Very nice room, food is average, music is soooo loud you can mostly forget about talking to anyone at your table. We went on a Sunday for brunch and it was unbearably loud. Whether it was live mariachi (who were good) or prerecorded music, is was terrible. With that written, the people who worked there as hosts and wait staff were very nice. The bus staff less so, but they were working their butts off, so maybe have more wait staff. Would any of our party ever return? No, and they all said so. read more

The food was great, and the service was great, but unfortunately, the $30 bottomless mimosas for 1 1/2 hours felt like a complete scam. I ordered the bottomless mimosas at approximately 12:10 PM, and at 1:15 PM, I was told I was cut off because the system would no longer allow the waiter to reorder them since the time limit had supposedly been reached. The problem is, 1 1/2 hours from 12:10 PM is 1:40 PM, so I was cut off roughly 25 minutes before the advertised time limit. I understand having a time limit, but the time should be honored if you're charging customers $30 for it. I'm sitting here writing this review completely fine, so it's not as though there was any legitimate reason to cut me off early. I simply expected to receive what I paid for. It's really disappointing because the food and service were otherwise great. Hopefully management takes a closer look at how the bottomless mimosa policy is being handled so other customers aren't charged for time they don't actually receive. read more

Wish they would have given me an English menu. I know some Spanish, so it took me a while to figure out what was in the menu. Probably not gonna return any time soon. I'm not a big fan of the "Kalavera" type of restaurants, BUT after months of avoiding LADJ I was invited to go listen to their Mariachi. I am so glad I did. The mariachi was absolutely fantastic! The food was great ( the test for me is always the beans) Let me tell you the hand made tortillas LOVE them! So my first experience here wasn't the best--they accidentally forgot to submit the orders for two people in our party. But I'm so glad we decided to give them another chance! The service has improved so much. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always makes sure everything is taken care of. We've tried the ceviche, tacos, appetizers, and drinks, and everything has been delicious. We've been back several times now and love trying something new with each visit. The restaurant itself has such a fun, lively atmosphere with great music and even mariachi. Amores de Julia is a nice restaurant to come visit if you are craving some mexican food. This is considered a fancy restaurant so be prepared to pay 25 dollars for plates of food and 20 bucks per drink. The food does taste really good I got the enchiladas de lengua and loved them I will be back just for those. The drinks are good too but they kind of small for the price. This place is a hit or miss as far as the service sometimes you get a good server whos on top of things sometimes you will get a bad server who doesnt come check on you. Such a cute restaurant with great potential, however the service unfortunately did not meet expectations. First, we ordered drinks once, but our server did not return to check on us until the very end of our visit, so we never had the opportunity to order additional drinks. We were also not offered water at the table. I'm unsure if water must be requested, but in most restaurants complimentary water is typically provided, and it's a simple gesture that goes a long way. Additionally, we were seated at 2:35 PM and did not receive our food until around 3:30 PM. nearly an hour later. The food itself was good and we enjoyed it overall. The portions were okay, though if you're used to larger portion sizes, you may find them to be on the smaller side. Overall, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and a lot of potential, but the service and long wait time took away from the experience. We celebrated my brother's birthday at Los Amores de Julia on a Tuesday, and it was such a great experience! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everything came out fresh. I have to start off with saying that we had some of the best nachos I've ever had. The service was great, they have a menu for english and the location is wonderful. This place has become a new family favorite. We found this one day on our way home from LAX and we've gone back multiple times. The service can be slow at times and it feels as though sometimes they quickly walk by you to avoid you asking for help but luckily at this point we know exactly what to order to avoid asking for much else. Although the service can be slow, the waiters and waitresses are nice. The restaurant is clean and lively. We have gone several times where there is a mariachi or some type of music. They also do sing for your birthday and make you feel very special. The food is what honestly brings us back every time. Each person in my family has their go to meal and it's phenomenal. My only concern is that we notice for certain holidays or event events, the portions are small smaller however the price remains the same. We went for Father's Day, and we immediately noticed how much smaller each entrée was compared to our experiences in the past and our most recent visit. I brought my mother here for dinner on a Tuesday and the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. We waited several minutes before someone came to sit us. The inside was very cute and gave Tulum vibes. We ordered different dishes. My Gordinez plate tasted good at first, but halfway through I realized the meat was undercooked and still raw. I didn't notice at first because the seasoning was the same color as the raw meat. I informed the server and received no apology or concern. Instead, she bluntly asked, "What do you want me to do about it?" I asked for the food to be fully cooked and boxed to go, at that point I was over it. Between the slow service, being served raw food, and poor customer service, I would not recommend this place. read more

The restaurant was really nice with a great aesthetic, and overall we enjoyed the experience. The bar tacos were good, and my friend said the chilaquiles were really good as well. Our waiter, Eduardo, was great very attentive and friendly!! The only downside was the noise level. The mariachi band played here and there but it was so loud and it became difficult to have a conversation at the table. While the music added to the atmosphere, it was a bit overwhelming at times. Everybody was there to celebrate their birthday so every 45 min or so we kept hearing the dj crank up a songg!! And whistles and all types of things would happen around us . My drink was supposed to be served in a pig-shaped clay cup, but unfortunately it wasn't available. I did ask if a wooden chair could be brought over just so I could take a picture for my review, which would've been a nice touch. My second visit and really enjoyed it this time around. We came for Sunday brunch and they have live mariachi! I made a reservation and glad I did because the place was getting filled up fast. Lots of small and big parties. It can get quite loud when the mariachi is playing but it's all for setting the party/good mood vibes We ordered cafe de olla to start and it was HOT and just what we needed on this rainy day. We also got complimentary conchitas (Mexican sweet bread) which was a nice touch. The bread was soft too which was a plus. For our entrees we went with the green chicken pozole (you can also go with pork), carne en su jugo, and habanero chilaquiles. The pozole was very flavorful and loaded with chicken, a whole leg and thigh in the bowl and plenty of hominy. It was on the thicker side but flavors all there. The carne en su jugo was loaded with beans and meat and those crispy bacon bits added good texture. It came with 3 of the handmade tortillas which were fluffy and perfect. The habanero chilaquiles were not too spicy and came with an egg- you can add protein for an additional cost if you'd like. It's a great place for a birthday! They will come out with a bday sign , pump out some music, and all eyes on you. The food overall was good and everyone was in good spirits surrounded by all the celebrations. read more

We had a large party with a reservation and were seated right on time in a semi-secluded section, which was actually very nice. It felt private without being cut off from the rest of the restaurant -- probably the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. For reasons no one could explain, the staff completely forgot about me. Everyone at the table received their drinks -- except me. Everyone received their food -- except me. We had to ask multiple times, and I'm literally writing part of this review while sitting at the table watching everyone else eat. By the time my food finally came out (at 8 PM), some people had already finished their meals. We arrived at 6:40 PM. At that point, I didn't even want to eat anymore. They told us my food had been given to someone else -- which didn't make sense, because I never received that person's food either. Later we found out they never even put in the order for the person who supposedly got my food. Absolute chaos. Other service issues: * Some guests received butter with their lobster while others (who ordered the same thing) didn't * Service was wildly inconsistent across the table * Other guests in our party began complaining as well -- so it wasn't just me Management then added to the frustration by claiming the deposit for our reserved area hadn't been paid (it had) and saying we needed to be out by 8:15 PM -- even though food was still being served at 8. They also told us there was no time limit earlier, so this made no sense. To make things worse, another customer was yelling at our group because they also had a reservation and supposedly paid $500. That's not something guests should ever be dragged into -- this was clearly a management issue. Bathrooms were also unacceptable: * One toilet didn't flush * Another had no water * The urinal was full * The women's restroom was completely closed The music itself was good, but the volume was inconsistent and randomly loud. Overall, the food looked good when people finally got it, but the service, organization, and management were a mess. This place has potential, but until they get their operations together, I wouldn't recommend it -- especially for large parties. read more

One of the dishes ordered, "Codorniz "was apparently unavailable, and of course, waiter did not informed us/me, until the rest of the dishes were ready to be brought out to our table- 40mins later. Wtf! As pitty sympathy, waiter offered their menu for me to re-ordered another dish, I accepted, however, I felt the waiter breathing down my neck as to "hurry up and order". I asked the waiter for a min or two, waiter went for a lap, and 50 seconds later, he returned. I saw the waiter behind me with the corner of my left eye, feeling pressed for time, I did not order anything and my wife shared her chewy Casobarria tacos with me. Let me say, the worse Casobarria tacos I've ever tasted. I knew instantly, I would suffer from heart-burn, fuck! As everyone else was eating, there I am left waiting for heartburn to kick-in from Casobarria taco, and no real solution offered. I did seek management assistance, however, manager made it seem like it's a common thing for customers to complain for their lack of food service ethic. I would highly recommend the near by Chili's over this dumb called, Los Amores De Julia in Pico Rivera. Running out of an item can happen, especially during busy hours, but failing to communicate in a timely manner is unacceptable. Basic communication and attention to service would have made a huge difference here. read more

We came for breakfast and only a few customers were inside, and not busy at all. The waiter never asked for our drinks, and when he finally did ask it was as if he was bothered. When the drinks were brought he reached out his hand over my head to place the coffee on the table and didn't say anything. I had to wait another 20 minutes to get our order in. He was rude and not welcoming at all. Never checked on us. When I didn't get the check at the table I walked over to the cashier who had terrible tape ins and was a bit on the heavy side had a terrible attitude. This place is an experience. We decided to go for Sunday brunch before our daughter flew back home. I had wanted to try this place but had heard mixed reviews. I'm really glad I gave it a try. First of all, the space is gorgeous. It's really rare to have such a snazzy spot in the neighborhood, so I really appreciate it. It was quite lively (read: loud) but in a celebratory, fun way. Secondly, the service was very attentive and helpful. There are even table side preparations for a few of the items which is cool. The food is great. Like really good. I had the giant some, hubby had the pozole, daughter had the shrimp mole enchiladas (though the mole was negra and it said it was going to be another kind) and my son had the kids taco. The reason there's only 4 stars and not 5 are two reasons: 1. It's expensive. Like borderline too expensive for what you get. I get that we pay for the environment and the mariachis and the table side stuff, but it's rather steep. and 2. The pictures. There's a guy going around taking pictures at the table like at a resort or a cruise. And they try to sell you their ridiculously overpriced pictures before you leave. Well we had already exited the building and were chased down outside to try and sell them to us. I found that tacky. Besides that, a nice spot especially for a special occasion. read more

We came here to celebrate my aunts birthday with a party of 7, but unfortunately our experience was not the best. They did seat us quick but once seated it took long for any server to come to our table. I understand that being a big group sometimes things take longer but it just felt so disorganized like if no server was assigned to our table. We did order some appetizers one being the queso fresco. Once we recieved it, it only came with two tortillas keep in mind we were a party of 7. On the menu it does not mention what it comes with I honestly don't know what I was expecting but definetly not two tortillas. Or at least for the server to mention it to me since I later did place an order for more tortillas that took forever. Food was okay but it all arrived at different times, I know sometimes being a large party that can happen. Hopefully the service improves I feel like it has so much potential. I came here on July 10 and was impressed by the atmosphere. The menu is pretty small, so I decided to order tacos. Each plate was about $18 and came with 3 or 4 tacos. I tried the carne asada, fish tacos, and quesabirria. I was a little disappointed by how small the tacos were for the price. The quality also did not live up to the cost. There are taco stands that charge much less and have better flavor than all of the tacos I tried. The drinks were good and are probably the only reason I would come back. The service was just okay. I felt like since we did not order much, there was not much attention given to our table, even though the restaurant was not busy. I'll start with the good, which was our waitress. She was so wonderful and authentic and elevated our friend's birthday dinner with such a wonderful and kind service. The ambiance is good - well decorated, spacious tables, music not too loud (except when they blast Gasolina for someone's birthday). Clean bathrooms. The food was average. I personally had the enchiladas yucatecas, which came with two enchiladas and cochinito pibil. The cheese blend in my enchiladas had hardened into an odd, somewhat rubbery texture. It felt like they had been sitting under a warmer for a long time. The salsa for the enchiladas was very watery. The portion of cochinito pibil was small. I also tried the sopes with shredded beef - the beef was okay (needed more salt and seasoning) but the sopes were so oily. It's such a shame that the food did not match the restaurant. read more

We also ordered the rolled taquitos de papas with chicken but we didn't find chicken inside of the taquitos. These were just 3 stars at best! Some of their entrees do not come with rice and/or beans as you might expect most Mexican restaurants, which made the portions seem smaller than they already looked. The chicken mole was one of the few options that came with rice but the flavor of the molee was not great. This was my first and last time here. First off when the hostess sat us at our table she just put the menu down did not say your waitress will be right with you. No one came to help us not even for a drink order till 20 minutes later. The food is ok nothing worth dealing with the bad service. Also the AC was not on it was so hot in there it would have been better off eating outside to catch a little breeze. The hostess where fanning themselves with the menu so that tell you how hot it was in there. I've been here a few times now on different occasions, including when the mariachi is playing. Overall, I'd say it's a cute place with potential, but there are several things that keep the experience from fully matching the price point. On the positive side, I do really like the queso fundido and the esquite, and the restaurant itself has a fun atmosphere and a nice setup. The outdoor patio is nice although open during the week, which was disappointing since it would have created some distance from the noise inside the restaurant. When the mariachi is there, it is EXTREMELY loud. It's not background ambiance at all. It completely takes over the restaurant and makes it very difficult to have a conversation at your table. If you're hoping for a more relaxed dinner experience, keep that in mind. Another thing that detracted from the experience for me was the photographers going table-to-table offering photos for purchase. Some people may enjoy it, but I personally find it intrusive and annoying while trying to talk with friends. Also worth noting: there's a 3% surcharge added to the bill that is separate from gratuity, which felt unnecessary given the already high menu prices. The menu is entirely in Spanish. That wasn't an issue for me personally, but several people in my group don't speak Spanish and had difficulty ordering, so it's something to be aware of. Service also seemed stretched thin. It was difficult to get a waiter's attention, and even simple things like getting salt and pepper took a while since they aren't kept on the tables. Unfortunately, my food needed seasoning. Overall, not a terrible experience, but for the cost there were enough inconveniences that I'd probably choose other Mexican restaurants nearby first. read more

I had been looking forward to trying this place for a long time, but unfortunately it was huge disappointment , my excitement ended the moment we walked in. We asked for a booth and were told they don't accommodate booths for parties of two. That would've been fine--except on the way to our table, we saw multiple booths occupied by only two people. When I asked our server about it, she simply said, "I don't know," which was frustrating and unhelpful. The menu is crammed onto one page and difficult to read, especially with the dim lighting. As for drinks, I ordered a watermelon margarita, but it both looked and tasted like strawberry. When I brought it up, the server confirmed it was watermelon--but it clearly wasn't. My friend ordered a pineapple margarita, and it also didn't taste like pineapple at all. For food, we both ordered the chicken mole. It tasted very canned, and the chicken itself was bland, as if it hadn't been cooked in the mole sauce. The rice was dry and lacked flavor. On top of that, the tables are placed so close together that it makes the whole experience uncomfortable. Overall, I do not recommend this place. read more
