Dante's is one of the most popular pizzeria in the neighborhood. I put in a take out order on a Sunday afternoon for 3 pies of pizza, cheesesteak, wings and salad. Got an estimate of 25 minutes over the phone. Walking into the store, I saw the huge counter display where many pizza pies were display. They also had a nice dine-in area, with tables and wall arts. It was busy in there. I got to try to regular cheese pizza that was excellent. Liked the semi thin crust with a thick layer of cheese and sauce on top. The cheesesteak was decent, had a good mix of the beef and cheese. The wings were dry bone kind. This was my second time having meal from Dante's and both times I felt their pizzas were solid quality but other items such as salad, wings, sandwiches were less appealing. read more

You might have heard it before but you are going to hear it again - It feels like family. Starting with the glorious smell when entering the restaurant, hinting of what's to come. Best pizza by far starting with the crusty crust to the extraordinary pizza sauce as well as obviously fresh ingredients which, I might add, they do not skimp on. If you haven't guessed, I am a fan. This place is very big and clean and has an outdoor seating area, which was very nice. Everything we ordered from the chicken Parmesan, which my daughter loved, to several different slices of pizza was delicious. Looking forward to going back and ordering some other items off the menu. Went here last week and ordered a large pie and a bbq chicken slice lady at counter checked that they had the bbq chicken slice and told me 20 min to pick up. I get there and no bbq chicken slice she asks the guy at the oven who has the customer service skills of a outhouse rat about it he says it's gone no other explanation she asks if he can make another he says no. Great customer service never asked if I would like something else just said 17 dollars for pizza. It was like just take your pizza and go. Pizza is good there but their customer service skills a severely lacking. read more

Pizza here is good and very reasonably priced. We ordered 3 large pies (1x pepperoni, 1x Hawaiian, 1x Margherita) and it came out to only $45 + tax. I've only had pizza here, but I'll definitely try out some of their other menu items next time. read more

Dante's Pizza catered my daughter's Sweet 15 on a Friday night for over 100 people. The food arrived on time, there was a great variety for all the age groups. The food was delicious in particular the garlic knots, chicken and broccoli pasta, chicken parm and penne vodka. Danny: I couldn't have asked for a better catering experience!! Everything arrived as we discussed so we can have two serving areas, the food was hot and people were able to take food home. You were so easy to work with. I just want to say that the food is great. One of the best pizzas I've had in NJ/NYC area. However my review is more towards the character of the owner. The owner (shaven head and big) is one of the kindest human being in the US. Whether it be driving slow to let the elderly cross or to be kind to other minority races, he is a true exemplar of a kind hearted best human being. Sure if the food sucked I'd not go but the food is great as well. People like him should succeed in life and be rewarded for everything he does. TLDR: Pretty good pizza but terrible customer service. Been here a few times and while I've consistently found the pizza to be solid, I cannot get over how poor the service is. When dining in, once a young kid was asked to wait on myself and a few others, and though he tried his best, he was mostly absent. I don't fault him, but even when I've come on other occasions, the staff refuses to just let me pay initially and instead requires me to sit in the dining room where "they'll bring it to me". I'd be happy if I could just come to the counter to pick up my food and drink and pay, but because they want the tip they don't allow that. Unfortunately they never show up except to serve the food once and then disappear. Every time I've had to come up to the counter just to ask for a refill (which they begrudgingly give and sometimes even claim it costs extra). I don't mind coming up there but then don't demand a 20% tip when you literally aren't doing anything. That all being said, I gave three stars because the food is generally good. Solid margherita pizza and garlic knots, and they actually offer a smaller size not just large only. Haven't tried the other items, but look good from what I can tell. After my last experience, I will stick to takeout only. read more

We came for dinner on a Saturday night and most of the tables were full with only one server. He was doing the best he could to take care of everyone and even acknowledged how busy it was and to bear with him (which we appreciated). Food was really good! We had a grandma slice, garlic knots, a calzone, baked lasagna, spaghetti vodka and the spicy rigatoni special. The spicy rigatoni special was unfortunately way too spicy; I think they accidentally put too much red pepper flakes because it was all fire, and no flavor. I have a high tolerance for spice and really couldn't eat much of it. However, when the owner noticed I didn't eat much of it and asked me if I thought it was too spicy, I was honest and said yes, but was totally fine taking home the leftovers. He insisted on making me another batch and didn't charge me for it! I thought that was incredibly generous of him and the kind of customer service that will keep us coming back and telling others to try this place. Diaphanous sea bass in a pizza shop? Yup, at Dante's last night, I experienced a life memory: a special of Chilean sea bass in a red-brown sauce with capers, roasted peppers and onions. The bass was so light, moist and fluffy, as if it were steamed en papillote, really fine cuisine...but then this is a "Pizza Restaurant". Things should be a bit special, in a restaurant, but this dish could hold its own in a fine seafood restaurant. And my wife's shrimp and broccoli in cream sauce brought endless "mmmmm's". One of my favorite local pizzerias when I used to work in the area! I used to get lunch here all the time. Drunken grandma pizza and the garlic knots are some of the highly ordered things when I am back in town. They have wide variety of pizzas if you want to grab a slice. Staff is as friendly as can be and are very attentive to all their customers. Food and service are great, and this place has such a personality that makes me feel at home. The banter and liveliness amongst everyone here, regulars alike, just make it so much homely. I'll intentionally come here just to get a conversation if i'm too stir crazy at home, with an added benefit of a good grandma slice or some specialty slice. They've got some great sides like garlic knots, arancinis, etc that you can always try with a nice helping of marinara, though i find myself always going to the ol' reliable slices. I've had some good experiences here, but the last few pizzas were not up to snuff as they say. In my opinion the sign of a good or great place is consistency. You want to know that what you're getting is honing to be on par with last meal; especially if it's delivered or take out, when you can't just send it back. I saw this place has great reviews so I decided to stop buy for a quick slice. Showed up around lunch time and decided to eat it in the back patio. The tables we distanced and it wasn't overcrowded! The grandma slice was okay (could've used some more sauce.) However, I really enjoyed the cesar salad slice! The lettuce made it nice and refreshing on a hot day. It can can a little bust at times there, but that's just to show how great their food and staff are. I have seen this place when I get my nails done at the same plaza. One night, we decided to give them a shot: ham and cheese calzone and an order of mussels marinara. Delivery superfast, 20 minutes, to Bergenfield. Calzone loaded w melted cheese and ham. It got here hot and crispy. But the mussels. Lord those mussels. Big and tender and sweet...the sauce, however, was the best we have had. Pools of tomato stained olive oil floated atop a beautifully textured marinara and it was delightful. So, our next delivery was another 2 items upon which our judgement of a new restaurant rests: Plain pie. Cold Antipasto. Now, note here, when we get pies delivered, we get them undercooked and uncut. We fire up our oven to 425. Once the pie arrives, into the oven, right on the rack it goes. 7 minutes and bam. Perfection. The cold antipasto was well balanced and delightful. All in all, Dante's delivers. On all things. Order directly from them. And remember to tip!!! read more

I have been to Dante's in Cresskill many times and have never had the same thing although the Lea's Calamari is something I will always have. NEVER had just an ok meal there. Not afraid to order something new because I know whatever I order will be soooo good. People are friendly and service is great! I wish I had taken pictures but everyone had dug in too fast!! Usually we order pizza, which is always great. We tried their food this time and their penne vodka stole the show, along with the chicken parm, calzone, and eggplant parm hero. The bread on the hero was really good which made the sandwich. We also had a side of linguine with tomato sauce that was excellent. Had leftovers the next day and still great. Food not bad, quick delivery and freshly made calzone. The thing was huge! Almost the size of the box! It was freshly made and had lots of cheese with sauce on the side. It was ok, but just ok. The wings were soggy as hell, almost inedible. Wings need to be naked as opposed to breaded in order to add sauce otherwise they will become soggy. Never get breaded wings with sauce! A no for future ordering. The buffalo chicken wrap was good though, although my wife complained about the whole wheat wrap. Didn't really know if I wanted to provide a review but decided to do so as many of our issues could be fixed. First the pizza counter staff needs to learn to shut up. We arrived early one evening pretty empty at the time only to have to listen to S this F bomb that from the pizza staff...... really guys you are cursing like truck drivers with patrons in the restrurant. I would drop dead if that every happen at Rudy's in Closter. But learn to control you child selves. Secondly the wait staff needs to be trained, maybe not by the guy cursing like a pig. They need to learn how to deal with a squeaky wheel, Cresskill is a rich town, made up of plenty of people that think they can do and order what ever they want. We watched as both staff pandered to a complaining group at one table going back and forth nearly ten times while other tables were left unattended. Consider your table layout and rotate like a clock. Ignoring all the other tables while you attend to one is not good. Unfortunately the food wasn't the best but I was willing to give it another try but there are plenty of Pizza places in the area so I think we will not be back. read more
