    Braised Pork Ragu & Pappardelle
    Neha S.

Everything about this place was AMAZING. The food starting with the bread and olive oil they served in the beginning to the pork ragu and pappardelle pasta was all delicious. The service was also very prompt and attentive, and we felt very taken care of. The ambiance was the best I've seen of a restaurant in Galveston. Because the restaurant was located inside a hotel, the lobby of the hotel was decorated so beautifully for Christmas, and the actual restaurant itself was also decorated for the holidays. We got a great table in the corner next to the windows, so we were facing the pool, and with all the lights dimmed in the restaurant, it really set the mood for a great evening. We also got a free birthday dessert, which made the dinner even more special.

Fantastic place for dinner! Service was amazing. The environment is classy, elegant, and intimate with dim lighting- perfect place for a date or a romantic dinner. Our waitress was on top of it! She was attentive and honest, explaining the specials and new additions to the menu. I was confused as to where happy hour is, because our waitress said it's not at the tables but did not specify where it was (since the website says it ends at 6:30PM). Maybe clarifying on the website would help. I was sad and disappointed when I saw the new menu did not have the gnocchi entree- wish they had kept it because it was my favorite dish here. But I decided to get the grilled chicken and pasta, which was still good. Favorite part of the meal was the peach bellinis, which are quite refreshing and sweet. The lemon drop martini was also pretty good and strong. Enjoyed the complimentary bread too.

Grotto was the Italian restaurant inside the San Luis Hotel Resort overlooking the pool! We came one night during our stay and had a pretty good meal! The calamari was delicious and that marinara sauce was amazing! The Caesar salad lacked some flavor and the trio tomato pappardelle was not my favorite but maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. The red sauce was good so maybe I should've stuck to something red. Service was great and it was nice and easy to be able to walk down for dinner and back up after our meal. The restaurant was fairly small in the back corner but the service was nice with a good ambiance.

Grotto is a Landry's owned restaurant & seeing as how we had already eaten at 6 or 7 of them on our trip & always had a great experience we were confident this meal would be just as good. We could see Grotto ( located inside the beautiful San Luis resort ) from our Hotel Balcony a few blocks away so we ended up walking there. We were greeted & seated immediately & we were very impressed with the incredible ambience and warmth. We decided on the Primo Pizza & the Spaghetti Bolognese. Both were out of this world! Absolutely some of the best, if not the best Italian food we've ever had. For being in such a beautiful, upscale restaurant the prices were quite fair ( 2 entrees & 4 cocktails ) for $88.66. We highly recommend Grotto restaurant 100 percent! Another great experience, thank you Landry's!

Some of the best Italian I have had ! And I am a meatball snob ! The meatballs and chicken Alfredo were amazing ! We also had the tomato soup and it was delicious. The cheesecake is truly phenomenal! Best part is the server was just as phenomenal as the food ! And it's very well priced for the quality and quantities you get ! My complements to the staff and management !

Had dinner with a large group the other night, and we had a great time! I ordered the Trio Tomato Papardelle with grilled Chicken, and it was very filling and tasty! The tomatoes were cooked well, as was the chicken. The strawberry shortcake was also great!! The whipped cream was light and refreshing

We dined at Grotto Ristorante recently, and found the atmosphere to be very enjoyable.  The food was even better! Service was very friendly and attentive, with the staffers being very helpful accommodating my friend's gluten-free eating habits.  Everything we tried was very tasty, but my hands-down favorite dish was the Spaghetti Bolognese.  Tip: The venue is actually located inside the San Luis Resort.

We were staying in the San Luis Resort and came down for dinner. On Sunday and Monday they have a deal for two for $39.95. The family style meal includes Cesar Salad, Spaghetti, Fried Chicken, Load of bread and Cheesecake. The spaghetti lacked a little flavor, but it wasn't bad. Chicken just needed some hot sauce and it was fine. The staff helped us a pick a nice Chianti. I loved the funny artwork. I've been to the Houston location and they have the same theme of artwork. For some reason the food at the Houston location did have more flavor. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'd check it out what when in town.

We had our anniversary dinner there this year, our two kids tagged along, and I got to say everything was great. Amazing hotel setting, all the elegant touches you would expect with that. My kids are pretty well behaved and they were well received at this restaurant. They found enough in the decore and the experience to be entertained and engaged. Now for the food, I had the chicken parmigiana and super tender with great flavor, the pasta was cooked to perfection. My wife had the plate with pasta, shrimp, and lump crab meat, she really enjoyed it. They don't seem to have a kids menu, so we ordered the kids and pizza and it too was a hit. The calamari was cooked perfectly, not too chewy, def recommend. We indulged and went for the chocolate cake and the tierra massu, you can't go wrong with that combo. The valet, receptionist, and waiters were all just amazing. Carlos made our experience extra enjoyable. We have been to way fancier (more expensive) restaurants and Grotto stacks up against any of them.

The interior of the restaurant is small, but interesting. The pizza making portion of their kitchen is visible from the tables, so you can watch them as they make the pizzas. Our waiter was super friendly, and the service was excellent. We started off our meal with the fried mushroom appetizer. Usually, when you order fried mushrooms, you get an entire mushroom dipped in breading and fried. Here the mushrooms are chopped into chunks before breading and frying. It came with both marinara and ranch for dipping sauces. We loved having the smaller chunks, because if you've ever eaten fried mushrooms, you know that when you bite into them , the juice can sear your mouth. By using smaller chunks, it was much easier to eat, especially when piping hot. We were surprised that they didn't carry banana peppers as a topping for pizzas, but other than that, our pizza was fabulous! We deliberately bought a larger pizza than we needed, because we were looking for leftovers. The pizza heated up well the next day! We would highly recommend visiting Mama Teresa's!

But as I was looking at the photos of the pizza, I was trying to understand why the rating was so high. It honestly just looked like pretty standard pizza, so I couldn't quite figure out the angle. But then our meat lovers pie came to the table and I understood. I can't quite describe to you what made this pizza unique, but there was something different about it. I think it might simply be that the crust was airy. Whatever it was, I really enjoyed it. Granted, that magic flavor tended to dissipate as the pizza sat and got a bit soggier, but I still really enjoyed it. My wife ordered chicken parm and she really loved it, but I thought the sauce was a bit on the watery side. Either way, I'm happy we finally got the chance to visit, as we've had Mama Teresa's bookmarked for a while now.

I got to enjoy all of those things last night in the company of our new friends at Mario's! Dishes we enjoyed were the Rigatoni in vodka sauce, pasta and Alfredo sauce but the pinnacle of the servings was the daily special of a freshly caught redfish, lightly breaded and sautéed in butter paired with green beans, served over linguine in a light creamed lemon sauce. Fantastic!!! The service was great and to top it off we indulged with their homemade gelato! Chocolate Hazelnut and Almond for me, a Grapefruit sorbet along with many other options we just had to sample. The staff is well trained and it was a pleasure to share our evening with them. It had something on it, but it was not nearly enough and didn't have any flavor. My shrimp parm was good. They leave the tails on the shrimp even though it's coated with piping hot marinara and molten cheese. It made it really hard to eat. I wish they would have taken those off. It's like leaving feathers on chicken. Must be removed before eating. I never understand why places leave it on. Well cooked and the sauce was delicious. The side of Alfredo was also great. I've gone down 61st countless times, but not once have I ever set foot inside this longtime Italian culinary institution. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ordered from here, either. Mario's was on my radar for the evening on Wednesday after I toured the new Ball High (Class of 2000). I failed to resist the siren song of the dinner buffet, which takes place every Wednesday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. For about $17, diners could have their pick of the five or so pizzas in addition to entrees, pasta, salads, and deserts. I decided to have a slice of each pizza -- cheese, pepperoni, supreme, meat lovers, etc. -- since I was a newbie to the establishment. The slices were the usual hand tossed and not too thick. The cheese-to-toppings ratio was pretty even. Fortunately, I enjoyed each, so much so that I felt stuffed as I worked on my third slice. After pizza, I assembled a plate consisting of fried fish, potatoes, spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken pasta. My taste buds were continuously treated to straight-up Old World Italian deliciousness. I couldn't get enough of the fried fish and chicken pasta. It took me a while to finish the spaghetti because I was beyond the point of full. I had no choice but to forego the chicken masala and seafood rice pilaf. Mario's, which has existed since 1967, has the undeniable feel of an old school pizzeria. Guests can actually feel the warmth emanating from the kitchen as well as the staff. When dining in, be sure to ask for Wyatt. He'll make you feel right at home. Whitney is another person you ought to get to know also. I believe that a lot of my Wednesday evenings will be spent here.
