I ordered 3 burritos and they only gave me 1 little salsa container, only enough for 1 burrito. When I asked for more they said, "NO, it's only 1 salsa per order". So I said "if I would have ordered them all separately, I would have got one for each burrito" and she replied "yeah, basically". Haha that sucks and doesn't even make sense. So if you're somebody who likes salsa with your Mexican food, this is not the place for you. Also, this place was super hot. I was sweating while I was eating my salsaless burrito. Bad experience. I've been going to Mario's for so many years and I think recently the service has improved! I always other either the Green Chilli Burritos or their tostadas and an order of fries (these are like pan fried fries not deep fried) It is an old location but with a large dining room. Prices are similar to any fast food place. The burritos are around $5-6, tostadas I think $5, fries $4-5. Love this place and I definitely recommend it! read more

Just bought a couple of green burritos, a taco & an order of fries to bring home. Opened the fries & they were dry & not hot. Totally unacceptable. We called them to see if we can come back to get a replacement & they said it's not their policy. They refused to replace them. I've been coming to this place whenever I'm in Pico Rivera. Once you walk through the door (and the door is lovely with all the intricate woodwork) you can tell this is a LONG-STANDING establishment. I'm sure there was a time this place was packed with families but covid has totally scaled-down the operation. Everyone has their favorites here and you can read that people do get upset on changes but I'm here for simple classics like the green chile verde burrito and the red chile verde burrito (if you want a kick). Used to be good. They still only take cash which isn't too big of a deal but I wasn't happy to spend $27 on one all meat green burrito and five shredded beef tacos. Prices are way up and my tacos tastes like jack in the box tacos. The meat in the tacos was good but whatever tortilla they use or something made it taste bad. So many things have changed from the past years when I'd come. I was a loyal customer for 20 + years. Now the staff are young & were so impressionable and rude at my visit. Food wrapped in yellow paper means it is going to be iconic. I have been eating at Mario's since I was a baby, and I am now 35. There is seriously nothing even close to comparable where I now live, in Orange County. Its worth the bit of a drive to go and eat the iconic bean and cheese burritos, taquitos, hard shell tacos, and French fries. This has been a family favorite for decades, and my husband is now a lifelong fan. There really is no better place for hard shell tacos. The carne con chile verde burritos are also iconic. A good tip is to add cheese! This way, you get the magic of the bean and cheese burrito combined with the carne con chile verde. I am not a sugary drink person, but I always wash my meal down with orange bang when I am here. It goes perfectly with the food and brings me back to the days when I was a kid. This place is cash only, so come prepared. Also, they are REALLY strict with the covid regulations, more than any other restaurant I've been to. Mario's Tacos USED to be one of my favorite places to eat at for the past 20 years, especially when Ms. Jimenez was around. This place is not the same. The employees are not personable, cold, and sometimes rude. The restroom stinks of mildew, too. Their standards are no longer at par with the place I once knew. I once ordered three burritos, two hard-shelled tacos, an order of taquitos, and only received two small containers of salsa. When I tried to get more, I was told that it was two salsas per order. I was furious! I then asked if I should've ordered separately to which I didn't receive an answer. (She was kind enough to offer one more salsa, though.) As far as prices, ridiculous, even with inflation. Their food portions are not what they used to be, either. Glad to say that I will no longer be dining there. I don't know where to even start... my wife from LA says that this taco place has the best fries and I was like , "what?!", "cmon now". 05/27/19 Haven't been back here since 2011 I think at that time I ordered the wrong thing. I got the pastrami quesadilla it was not good. You know what they say if you don't order the items the restaurant specializes in it's not going to be any good. So I decided to give Mario's Tacos another try. I got the Chile Relleno and beef taco combo plate it was yummy the chile relleno had the right amount of cheese, chile pepper and the crunchy taco was pretty good, over all I was satisfied. I'll be back to try the green chile verde burrito combo plate. The cashier and the workers were nice and not rude that other yelpers said. First time trying this place, so right off the bat, not sure if it was undergoing some sort of construction or maybe they just never had the chance to fully reopen after the pandemic but when we first walked in, the first area was filled with tables and chairs that were not in use. The cashier was a little cold with us, but still cordial, so can't complain, just not very friendly. The dining area was very well ventilated with lots of ceiling fans, with many cute trinkets and a TV for entertainment purposes. The food was ok, kind of skimpy. I got 2 tostadas de carne asada with half rice and beans since they do not have a tostada plate available and my date had a chorizo and egg burrito. The tostadas were ok, the beans and rice were mediocre, the chorizo and egg burrito could have used more in it (just beans, eggs and chorizo). The bathroom smelled a little moldy or sewage-y. The seats were actually very comfortable considering they are wooden tables and chairs, NO BOOTHS. Also it is just a personal preference for me but if a place offers dine in then I believe they should have plates, cups and utensils for dine in. All the food was in bags and paper wrapping, as if it were to go. Overall, this place was not it for me unfortunately, which I was hoping it would be since I've heard many rave about it, but I can safely say without improvements I will not be returning. read more
