Our cashier was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. My boyfriend ordered the seafood platter, and it was delicious. I had the blackened fish, which was just okay for my taste. Next time, I'll definitely be ordering the fried seafood instead. It's a Friday night and the place is very busy. I was surprised we were able to be seated immediately. Once seated, a guy came and brought drink and food menus. There was no introduction or anything. When he came back I asked, what is your name? He said Jason, the same guy who gave you the menus. I replied, I wasn't sure who was serving us. The drinks we ordered were really good. Put a bad taste in our mouth on this place, we had heard good. There was a busser, with rainbow hair and was very kind, polite, and friendly during our meal. It says something about when the table busser is more polite than the checker. It was our first time and we weren't aware of the ordering: for those who aren't aware, you order and find a seat wherever you can, and the servers bring out your food to you. Not what we expected but wasn't bad. Overall, I'd have better more friendly staff working the check stand, Jacqueline needed an attitude adjustment, but the lady with colorful hair bussing tables deserves a raise! I've always passed by this restaurant whenever I visit Galveston, since the line often wraps around the street. On a lovely and mild July, we ventured in. There are two entrances. The "dine-in" line is packed with families. The "bar patio area" is walk-in and diners need to be 21+. We waited momentarily in the "dine-in" line until an employee gestured for us to skip the entire line and be seated immediately in the "bar patio area." Service was quick and attentive. My boyfriend and I felt very relaxed in the easygoing beach vibe. We also sat conveniently next to the restroom doors, so we could watch the line and time when we needed to use the restroom. There is only 1 stall for each male or female. We happened to be present for Happy Hour, so we ordered a Margarita Flight (all very delicious and appetizing). The Margarita Flight cinched the cozy "don't worry about anything beach vibe." We also shared the Seafood Platter: Shrimp Kisses, Jumbo Fried Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Beer-battered fish, and Fish Filet! The Coconut Shrimp was absolutely scrumptious that the true test of love was revealed on who would eat the last piece. (My boyfriend is such a sweetheart that he ensured that my foodie heart was indulged!) The Coconut Shrimp was hands down my favorite for the crispy and juicy batter! Considering the fact that I'm not fond of coconut, the Coconut Shrimp will change your tastebuds! Parking is easy too... along the Seawall and also near the restaurant. My friends and I were in Galveston for the Lone Star Rally, and The Spot ended up becoming our go-to place. We came here three different times, and every single visit was solid. The food was always on point -- the Diablo shrimp, calamari, and the seared salmon were all legit and full of flavor. The service here really stood out, too. Alicia, Nique, and Makenzie, they all made sure we were always taken care of, and the manager came by each time to check on us, which you don't see everywhere anymore. Food is mid, at best, and the accommodations are haggard. It could really use a good cleaning and freshening up. We had burgers. They were not very big or flavorful and were a shade above warm. I also ordered a side salad which would have come out with no dressing had I not pushed the server to tell me my options. I guess there is an unfortunate trend going on with so many bad reviews in the last few months. First off I sat for 30 minutes after my wife and kids food had arrived until my plate had come out. Wait staff was absolutely lost. Now for the great part. Food did not set well with me in fact as soon as I left the place my stomach was already quite upset. Later last night I began projectile vomiting every hour of the night like I had just drank the water in Mexico. Update after being terribly sick most of the day decided to go see my doctor and I in fact have food poisoning most likely from bad seafood. I do not recommend this place, the staff is horrible and the food is subpar for the price. I really hate to leave a nasty review like this but they need to restructure that place. The restaurant is nothing fancy however it's very beach vibe, swings under the restaurant for kids, on the beach, great outdoor seating with beach and ocean views. I only rate this minus 1 star because I ordered 2 chicken fettuccine, one blackened, the bar tender took our order, even was specific entering one blackened for us and yet we were charged for shrimp and received shrimp. By all the stuff that it had on it you would think it had flavor but it did not. The fries were not bad. My mom got the spinach dip and again it lacked flavor. This place was busy too. First time in Galveston for the Super Bowl and stumbled upon The Spot. I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! We caught the happy hour, and both the food and drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was perfect for the game--great vibes all around. However, the real highlight of our visit was Jimmy. Jimmy is nonverbal, but he is easily the hardest worker I have ever seen. He was everywhere at once, bussing tables and constantly checking in on guests. Even without words, he made sure we were taken care of, flagging down waitstaff the second we needed something. I tried something new on this visit and got a smashed burger. I can see why this is one of their top items, it was pretty tasty. I'm one who loves a seasoned burger but my patties were very salty, flavorful but salty. I added bacon on top of my burger which just aided to the saltiness. The fries are good but you must eat them immediately while they're crispy unless you like soggy fries. I also got a key lime pie and was not a fan, I think Edward's frozen pie tastes better than this. This was my first time going inside the restaurant and the ambiance was very lively. Considering that I'm a local, this place used to be my favorite go to spot for drinks and wings. But the last few times I've been to the upstairs bar the bartenders/servers are not very welcoming at all, they never have a smile on their face and they don't know how to make some of the drinks on the menu. I did go late at night with my sister around 10:30pm and was told they close at midnight but everyone seemed like they were ready to go and shutting down at 10:40... the bartender didn't even give us a last call to order another drink and she said it loud and clear to her co worker that she was told to shut it down at 11 o'clock. So when I asked if I could order another drink she rolled her eyes and said "gimme a minute" and proceeded to shut down the bar. The lemon drop margarita of the month was good but the hospitality was not worth waiting so we left. read more

Not my first time but it's been a few years. This was a late lunch on a Friday in January. So it wasn't crowded. Service was good. They do ask for your card up front before you order. The view is excellent. The chips and queso were tasty. The onion rings were excellent. The smash burger was ok. I didn't like the pickles or the sauce and the bread is a little thick for my taste. Others may love it though. It's in a prime tourist location, so as expected, the prices were high for burgers. Parking can be tricky. Came here because it came up as a good place to dine. WRONG Food: NO, one time visit! I ordered the Fish & Chips ($35)...the batter was thick, doughy and a bit over cooked outside but could not have been cooked much longer before burning. The dish came with 3 fish strips, waffle fries (not a fan), tartar sauce (good), coleslaw (ok), cocktail sauce. I had a Hurricane, taste like it was pre-made. Service: OK, open seating. You go through the line to place your order, given a buzzer, find an available table, and wait for food to be delivered (they find you based on the buzzer location). I left a tip, the food quality is not the server's fault. Ambiance: Ate outside under umbrellas, nice breeze off the water. The ground was not cared for after table cleanup so birds were having their way eating what was dropped. A couple came in with a service dog and the dog had started eating from the food that was on the ground, owner pulled it back. After that seen, it was time to go. It was unsettling, uncomfortable, and felt very unsanitary. Service: the service was okay. Nothing great, nothing bad. I don't have much to say about it. Food: so they brought me the wrong burger the first time (the sweet and spicy burger) which looked very good but it is not what I ordered. I forgot to take a picture of my correct burger but I got the King burger. I really hate to say this but it was awful. The meat was not seasoned with so much as salt or pepper. It was so greasy on the bottom that the bottom bun was disintegrating as I picked it up.. the fries were decent. We also had fried pickles in the beginning that were solid. Drinks: my partner ordered a frozen mango margarita that came as liquidy as juice. I ordered a spicy margarita that had a chemical taste. This was my second time here and I had great service both times. My sister is autistic and a picky eater and couldn't explain why she didn't like her food, and they were still accommodating and very kind and helpful and went above and beyond in getting the issue resolved. My snapper was excellent and I had no complaints and would definitely order it again, the fish and mango were both very fresh. The bathroom was clean and the seating was comfortable, which is important to me in a restaurant. My only single complaint is that I do think something was wrong with their soda machine, because my Dr Pepper tasted off. That seems like a temporary issue though. read more
