My first time at Mario's was about a month ago and it was very delightful, the guy in the front with the old school hat on who introduced himself as Ben was very nice and accommodating , very knowledgeable on all the questions I had about the menu. The girl by the register was also very sweet and helpful. My second time back was disturbing. This kid should not be in customer service at all, very rude and nasty and the way he talked down to the employees was terrible, I found it he was the manager his name is Michael and after that day I won't be going back. Nobody needs treatment like that... I'm 48 years old and this kid is talking down to me and talking to me like I'm stupid... honestly he looked stoned in my opinion... learn some customer service Michael. My son told me about Mario's Pizza..because he loved their speciality pizza called "Nonna's" ! Well yesterday I was in town, picked up a surprise for my son. This was the most delectable pizza I have had in a very long time. This pizza was delicious, crunchy light, it was just perfect! The staff were very friendly and the pizzeria was very clean. Not to mention the choices of speciality slices that were ready to choose from were over the top, mouthwatering, and they all looked fantastic! This place has really fallen off. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is above average for taste in the area but I can't tell you how often I order my pies well done here and they come out barely cooked. When they are busy during lent, maybe I can get it once in a while. I ordered on an evening when the boss clearly wasn't there. I told the guy well done twice and picked it up. Got it home and the pie was barely cooked, like the little dough they used trying to cheap out on the pie was still extremely soft and had no color to it. I called back and asked my ordered was marked to be well done and I was told it was. When I explained it wasn't they just said sorry and don't know what they can do. If anyone has a better place, please let me know because I've lost faith in this place with their lack of attention. Asked a (real) Italian friend who lives in Old Tappan where he goes for pizza and he immediately directly me to Mario's, so I had to check it out. On our first visit, my wife and I had a meatball pizza (which my buddy highly recommended) and we were not disappointed. Great crust, nice sauce and plentiful meatballs. We decided to make another trip when my wife saw that they had white clam pizza on the menu. This second pizza was a BIG disappointment. A white pizza with dabs of ricotta on that great crust but their idea of clams was a few drizzles of white clam sauce. There couldn't have been more than 4 spoonfuls of clam sauce. Not one real clam at all. This is not how you make a white clam pizza. Definitely don't order this pizza; you will be as disappointed as we were. We will be back however to try the more traditional tomato based pizzas with different toppings. As for the clam pizza - they need to get a real Italian in there to show them how it is done. 4.5 stars for the first pie, 1 star for the second. read more

I tried calling this place after my wife left a bad review 6 years ago and guess what, here we are again. The disrespect, the unprofessionalism, and the general rudeness are beyond the pale. I cannot understand how a business can remain open with this complete lack of customer service. The way they answer the phone, the lack of clarity, the extended pauses, and the non-existent confirmation of what was said - it's infuriating. I watched my wife take 5 minutes to order a pie and the guy never confirmed what was ordered or my wife's name so my wife simply hung up. I then called back to confirm we were canceling the order and I swear I was talking to a troll. I'm tired of giving money to places that appear not to need it or care. Just had the most shocking experience. Have been ordering food from Mario's for my daughter's lunch for 6+ months. Always had pleasant interactions (via text). Sent her to school on a day she doesn't usually go, and I forgot to pack a lunch from home, so I called in a panic to see if they could deliver something quickly (she's only 3, and it was already past her lunchtime). The owner asked me the name on the account - I said it was either my last name or her last name, and I gave both. He said he couldn't help me because I didn't know the name on the "paperwork". I'm pretty sure he could have looked up either of the two names in his "system" but nevertheless, he got very angry that I couldn't just give him one name and told me I was being sarcastic about the way he "ran his business". He told me he was canceling the entire lunch order going forward and hung up. I ran over to her school to bring her lunch but felt really weird about this horrible interaction, so I went in to the pizzeria to try to make good (I had nothing to apologize for, but I hate any sort of bad blood). I was talked to in the most nasty way from the start of introducing myself and I finally lost my cool. a long time customer of D'Andreas in Norwood, I discovered they are permanently closed and needed to find another deli for Prosciutto Hero. Disappointed with Mario's as the prosciutto tasted more like ham than prosciutto and the bread on the hero resembled a long soft roll rather than a hard crusted hero bread. And the cost on the menu is $9.95 and when charged $11.70, I was told that tax is the reason- was not aware that tax on food in NJ is more than 14%. I will not be returning.
