I really, really like the tacos here. They are simple, delicious, and fast. One drawback for me about this place is that I don't love cilantro (I am that weird person; sorry if you read my reviews regularly and see me mention this al lot, but I think it's important!) and there is a lot of cilantro on the tacos, as they are traditionally made. I once tried to order the tacos without the cilantro and it still had a lot on it. But if you don't have a problem with cilantro, or if you love cilantro, then you will LOVe the tacos. This is a true hole-in-the wall place. I think many people drive past this spot on their way to the med campus or to Uptown, but they need to STOP and purchase a taco or 5. It is truly authentic. I have a very good friend who is Hispanic and she loves eating here fairly often. They are reasonably priced, as well, and there are varying choices to select from!

Good authentic Taco bar foods. The burrito is awesome at $10, also I recommend asking for the sauces after getting your food!

The ambience is perfect, with the soft Hispanic music playing in the background. They have traditional Mexican dishes you normally can't get at Americanized Mexican restaurants. I had the regular "Tortas" [submarine sandwiches]. Al Pastor Tortas was what I got. This is a warm "telera" bread [a savoury Mexican bread made with wheat flour] toasted over the grill with your choice of protein, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, queso fresco aka cheese, and crema. My meal was delicious and filling. I also had mango juice to do with my meal. I had an amazing experience, the workers were friendly and the food was amazing! If you're in Winterville, NC, and you are craving some fresh and authentic Mexican food, I recommend stopping by this taco shop. Taqueria Tere was highly recommended by a friend, and I am happy to pass on the recommendation.

My sandwich ( I know, should have taken pictures) was literally half that size - if not less. My bread was nowhere near the size of the Yelp picture either. Skimpy ingredients inside only added insult to injury. The sandwich I was served was absolutely, positively not even close to being worth $10 plus dollars. It was a $4 sandwich after hunting for the chicken. I can go to Chipotle and order three times as much food $10-$11 bucks. Utter disappointment.

I love that they offer movie screenings and other themed activities/events. A friend & I had drinks and tapas at the bar but there were other options for seating either in the open area w/ umbrella tables or under the awning. Our drinks were pretty good and I would go back for such. I loved the drinkware! I had a chicken burrito bowl that was just ok. It lacked seasoning and I had to add salsa & lime juice to give it a little life. I don't see it offered on the most current menu. There wasn't a whole lot on the menu I could eat to avoid dairy, pork, and beef; so, I was happy to find that this dish was easily customizable. My friend had the birra barria tacos and really enjoyed them along with taquitos. The bartender seemed to be in her own world and aloof - maybe she a lot on her mind. She was holding the bar down by herself and seemed to be cleaning a lot. I can't say she was very friendly or attentive to us; however, when I got her attention, she delivered. There was a guy that came out later who had a totally different (and pleasant) vibe - greeted us w/ smiles & energy. That was appreciated.

Spanish is spoken here and when I walk out I know a little bit more Spanish than I did coming in. The servers are super friendly and love their decor inside. On Fridays, we eat tacos…read more Somewhere during the pandemic, my friend group decided we wanted to try birria tacos. We'd heard that there was one place in town where we could get them, which came highly recommended by a friend who'd been here. The caveat was that the birria tacos are only served on Fridays. So we planned to do birria tacos on Friday. We came here and got 4 orders of birria tacos. I added an agua de Jamaica to my order. While we waited, I perused the adjacent grocery store and purchased some Mexican Coca-Colas, conchas, and a box of mango Pulparindo. Soon enough, our order was ready. We took our goodies back to my place, turned on a good movie, and partook in our feast. These tacos are full of flavor. The meat is tender, and the cheese was perfectly melted inside the consome-soaked tortillas. The meal is served with pickled onion and habanero pepper, fresh cilantro and onions, limes, and a house-made hot sauce. Of course, in true birria fashion, there is a cup of hot consome in which to dunk the tacos. The freshness of the condiments perfectly compliments the fatty richness of the tacos. Jamaica is my favorite agua fresca and always reminds me of my favorite Caribbean drink, Sorrel, as they are both made from the hibiscus flower. Though Mexican Agua de Jamaica has a different flavor profile than Sorrel, it always fills me with a sense of comfort and nostalgia. Their Jamaica is delicious and comes in a huge cup, so you always get enough. Since this first visit, we've made taco Fridays a tradition. I always order the birria tacos and agua de Jamaica. I've also tried lots of their other tacos (asada, chicharron, pastor, lengua, etc.) as an add-on to my birria order, but the birria outshines them all. These tacos are absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend adding them to your Friday takeout tradition. Be sure to peruse the pastry case for a fresh dessert to finish your meal and pick up some other treats along the way.
