Second time coming here and as a local from Whittier I'll be honest, I was skeptical at first. The Downey location didn't live up to the hype for me, felt like it was more about the banda vibe than the food. But this spot changed that. The tostada mixta had really solid savory flavor and the tacos sinaloense were on point. Definitely worth it if you're looking for both good food and a good vibe. Ambience was nice, good energy overall. Just heads up, parking can be rough. You can try Main Street or the lot if you get lucky. There is usually a waitlist too. Overall, I'll be coming back and can see this becoming a regular spot. read more

It had been a couple years since I had eaten at Mariscos Choix. Let me tell you the food is so much better than I remember. We ordered aguachile in salsa negra 10/10 definitely going back for that. The ceviche mitotero 8/10 it was good but for my liking I wish it had more callo de hacha. The last thing we ordered was the Arqui Roll it was fire 10/10. They have a lot of seafood on the menu but the menu in Spanish if your want English you would have to scan a QR on the condiments tray. I finally got to try Mariscos Choix after much hype from my coworkers, and it was absolutely as good as everyone said it was. Customer service and food were excellent. I couldn't ask for a better dinner experience. I arrived at the restaurant around 7pm on a Wednesday. The restaurant had its own small private lot, and I was lucky enough to snag the last parking spot at the time. The restaurant was much smaller than I expected since it looked so much bigger from the outside. That said, it looked like they also had an outdoor patio with additional seats. I had the pleasure of interacting with two servers that evening. The gentleman, whose name escapes me now, was the nicest guy! He was so personable and such a delight to talk to. Liliana ended up being my primary server, and she was just as friendly and helpful. I felt like they both went above and beyond to ensure I was enjoying my meal and overall experience. Mariscos Choix' menu was huge, which was a bit overwhelming for me. They had lots of items to choose from e.g. ceviches, tacos, sushi, etc. Lili helped me through the menu, and per her recommendation I got the aguachile mixto with rojo sauce. This aguachile was insanely delicious. It was flavorful, and the spice packed a punch. The avocado was an add-on, but for only $2.99 they gave me the entire avocado. What a steal! What made the aguachile a mix was in the two ways the shrimp was prepared - with water and with lime. Some of the shrimp had a firmer texture of being cooked all the way through while the ones made with lime were on the rawer side. I knew by the picture that this plate was going to be big, but I thought to myself, "It's mainly shrimp. I can eat this all no problem." I was stuffed 3/4's of the way through and couldn't finish my meal. Last but not least, I loved their tostadas. Extra crunchy and had a rough masa texture that I liked. We stumbled into this restaurant as we were craving seafood. The host greeted us and we were promptly seated. It was our first time and our waitress gave us options and recommendations. Our meal came with complimentary tostadas and salsa. The shrimp ceviche wasn't too limey and it had a nice kick to it. The taco de pulpa was good, the taco shell was taco dorados and l the cream sauce balanced the seasoning on the octopus. The Baja shrimp taco was good. The shrimp and batter were light and crunchy, it had the right amount of seasoning. The bread pudding was my favorite, perhaps it was because it was drenched condense milk base but I enjoyed it. we're happy we found this place and def recommend it. read more

It was our first time coming here to the Pico Rivera location. The food came out incredible. It was delicious and great services even though we came 30 minutes before they closed. They still managed to take care of us without rushing us. You can't compare that if you go to other restaurants 30 minutes they're rushing to close, even though we start a bit later they're still managed to take care of us and treat us with respect. Without rushing it us out even though they were closing, you could tell the staff was one that wanted to go, but we managed to not prolong to stay.
