    Delicious Blackened Red Fish Tacos
    Kelly C.

We sat on the bar area on a Tuesday for lunch while on vacation. Service was ok. Way too hot and humid in the bar. Redfish tacos were great. Had to leave after 2 cocktails. Bar tender was more interested in chatting with the locals, which is fine, totally understand, but it just wasn't our vibe. We like to chat with local bar tenders wherever we travel.

The Spot is a fun vibe spot on the Seawall to checkout. There's free parking in a garage lot if you can't park at the restaurant. I tried the carnita tacos and enjoyed my meal. The service did mess up on my friends to go order where she didn't get all her items but they fixed it for her so that was really nice. I love all the various plates they serve here.

The view is incredible! The food however is not the best on the seawall. Lots of fried options but they do have salads. Service was great no complaints. We were there on a Sunday and were not crazy packed. Great place for a view, drink and bite to eat.

The service is nice, you stand in line place your order then find your own spot to sit. We got the slider, Wings and fried pickles. It was ok, the chicken wasn't tasteful and the slider was lightly warm. I got hibiscus margarita, I thought it would be frozen but it was over ice. Inside seating area is a big area but the seating table spots are too close to guest.

I had the fried shrimp with waffle fries and it was good. I wasn't a fan of the slaw, but the shrimp were Great!! The Spot was close to my hotel and they always have great food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are in Galveston, go to The Spot! Go get Full

Can never go wrong with the famous shrimp sandwich. I had the fish tacos. They weren't all that in my opinion. The hush puppies were amazing and worth it. Service was quick, ambiance was alright. It's best to just quick and eat as it gets very crowded and busy and you can't really talk in there.

The place had good views if you could catch a good spot but I really think it is more of a bar with food, not a restaurant with a bar. Everything was mid for the prices tbh. The service was great though!

21+ bar entrance - no line!

I've always passed by this restaurant whenever I visit Galveston, since the line often wraps around the street. On a lovely and mild July, we ventured in. There are two entrances. The "dine-in" line is packed with families. The "bar patio area" is walk-in and diners need to be 21+. We waited momentarily in the "dine-in" line until an employee gestured for us to skip the entire line and be seated immediately in the "bar patio area." Service was quick and attentive. My boyfriend and I felt very relaxed in the easygoing beach vibe. We also sat conveniently next to the restroom doors, so we could watch the line and time when we needed to use the restroom. There is only 1 stall for each male or female. We happened to be present for Happy Hour, so we ordered a Margarita Flight (all very delicious and appetizing). The Margarita Flight cinched the cozy "don't worry about anything beach vibe." We also shared the Seafood Platter: Shrimp Kisses, Jumbo Fried Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Beer-battered fish, and Fish Filet! The Coconut Shrimp was absolutely scrumptious that the true test of love was revealed on who would eat the last piece. (My boyfriend is such a sweetheart that he ensured that my foodie heart was indulged!) The Coconut Shrimp was hands down my favorite for the crispy and juicy batter! Considering the fact that I'm not fond of coconut, the Coconut Shrimp will change your tastebuds! Parking is easy too... along the Seawall and also near the restaurant. They even have a complimentary garage (which is very handy). Parking along the Seawall is free after 6 pm. I highly recommend visiting this local favorite when in Galveston!

My friends and I were in Galveston for the Lone Star Rally, and The Spot ended up becoming our go-to place. We came here three different times, and every single visit was solid. The food was always on point -- the Diablo shrimp, calamari, and the seared salmon were all legit and full of flavor. The service here really stood out, too. Alicia, Nique, and Makenzie, they all made sure we were always taken care of, and the manager came by each time to check on us, which you don't see everywhere anymore. The whole place just has a good vibe, good energy, and good people. The Spot really became our spot while we were in town. Definitely a must stop whenever we're back in Galveston.

    Carnitas Tacos
    Clara G.

We went well on vacation so we understand the up-charge for being so close to the beach. I initially wanted chicken Tinga tacos but they gave me Carnitas and honestly I'm so glad they did. I was between the two or else I would've sent them back, but I felt like it was a sign. They were so delicious. The Carnitas had a really nice flavor in the sauce and the avocado was delicious on top! Everything tasted really fresh!

The view on the patio is the best thing about this place. I was extremely disappointed in the food quality. I ordered the turkey burger and it lacked flavor. By all the stuff that it had on it you would think it had flavor but it did not. The fries were not bad. My mom got the spinach dip and again it lacked flavor. This place was busy too. I was surprised at how many people were there when the food was this bad. I guess the location? The service was pretty good though and friendly. Needless to say I would not be coming back here.

Is this a good place to watch games?

Yes it is its really good

Can you see the Fourth of July fireworks from the outdoor seating? We're coming from out of town and would like a chill spot for dinner and to still see fireworks.

    Yes

Is the outdoor seating dog friendly?

    Only for service dogs

    Is it kid friendly?

    Yes.

What is the exact dress code ? Me and my boyfriend were going to get a drink. He was wearing a solid color shirt and they said he needed a logo on it to get in? I'm very confused

The bars do not allow solid color t-shirts. This has to do with gang colors. They just don't want issues.

Can you bring a toy dog?

    No. Only service dogs

What is the best time to go with kids on the weekend where there won't be much of a wait?

We went around 6:30 and it wasn't bad at all. You order at the counter and then wait for your name to be called. Super easy!

    Are they dog friendly?

I've only seen a service dog once.

    Can I make reservations?

They dont take reservations. It is find your own seating.

    Are they dog friendly?

I don't believe so. And honestly, the service sucked when we went and the food was mediocre.

So do waitresses exist here or nah?

The place has multiple places to eat in one spot. Some have wait staff some does not. I believe it's 5 different venues 2 have a wait staff.

    Do they allow dogs?

Not positive but I did not see any dogs so thinking probably not.

I'm confused on which areas have sit down seating with menus and not an order at register type menu?

The Spot is an order at the register then be seated where y'all want. They will bring your food to you or you can pick it up at the counter

    Is this spot Dog friendly?

Pretty sure they don’t allow dogs, I’m a regular there, and I’ve never seen any. Probably because it’s a restaurant too..

    DO THEY ALLOW LEASHED animals?

    No

    Do they have a photobooth?

    nope they do not

    Good for kids?

    Yes

It had Texas size shrimp feast of: jumbo grilled shrimp, blackened shrimp Veracruz & rice, rispy shrimp frogs, fried shrimp on fries, & Mexican shrimp cocktail. The jumbo shrimp was my favorite out of the whole thing. It was seasoned and had a spicy kick to it. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was strong on the tomato flavor. It had a bunch of shrimp mixed up in it along with some shrimp on the glass. This dish was not for me. It was a little spicy but overall I guess the tomato was too strong for me. I think people who enjoy something like michelada or bloody Mary's might like this. The shrimp that was on the skewer tasted a little burnt from the grill so it had that char taste.

We began with cocktails xtra Dirty Martini with hand stuffed blue cheese olives and for my husband a Maker's Mark bourbon . This gave us time to look over this incredible menu! Seafood is what we came for so we ordered 2 sharable items: soy, ginger octopus on crispy wonton and roasted beat walnut and fried goat cheese salad. We could have stopped there completely wowed. Both if us love Texas Redfish and it's so hard to get fresh seafood where we live so that caught our eyes. Husband ordered blackened and redfish over mushroom risotto and French style green beans. Risotto was perfectly cooked al dente and both veg choices were the perfect accompaniment! Honestly it had been a ling time since we had such a beautiful meal. Service was outstanding and he even picked up on a comment by my husband encouraging me to order whatever I wanted given it was a birthday dinner. That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. I decided to lean more toward the 4-star side, so here we are. While in Galveston for a quick weekend getaway, we wanted to go out for dinner. Katie's was my first choice, but the wait was too long, so I pulled up Yelp to see what else was recommended. Shark Shack had great reviews, and when we arrived there was zero wait, so we went for it. The one area where I docked a star was the service. We were seated immediately but waited quite a while for our server to appear, and then even longer to get our drinks. I was so excited for a margarita, but when it arrived in a plastic cup, I was immediately disappointed. Plastic cups are for the beach and nightclubs, not a restaurant with a bar. And that's not where the awful drink experience ended -- it was so weak and just not good at all. Our server seemed so disinterested in everything: taking our order, answering questions, and when it came time to pay, we had to wait ages to see him and wave him down. The food was decent with no major complaints. It wasn't "blow your mind" amazing, but it was good. The owner -- well, I assume he was the owner -- came and spoke to us when he found out my husband was military, and he was really nice, friendly, and very supportive of the military community, offering a very generous military discount. That definitely raises the rating and is much appreciated, so thank you. Overall, the big fixes for me would be the service and the drink situation. I can't say we would rush to come back just because we love Katie's for the service, food, and drinks..

The service isn't that of your regular sit down restaurant. This place is more of the "walk up to the counter to order and do everything yourself". Not the most friendly staff, but not rude either. We also got the fried shrimp as part of their pick 2 platter. It was good, but nothing special. The sides were fine as well. We also ordered boudin balls a la carte, and those were flavorful and crispy. The fried catfish really was the star of the show and good enough for me to overlook everything else.

Order through a line with menu pasted above the order window Given a number for your order The kitchen window shoves your food out for pickup Serve yourself drink fountain The food was subpar You would think that a seafood restaurant on Galveston Island would serve large gulf shrimp Not here ! The tiny shrimp were actually closer to bait. Truly a lack luster meal! Here's a tip if you like to dine in comfort. The main dining room is competing with kitchen heat The open air atrium is breezy but hot The adjacent room with the men's restroom is Very cold and enjoyable Regardless of the reviews you read , Trust me this is a place to skip Go to Katie's on the pier You'll be better served

Because this might be my new favorite restaurant in Galveston…read more --- --- --- We had been in Galveston for a couple of days, and while we had some solid meals, we were feeling kind of gross and overstuffed. Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. A lot of Galveston eateries are very similar, in that there's an ample amount of fried seafood on the menu, which is not exactly what you're looking for when you're in the bloated, but wanting to eat *something* state that we were in. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.

The Vietnamese taco stood out the most for me, while the Baja and Korean flavors were just okay, not really my favorites. Overall, it's a chill spot with a relaxed vibe and not too crowded. I'd recommend coming during happy hour to get the best experience.
