the best for service, food quality and price. Highly recommend! read more

Got a supreme, a meat combo and pepperoni and their pizza was deeelicious! I'm not a big franchise/ takeout pizza person, so I always look for something better than the norm (like Pizza Hut, dominos, Pappa John's) I thoroughly enjoyed, not super thin, but not thick crust, so yum. read more

They have come a long way since my first review in 2017 which was 5-stars. After the pandemic they stripped out the dining room and eliminated the cozy environment befitting a corner neighborhood Italian restaurant, becoming take-out only. With some revisions the menu was cut, and over time the excellent pizza has become poor. Last night we took out 2 pizzas and cheese sticks after not being there for approximately 6 months. The pizza was terrible, crust not very tasty, cheese thrown on and seemingly like something processed and not fresh. The cheese sticks were like a bad frozen meal. We rated it at a C- to D+ to be generous for both pizza and the cheese sticks. Our Freshettta, thick crust frozen pizzas we buy from Kroger for $3.99 on sale are much better. Since pre-pandemic this store has gone downhill with no apparent care from the ownership to improve. Sad story. read more

We ordered the margarita pizza and Greek salad for takeout. The pizza was obviously not freshly made. It was ready within 5 'minutes of calling. Crust was hard as a rock, toppings cold, and no flavor unless you like the whole basil leaves thrown on top. You can get a better pizza from the frozen food section at Krogers. Only give it two stars because the guy who waited on us was friendly. Oh and the order online link they give you to call to place an order doesn't work. Our rental host suggested Mario's for great local pizza and we weren't disappointed. Winter hours were in effect, which meant limited operating days and hours. No spontaneous pizza ordering for sure. We knew from reading reviews that service could be slow, so we ordered online and gave them 30 minutes more than the predicted "order ready" time. Sure enough, our pizza was ready and waiting when we arrived. We ordered a large Mario's Special. It's 8 pieces. Perfect for two meals for our twosome. The bacon on top was crispy and altogether the pizza was delicious. There's a faint cornmeal dusting on the crust which gives it a nice crunch. Definitely would order here again! read more

Omg what an amazing pizza! The dough was thin but fresh and delicious, a little hint of yeast to really pull it all together. The toppings were unique and good. Great sauce, nice and cheesy. I appreciate a place that lets you half and half toppings (I also am obsessed with artichoke hearts so whenever a pizza place has them I'm instantly already excited). Jamaica Beach folks you have a gem here! Having enjoyed Chicago and New York pizza all my life. This is on par with the best I've ever had. No lie. I don't submit much, but felt these folks deserved it. Did this on a whim because it was late, and Mama Theresa's was too far. So glad we did. (More NY Italiano style by the great crust) We will be back, so convenient to our vrbo wish we knew about this years ago! Got the lasagna pizza. It was fine but could tell it was prepared earlier and then just kept warm before serving. it was not hot, but we were too tired hungry and cold to wait for a fresh pizza. Some of the best pizza I've had in a long time! Every time we visit Galveston our first stop is Mario's! They deliver a great pizza especially the supreme, Alfredo and plain cheese/pepperoni. They also have great salads and house dressing. I wish they were in Dallas they would do so well as we don't have any pizza near this caliber north of Dallas. We have visited all Mario pizza locations on Galveston island. This last visit was at the 61st location and did not disappoint. The mushroom appetizer is always a go to and is always excellent. The pizza was very good as we like the thinner crusts. I can't say enough about their lasagna as it too is a go to. Always good service. Marios is a great go to for us as it is very convenient!! Two different websites, confusing as to location - placed an order, received a 50 minute wait time, but didn't send a confirmation email. Arrive at Mario's (West) location - they don't have my order! 25 minute wait and no salads, garlic bread or anything else available unless we're willing to wait over an hour. Positives: pizza was pretty good, a little salty, took 20 instead of 25 minutes. Negatives: owners, management need to get their act together. No one has claimed the business on Yelp - indicates a poor attitude or lack of passion. This is the service industry, we're looking for great, even exceptional service. read more

Mario's at Pirates Beach offers pickup and delivery on the west end. They are known for their pizza but offer other Italian dishes as well.

Mario's has never let us down. Their pizzas are to die for , well, until this last time.... Lo-n-behold the day we get family visitors we decided to introduce them to Mario's fabulous pizza and boy were we disappointed this time. I think on that day, of ALL FREAKING days, their chef decided to retire and they gave us TV dinner pizzas instead. We ordered the carnivore and it was more like the burnt to death stiff bread charcoaled freaking worst pizza I've ever tasted . Awww hello? Inspection before leaving the box ? Why did I not return it? It was late and 4 miles away!!! Awww forget it (I said...) Do I sound mad? Yes because I gave Mario's great reviews to my family members and we were all disappointed after this experience . Consistency let us down this time. So they had a bad day? I do not understand any possible rating less than 5 stars for this location down the west end a bit, in the Pirate's Beach area. We've ordered takeout numerous times (always SO hot, fast and delicious - just be aware they are closed on Mondays!), and my daughter and I visited in person after an impromptu beach day down the road at the Galveston Pocket Park 2. What goes better with sand in your toes, sunburn, and (ahem) a waning buzz from your beach-beverages than pizza, more adult beverages, and some baller fried mozzarella? You clearly know my answer; nothing. Mario's is perfection. We've eaten at the 61st st location and found it "ok" but as the guys at Mario's West will tell you, they just flat-out do it better. I spent my formative years in NY and CT and am extremely picky about pizza. This is LEGIT as close to NY pizza as you'll get outside of NY. Shiner was ice-cold, fried cheese clearly never spent a second in a Sysco truck, and go ahead, roll on in after a day at the beach looking like a swamp witch.
