I've been attending Mario's tacos since I graduated from high school many months ago in fact, I remember him behind the cash register! No, I moved out of the area. I stopped to get one of very, very famous green burritos yesterday.. always excellent, pleasant service and immaculate dining area. Caveat do not park in the first couple of spaces as you enter from Whittier Boulevard. They are exclusively for the La Mano tortilla bakery and they'll tow you away if you're over at Mario's without having called in a phone order trust me! Fortunately, I called in an order to Marios first and also purchased tortillas by the way and dealt with a great person from the tow truck company people have been going here for years and years and years it's the real deal

    Many options

I have been going here for over 50 years and I think they still have the best green chile burritos around!!

This is my first time at Mario's Tacos and trying out the food my wife and her dad they been here many times they say it sports and Mexican and presidential pictures and so many items at this restaurant it feel like a musuem. But anyways we look at the menu display and see what to order then we saw.a sign it's CASH ONLY there's a ATM we got cash to purchase our meal. My wife order the chorizo plate and her dad order the albondiga soup and I decided to order the two tacos of shredded beef plate. The restaurant is very popular with local residents coming for breakfast or lunch it also a bathing places to met. They call our number to pick up our food my wife dad albondiga soup looks very good. I open the container it have two shredded beef tacos and rice and bean. The tacos is very crunchy with one bite and I can taste the flavors of the taco like the shredded beef season well very good it have cheese, lettuce and Pico de gallo and the rice and beans were very good full of flavors I really enjoy it. My wife say her chorizo plate was not good it lack more chorizo and the egg were over cook she couldn't taste the flavors of the eggs and the chorizo. My father in law enjoy the albondiga soup and rice he finished the meal. We need to come back again

Flat burrito, what happened to the old Mario's?

This is a tuff review for me to write, first off cash only, still? It's 2025 you gotta get with the times. I grew up in Pico and I'm proud of it, I've been eating Mario's since I was a kid in the 80's. I remember coming in and seeing Mario smiling and saying hello to everyone as well as Celia she was always so kind and would even remember me when I'd come back into town after I moved to get my Mario's fix. I live an hour or so away and still come back to Pico just to eat Mario's. Today I sat there and looked around and literally had tears in my eyes seeing what the place has become or has not kept up with the times so to say. I mean do I enjoy the fact that I can walk in and get time warped back to when I was a kid, kind of but to see that the kids (now owners) have not done anything to up grade this gem is just sad. I ordered today and I as always do I asked if they can wrap my burritos in foil, I was told they would charge me for the foil. Wow! When I would come to town and Celia was still there she would always say of course we can wrap them for you in foil since you have a long drive and never charge for foil. I also asked for extra salsa and was told I would be charged for that as well, again never was that a thing. I wasn't asking for a lot just a few extra, after all I ordered 5 burritos. I easily use 2 of those small cups of salsa for 1 burrito. To top it off my burritos looked like quesadillas they were so skinny(see picture) not only that I saw the son there and was kinda stoked to see him and was hoping to say Hi! But he looked like he hated being there, not one hello to any of the guest sitting waiting for food. The restaurant over all just seemed very dingy, I mean maybe it's time to get with the times. A new pos system maybe some screens to display your menu with pictures, some new paint on the walls, remove all them old pictures of the presidents on the walls, something! I love the little pictures they have of Mario and Celia on top of the T shirt display but they deserve to have a painting of them on the walls hung or a mural type painting to honor them. It hurts me to write this but I mean looking at the Yelp reviews I can clearly see I am not the only one who's sees what's happening here or not happening here, either way I believe you need to keep up with the times. They have an instagram with no pictures and facebook with very few pictures and no activity going on them what so ever. Very sad to write this but I truly hope they read this and at least think about what Mario's used to be and what it can still be if they put some of that Mario and Celia love into it. Honestly not sure if I will go back and that makes me feel like a piece of my childhood is gone. It's just not the same!

What are the prices like? How much for a bean and cheese burrito?

The green Chile burrito is $3.50. A bean and cheese is less. I believe there are recent menu photos posted as well.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

It comes as part of an entree, but never found out which one. Turns out the cook/owner was once the executive chef at Angel Stadium. So food was solid, traditional and nothing fancy nouvelle or la de da...nothing crazy experimental...just good solid Mex that will satisfy a craving. The Jamaica was not too sweet not too sour....not watered down...light and refreshing....wish I had asked for a refill or maybe they don't do refills on agua frescos, I don't know. Very nice extensive menu. Plenty of free parking. Tucked in the corner of a strip mall on Roaemead Blvd. Not easily visible from the street in any direction. So pay attention to your GPS.
