Late night munchies hits "The Spot." This restaurant has a dining area with a view of the gulf. It's counter service, you order at the counter and they your bring food. It works well and the servers are attentive and numerous. We ordered the Diablo Grilled Shrimp, Onion Rings and a Rum Punch. My Diablo Grilled Shrimp were spicy but not overly hot. They were cooked perfectly with that crisp snap. Grilled vegetables were well seasoned and crisp, not grilled to death. The green chili rice burst with flavor and clumped together the way I love, not in tiny individual pieces of rice. The Onion Rings had great flavor and expertly fried The Rum Punch a let down. It was a good drink it just wasn't cold, cold even with the ice. Shake it then pour it over new ice. But it was good for $11. I really like The Spot! It's fun and the food is great. It's crowded and can get a little claustrophobic though. read more

It's a Friday night and the place is very busy. I was surprised we were able to be seated immediately. Once seated, a guy came and brought drink and food menus. There was no introduction or anything. When he came back I asked, what is your name? He said Jason, the same guy who gave you the menus. I replied, I wasn't sure who was serving us. The drinks we ordered were really good. They came out fast. Drinks were definitely refreshing. We received our food very quickly. Juan brought the food out and was very nice. He made sure everything was correct and offered additional condiments. All of the food was good. Jason came by and looked to see if we received our food/needed refills, but didn't ask if everything was okay. He just looked and walked away. The Spot, located along the seawall on Galveston Island boast of spectacular views of the gulf while enjoying your meal. Walking in, you order at the counter and then can choose seating either on the ground floor or the second story which features an outdoor balcony. The balcony has wiring to combat the variety of birds flocking to the area. We ordered the Crispy Baja tacos and Diablo shrimp tacos. Both came with a side of chips and salsa. The serving size was generous! However, flavor was lacking for both plates. In the Crispy Baja tacos, the thick, battered fish easily overwhelmed the fresh salsa and slaw. Overall, I recommend this place for the gorgeous view and suggest skipping the fish tacos for burgers and drinks. read more

Our cashier was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. My boyfriend ordered the seafood platter, and it was delicious. I had the blackened fish, which was just okay for my taste. Next time, I'll definitely be ordering the fried seafood instead. Weird is the best way to describe my experience. The food is equivalent to the quality at Long John Silvers. So sad that this place has all this potential with their extensive menu but the quality and flavors are severely lacking. I ordered an ahi tuna salad and the taste of the dressing was off-putting. It had a strong overpowering taste of sesame oil and ginger. I get that these are two normal ingredients for an ahi salad but I have made these at home multiple times and it is way better. The hush puppies were extremely salty and lacked that corn flavor. Everything just tasted either bland or overly dressed. The service was odd as well. Every time they bring you your food to the table they linger and ask very quietly if that completes your order and just makes it all awkward. No one in my party was satisfied with their food and several of us had stomach cramps after eating here. read more

I've always passed by this restaurant whenever I visit Galveston, since the line often wraps around the street. On a lovely and mild July, we ventured in. There are two entrances. The "dine-in" line is packed with families. The "bar patio area" is walk-in and diners need to be 21+. We waited momentarily in the "dine-in" line until an employee gestured for us to skip the entire line and be seated immediately in the "bar patio area." Service was quick and attentive. My boyfriend and I felt very relaxed in the easygoing beach vibe. We also sat conveniently next to the restroom doors, so we could watch the line and time when we needed to use the restroom. There is only 1 stall for each male or female. We happened to be present for Happy Hour, so we ordered a Margarita Flight (all very delicious and appetizing). The Margarita Flight cinched the cozy "don't worry about anything beach vibe." We also shared the Seafood Platter: Shrimp Kisses, Jumbo Fried Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Beer-battered fish, and Fish Filet! The Coconut Shrimp was absolutely scrumptious that the true test of love was revealed on who would eat the last piece. (My boyfriend is such a sweetheart that he ensured that my foodie heart was indulged!) The Coconut Shrimp was hands down my favorite for the crispy and juicy batter! Considering the fact that I'm not fond of coconut, the Coconut Shrimp will change your tastebuds! Parking is easy too... along the Seawall and also near the restaurant. They even have a complimentary garage (which is very handy). Parking along the Seawall is free after 6 pm. I highly recommend visiting this local favorite when in Galveston! read more

My friends and I were in Galveston for the Lone Star Rally, and The Spot ended up becoming our go-to place. We came here three different times, and every single visit was solid. The food was always on point -- the Diablo shrimp, calamari, and the seared salmon were all legit and full of flavor. The service here really stood out, too. Alicia, Nique, and Makenzie, they all made sure we were always taken care of, and the manager came by each time to check on us, which you don't see everywhere anymore. I think they forgot to put the dressing in our batch, but honestly, it's not that big of a deal since coleslaw rarely stands out anywhere. I will say the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were both very good. The cocktail sauce was heavy on the horseradish, which I really liked. We ate on the upper outdoor deck, which had a really nice atmosphere. There was a great view of Pleasure Pier. It was a little loud with the traffic, but overall I was very happy with the visit. It says something about when the table busser is more polite than the checker. It was our first time and we weren't aware of the ordering: for those who aren't aware, you order and find a seat wherever you can, and the servers bring out your food to you. Not what we expected but wasn't bad. Overall, I'd have better more friendly staff working the check stand, Jacqueline needed an attitude adjustment, but the lady with colorful hair bussing tables deserves a raise! Edit: There was a lady that had slipped and fell right at the entrance of the door, and the 3 hostess at the stand were just sitting on their phone. They could have given less of a sh*t. People were asking for the manager and they just looked at the people helping without a glance up from their phone. Terrible. I tried something new on this visit and got a smashed burger. I can see why this is one of their top items, it was pretty tasty. I'm one who loves a seasoned burger but my patties were very salty, flavorful but salty. I added bacon on top of my burger which just aided to the saltiness. The fries are good but you must eat them immediately while they're crispy unless you like soggy fries. I also got a key lime pie and was not a fan, I think Edward's frozen pie tastes better than this. This was my first time going inside the restaurant and the ambiance was very lively.
