I always get the Torta, which is a Mexican sandwich that you can get with any meat you wish (shrimp, steak, chicken, pork, or even cactus!). The sandwich is served on special rolls that I have only ever seen at Mexican markets in the bakery section. It has refried beans, lettuce, tomato, pickled jalapeños, queso fresco, and avocado. They are HUGE and only $10. I have heard that the burritos are good there but I've not had one. Someone brought me tamales from there once and they were pretty good, but they are only served on Thursdays. The internet says they stay open until 9 pm Thursday through Saturday, but the signs in the windows say Tuesday to Sunday 11-3 and closed on Mondays. read more

Truly was blown away, only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is bc I sat in the car while someone else went in and order togo So, I personally only had interaction with the food. Lol However, based on the food alone it was DeLISH.... and Humungous. One Burrito($9-10) or Torta ($10 Mexican style sandwich) can feed 2-4 people. We shared a Shrimp Burrito and a Chicken Torta. I was impressed by the freshness of all the ingredients the seasoning of the meat and the mere size of the orders. Coming from NYC where we are the melting pot of all cultures we tend to have extremely high expectations when it comes to cuisines. Every time I visit the south Im never impressed bc every restaurant marinates everything in pork (which I don't eat or red meat) so my hopes are always low. Well I have officially found a spot worthy of a repeat visit besides Chic-Fil-A One of the high lights was the THREE AMIGOS... their homemade hot sauces. I ordered a shrimp taco and a tilapia taco; I also got a side of the hot sauce, to-go. I didn't even make it out of the parking lot because my mouth began to water. Both tacos were outstanding! My very favorite thing on the menu is the tacos al pastor (when they ask -- yes, you do want the pineapple!). But I've never had anything that wasn't amazing. So so flavorful! And so fresh. The gorditas are another favorite -- filing of your choice combined with meaty cheese and sandwiched between two thick corn tortilla-type flatbreads -- yum! Douse everything you order in one of their homemade salsas (the sweet salsa, slightly sweet and slightly spicy, is particularly good), and you'll leave happy and full. I've never been to Mexico so I won't pretend I know what the status quo is in the Taco world but I have been to every southern state bordering Mexico and Anita's is still THE BEST taco I've ever had! Eddy is doing some magical things over there. We have yet to order something we didn't like. He even convinced me to try his lengua or cow tongue. It's something I had a bad experience with one time but the way Anita's makes it, it's more like a beautifully aged piece of beef, slow cooked and shredded. His hot sauce is amazing, the staff is always so nice and if he has time Eddy will come say hey and make sure your food is just right. Get there early because this is a local hot spot. If it's packed, the wait is worth it, trust me. Or get it to go, either way it's crazy delicious. They also have a good selection of great tasting Mexican beers, try the Carta Blanca, it's my favorite! Thursday is Tamale day and they are to die for. read more

The place was super authentic and delish! The servers were really sweet and knowledgeable about the menu items. On the way out we were told by a regular that the owners used to have a food cart/truck. He stated that the lines used to be crazy, but they then moved to the restaurant! That's dope. They did it right. Shrimp Torta- this sammich was humongous and yummy. The bread was the highlight for me. The shrimp was juicy and freshly cooked. Over all this thing was super balanced, surprisingly light, and delish. Shrimp burrito-super yummy. The rice had awesome flavor, the shrimp was freshly cooked and juicy, and it was also huge. My love ate the whole thing! Cactus side item-We ordered a side of cactus, holy flavor. I highly recommended trying this side dish. It was authentic, different, and delectable. The onions were nicely caramelized and it was seasoned really well. Yum. The medium and hot sauces were bomb. Next time I come back to Greenville, I'll be sure to stop by here! I went here for the first time recently and since I'm picky about meats, I decided to play it safe and special request a bean burrito. They are a massive size, all the fixings are inside and they use mozzarella cheese which is different for mexican places I've been to but it was so good! And it came to the table hot too. Rice was perfect and had good flavor. Sauces were on point. They checked on us multiple times during our meal. Place was clean, not too loud with the music. Average prices. No more chipotle for me!! Blown away! Those are the first two words that popped into my mind after taking just one bite of my steak and shrimp burrito. From the outside you would never know this is an authentic Mexican eatery that will change your views on what a burrito should look and taste like. I had thought I knew, until I had a bite of one of their gigantic burritos that could feed two people easily (or an adult and two kids was my personal experience). Upon entry, I noticed every booth was taken (save for one that we quickly sat down in) and there were a number of people waiting for "to go" orders as well. I first chalked this up to just being "prime time" lunch timeframe, however, once I tasted this made to order shrimp and steak greatness (with SO many options of what you would like within your burrito it was Indians) I was transported to a whole new level of Mexican Food goodness. This was unlike ANY other Mexican eatery I have ever been to...and I am still craving for another one of their burritos or anything else off their menu for that matter! Next time I will come early, give myself ample time (because greatness doesn't happen quickly and you don't wanna rush a good thing anyways...right?! ). And they had run out of flan by the time we arrived at 12:30....and well, I NEED to try a few more things off their menu just to verify that this indeed is the best place ever coming out of Greenville, NC...but from what I have seen and tasted so far, I wouldn't be surprised if that statement isn't spot on! Everyone else who was there already knew this I'm pretty sure, and now I know why they were willing to wait so long for their "to go" orders. If I lived locally, I would frequent this establishment for sure! Small place outside of Greenville, I went during lunch hour and was very busy. After reading reviews and trying multiple places for a good burrito I decided to try them. Good customer service, they misplaced my order and I ended up waiting almost an hour before getting my food, however the cook came out himself and apologized and gave me half off my meal which I really appreciated. The burrito was huge! I could only eat half. Tortilla was perfectly toasted. I wish there would have been some cheese but other than that it was something i will come back for! So....this is the best thing I've come across since living in Greenville. Ever since I've been living here, I'm always on the lookout for good, authentic Mexican and haven't been pleased with really any of restaurants in Greenville. That was until I found this gem. My go to's are al pastor, carne asada, chicken of course, and the nopalitos (cactus) tacos are soooooo good. The rice and beans are amazing. I recommend eating there because I love the atmosphere, the staff is great, and the food is even better with a beer :) read more
