Food is great. If you want some great Mexican food you need to stop by and enjoy some tacos or burritos.

El Super Taco has "Super" in the name, but unfortunately, that's about it these days. My family and I have been going to this establishment for nearly 35 years -- spanning four generations. The restaurant itself has barely changed over the decades, which honestly never bothered me. What has bothered me is that in all those years, not once have I or my family ever truly felt welcomed there. No greeting. No acknowledgment. No appreciation. I tried not to let that stop me from supporting a small business, because as a small business owner myself, I understand how hard it is to survive and keep a business going. The day before Mother's Day, we stopped by to pick up food for my mother-in-law, who enjoys their soft carne asada tacos. When we walked in, Juventino was sitting on the bench. There was only one customer ahead of us. After that customer ordered, an employee handed another person a pickup order with what seemed like a forced smile -- but at least it was a smile. Then she answered the phone. We stood there for at least five minutes with absolutely no acknowledgment. Nothing. Finally, while the employee was still on the phone, I turned and said hello to Juventino. Only then were we acknowledged, and he smiled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's amazing how something as simple as a smile or acknowledgment can completely change the atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When it was finally our turn, we ordered food for three people. Once our order was ready, Mia asked if I wanted salsa. I politely asked if it was possible to get four green salsas and one red salsa. Honestly, I fully expected her to tell me if there was an extra charge for additional salsa, and I was completely willing to pay for it. I also did not see any signs posted stating there would be an extra charge. Instead, she looked at me, walked to the kitchen, and handed me the order without saying anything, which naturally made me believe everything was included. To be clear, this was never about the money. I had already paid extra for two small guacamoles at $1.50 each because I wanted us to enjoy the meal. Had I been told that additional salsa cost extra, I would have gladly paid for it as well. When we arrived at my mother-in-law's house, the salsa order was wrong. Maybe to some people that sounds minor, but after years of feeling unwelcome, it honestly made me sad, frustrated, and unimportant as a customer. I called the restaurant, and Mia said she "didn't hear me." Then she handed the phone to her mother, who immediately told me that I had been rude and that her daughter was "a little girl" and that I had scared her. Her daughter is not a little girl. At some point, we need to stop making excuses for younger generations who lack basic customer service skills such as smiling, acknowledging customers, and saying "please" and "thank you." I will say that she did look presentable and professional in appearance, but kindness and hospitality matter just as much. What's disappointing is that there now appear to be three generations working there, yet no one ever seems happy to be there. No smiles. No warmth. No appreciation toward customers. The food is okay -- sometimes even good -- but never truly great. What keeps people loyal for decades is not just food. It's how you make people feel. Mr. Juventino, please take care of your employees. If they are unhappy, customers feel it immediately. There are many people who would be grateful to have a job and treat customers with kindness and appreciation. - SPANISH: Sr. Juventino, por favor cuide a sus empleados. Lastly, I do not remember the name of the last person I spoke with on the phone, but her final response to me was, "Go ahead and write a bad review," before hanging up on me. I truly wish your business continued success, but after nearly 35 years of support, I do not plan to return. We all need to learn from our mistakes -- myself included. This is actually the first negative review I have ever written, because I usually try to give people grace and understanding, especially as a fellow small business owner. What made this difficult is that this feeling did not come from just one bad day. It came from decades of feeling unwelcome and unappreciated as a customer, and unfortunately, this experience became the final straw that broke the camel's back. Horrible experience here. Ordered 5 tacos and most of the meat had fat in it. To make matters worse the table I was sitting at all of a sudden a roach walked across. I was disgusted and in disbelief. I immediately took my food back and explained that there was a roach on my table and the lady told me they were aware and getting the place fumigated soon. Like wth!! Who runs a business like this and thinks it's ok? I said I wanted my refund and she began to argue that the roach wasn't in my food. I left food and left the place. Never again!! I think her name was Maria. You've been warned!! The first red flag was the smell when you first walk in. You can smell like a mixture of food and Raid spray for roaches. It smells awful. Been coming here for awhile taco's are great, but ordered the taquito plate for me and my wife and it was not good at all. there was no guacamole on it and wet lettuce mix with whatever, and the rice and beans was a small portion and a little over price it was horrible. I've had better at juans great fiesta same price but more portions. how sad what a rip off. read more

FYI!!! So they have all the meats cooked and put it in a plastic container. When ordered they use their lil press machine (sorta like an air fryer) to warm the food and then serve it. Restaurants need to stop trying to stretch the life of their food/meats - when it's bad, dry or burnt, it's time to dump vs using it for take out/to go orders. You should always think that the person ordering your food is starving and can't wait to bite into one of your items - mine was a burrito. The carne asada tasted like burnt ends, but in a bad way - charcoal! I thought, maybe it's just in a few spots, but it was all the way through from the first bite to the last. Yes, I ate the whole thing! And yes, I was starving! I now am walking around with the taste of those pieces of carne asada that fall through the grill at your outdoor/park party - not what I should be served from a long-time establishment. I like your food, but this is now the second time this has happened to me when ordering take out. I want to keep bragging about my good experiences, but I can't if the bad ones continue to mount up. The food was very fresh and had a home made taste to it, really good. My hubby and I truly enjoyed it. The price wasn't bad at all either. Found this shop close by and decided to give it a try. Typical mom and pa shop and I am truly glad I tried this place! The girl at the cashier was super friendly and helpful answering all my questions as it was my first time. They had a special for $5.95 for 3 soft tacos and a drink which I thought was a good deal. Ordered 3 Al pastor and they were delicious. Good amount of meat and the sauce had a kick to it. Plenty of space inside, on the darker side but wasn't too busy when I went. Don't mind paying $15 for a good burrito if its good and they get it right, OMG! I bought a chile verde burrito with cheese and chicharrone. It was not worth it.. Beans had no flavor. Legit Pico spot. Good prices, with tasty burritos, tacos, nachos, etc. They are kind of known for their gorditas if thats your thing. I enjoy the burritos especially the bean and cheese variety. The beans they cook are delicious. The tacos are good and they add guacamole which is a nice bonus. My only complaint is the onions. They do a rough chop with large pieces of onion kinda over powers the food. The staff are nice and helpful with usually all ladies cooking in the kitchen. read more

The attention to detail when this place is making orders is amazing! The salsa is freshly made and so are the sopes, gorditas, carnitas, frijoles, arroz and i could go on about everything in their menu. This place has a good clientele of regulars, some regulars who have come since they were kids. This restaurant is up to standards and it's safe to assume that with the amount of locals I bump into and the new faces that come by from far or locals just finding out about this spot! Whom they happily welcome and go the extra mile to make their experience the best it can be. They keep up with cleaning regularly and from what i've seen during their closing shift they leave it all spotless which is reassuring! Makes me want to come back knowing they keep things clean and tidy during and after shift. Super hard working ladies! Seen a guy trying to scam some of the workers with a fake deal on a credit card machine and I figured i'd point out the review about him having a horrible experience and finding insects on his food is absolutely ridiculous. Greasy, crusty, cheap but delicious Mexican food, right up my alley. Everything is priced as if it's 1998 - tacos are about a buck each, combos (taped onto the wall) are around $4-5 mark and comes w/a drink(!) There's also a neogeo machine(!!!)(which, I played after my meal) Not the cleanest place in the world but the kitchen itself is neat, organized, and open for viewing. The pastor tacos were good but I'd prolly get more of the asada next time - it came with a healthy dollop of citrusy, guac salsa that was fresh and provided a nice, acidic lift. Food: WOW!!! what a hidden gem in Pico Rivera! I been living here for 30yrs and I have never been here. I am so happy my grandma was requesting a chicken Gordita. I looked it up and they came up.
