The food is good, but parking is exhausting & service is lacking. I've been there multiple times in the past few months and service is not good at all. It's not even the wait staffs fault. It's idiotic management. They have the waiters and waitresses working with no rhyme or reason. Instead of having assigned wait staff, one outdoors, one in the bar and one in the dining room, they have them all overlapping covering multiple tables and providing poor service for everyone. It took an hour and a half to have lunch today because the poor waitress had to work outside and inside. It hurts their tips and it's not even their fault cause they're doing their best. It was a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy. Dined at the table in bar section. Started off with the premium bucket ($25) of Modelo. Bucket filled with ice. Very cold and refreshing. I will say that it was hard to decide what to get since everything sounded so good. Ended up getting the Prime Rib Sandwich ($19) which comes with fries. This is one of the best places in the county to sit down with the family and eat some great pizza. The restaurant room has a very friendly atmosphere. In fact, they were experimenting with a guy making balloon animals, and the kids LOVED it. The pizza features a thinner crust with a nice bite to it. There are so many choices of pizzas too. We are here at least 3 to 4 times a month and it is worth the drive for us. The food is absolutely amazing. The service is great. The pizza is next level. It is out of this world. We also suggest the Mediterranean salad and the mussels ! If you definitely want to get in here, I suggest making a reservation earlier in the week for the weekend because it does get extremely busy. Have read the great reviews and finally checked it out! Would be 5 stars except for the poor service. Took a while to have our order taken even though it wasn't particularly busy. Am guessing our inattentive server forgot to get our food and and it sat for a while. When brought by a different server our food was luke warm. The good: It's not a pricey night out even with a couple rounds of beers added. The bad: We tried the Carolina wings and they brought out clearly burned wings. When we pointed it out to the waitress she acknowledged they were overdone. Why would she bring them out knowing that? No quality control. The sweet and spicy pepperoni pizza with buffalo cheese. No one finished one slice of this. We let them trash the rest. My group NEVER wastes food. Nothing about this pizza worked - not the sauce or the pepperonis or the crust or the cheese. The mediocre: Absolutely everything else. We were excited at the idea of a thin crust. It should be crispy right? Nah. We ordered 2 other pies: a mixed one with sausage, peppers, mushrooms, and onions. a plain cheese. The only thing crispy were the very edges of the crust. The sauce and cheese were just OK. Again - nothing stood out with the sauce or cheese or crust. One of my dining partners compared it to a pizza from Chuck E Cheese. The buffalo wings - bland and the meat inside was just a shade dry. If you haven't been to Grant Street yet you definitely must go. If you do go make sure you make a reservation because the place gets busy. There are two sides one that has a bar and the other side that is a more casual dining room. The bar is always busy and the bartenders are very friendly. Check out their website, every day of the week they have a daily special. We recently just went on a Wednesday when they do the parms and pots and you're able to get a Parm dish for $14 and a salad is also included. It was delicious and there was so much left to take home. Cheese layer is thin and not remarkable. Wish there was more, or at least the presence of that cheesy, gooey, saltiness. Sauce, was almost not present. No crispy bite of the crust. Disappointed. I got two pies. They were the same. Not great, not bad. Will I go back? No. Also, the pricing to eat in is cheap. Pricing to take out is literally about double. Yes, double. Grant Street Cafe was a welcome escape from all of that. Not only does the bar have a friendly family feel to it, the food is amazing. The Frizzys where delicious and the fries were well done. Found out about the Grant Street Cafe through a certain pizza reviewer. Wish I knew about it sooner. There's a great neighborhood vibe to it. Completely packed on a Saturday night, glad we had a reservation. They had outdoor dining, a bar area, and a dining room. We went with friends of ours and while the place was full, we were still able to hear our conversation, always a plus for me. Our waitress (Stella) was very helpful and friendly throughout the meal. Since we hadn't been there before, she walked us through the menu. So many good choices, we ended up loading up on appetizers and pizzas and saving the entrees for a future visit. The mussels in white wine and garlic are fantastic! I've had overly chewy mussels elsewhere, I've had fishy mussels elsewhere, these were perfect in texture and flavor! We also loved the huge pretzel, delicious on it's own and with the dipping sauces. Fried pierogis off the specials menu were great as well, crisp exterior with smooth potato filling. The wings with Grant's Buffalo/BBQ sauce blend were excellent. Crispy and sizable with zesty sauce. The bar pies we went with deserve their own paragraph. We had a pie featuring vodka sauce and crispy pepperoni. That was our favorite, the texture, sauce and overall flavor are great. We also had the burrata margarita pie. The hottest place in Dumont. We're new to the neighborhood and thought most of the town was pretty dead. Little did we know...the entire town hangs out at Grant Street Cafe. It's a neighborhood bar with standard American bar food. I've eaten here a few times and I'm always pleasantly surprised by how good the food is. Beer selection is great as well, and they've got interesting deals each day. It's consistently busy so it can get difficult to be seated, but the manager here is always accommodating. We come to catch Knicks games, and they always make sure we have a good view of the game on the nearest TV. read more
