Every trip to Galveston gets me excited because I know I'll be stopping at Papa's Pizza! It's become a tradition at this point. I've visited with different groups of friends over the past months, and I always insist we eat here. Watching everyone take that first bite and instantly understand why I keep bringing them back is the best part. The pizzas are consistently fresh, cheesy, flavorful, and generously portioned. Every visit has been just as good as the last, which is why this place has earned a permanent spot on my Galveston itinerary. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and almost always buzzing with customers. Parking can be a little challenging during peak hours, but it's a small price to pay for pizza this good. Saw this as we booked by on the Seawall. Love when a place sells slices. We ordered two slices of pepperoni. Pizza looked great. It wasn't horrible but wasn't the best. It was pizza. Each slice was $7.99. Two slices and a bottle of Diet DP was about $24. I should have ordered a small thin. Maybe next time. I will say the people they worked there were GREAT!! Ordered pizza 30 mins before closing this past Saturday. I was told it would be a 5 mins wait for a medium pepperoni pizza. Came back 5 mins later and it was not ready. Waited another 10 mins and they were confused with my order. Manager came out and said it'll be right out? Not sure what the confusion was there. The cheese on this pizza was the strangest I've ever ate. Not to be rude but this is probably the worst pizza I've ate. We should have ordered dominos or Pizza Hut to play it safe. read more

The restrooms were rather dirty. Our food came out quickly but the pizza was super greasy which was a huge turnoff. We also ordered cheese bread and mozzarella sticks which were good looking but very bland. Flavor was definitely missing. The beignets were pretty good and soft. For less then $20 I was able to get some fries and a Texas sized slice of pizza. Before you say, "Rhiannon, does 1 slice really fill you up?" YES. Yes it does. I split it with my boyfriend and we were stuffed. They were really nice and gave us an extra soda on the house and even upgraded our fries to a large size due to us waiting for awhile (we weren't complaining) Go early for seating because this place gets filled up pretty quick. We came in around 6:45 on a Sunday and probably by 7:30 the dining room was getting packed. Ambiance: The atmosphere is loud and bright, with plenty of booths and tables. There are a few TVs, including a large screen that was showing the big football game. They call your number when your order is ready. Calzone: We ordered the calzone with pepperoni and sausage. The outer crust had a nice garlic flavor, and the Texas size was huge--easily enough to feed 2-3 people. However, the sausage inside wasn't very good; the flavor was off, in my opinion. Overall, the calzone was just okay, especially considering the decent price. Calamari: The calamari appetizer was affordable, but it wasn't great. We were greeted quickly by the staff and handed us menus to look over. We chose to order a XL pepperoni pizza, wings, and cheese bread. Our food came out pretty quickly yet was hot and omg delicious! The wings had to perfect amount of heat and the ranch that came with it was tasty and didn't taste like it came out of a bottle. The pizza was equally as good with just the right amount of grease. Everything on the seawall closes around 9pm so we decided to try Papa's Pizza as it's open until 12am. This was a great choice! The service was great, all the staff were friendly and ready to help. The cashier let us know all the options we had and was very helpful with our order. The vibe of the restaurant was super cute, with lots of tv's to watch sports, lots of seating, and cleanly. We ordered a pizza with half pepperoni and half Hawaiian, it was AMAZING. So fresh with lots of flavor and a generous amount of toppings. The line to get in this place says it ALL!! We were blown away how nice all the employees were and how hard worked.. especially Marisol!! She is our fav.. hands down!! Now the food.. we have driven by this spot sooo many times because it was packed. Well, tonight we found a parking spot and walked in. Right when we walked in the lady behind the counter told us to grab a menu and go find a spot to sit and then come back up and order. We studied the menu and went in!! The pizzas came out first, then about 2 minutes later the wings. Unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. Gluten free pizza was okay. It want a cauliflower nor rice flour crust. Not sure what type of GF flour they used but I didn't get glutened. Cooked all the way but dough and crust were a bit too soft for my liking. Hubby's said his papa deluxe was average but since he didn't have breakfast and only had crackers on the plane he ate half his pizza.
