What an unbelievably rude and uncaring person at the checkout counter. Further they try and charge you more than the prices advertised on the plants .The person at the counter attempted to overcharge me 50% on a $60 order. When I said she had the wrong price, she didn't care and said there was nothing she could do. I had to go outside to where the plants were and take photos of the price before she begrudgingly charged me the correct price. If you like being overcharged and waited on by rude, clueless people, this is the place for you. I had been a customer for the past year, but no longer. There is another nursery within a mile that has much more competent and friendly staff, not to mention better prices. read more

How on earth did I find this amazing gem! The people are super nice and extremely knowledgable. So organized and well maintained. All the plants are very well priced and competitive against your "big boy" stores. But here you get the rare stuff you can't get there. We have been been buying our plants, fertilizer, soil, pots and many gift items at Mariposa since the late 1990's. We have spent thousands of dollars over the past 20 years and we have been extremely pleased with everything until recently. We purchased a dozen small floral plants about a month ago, and 6 of them are thriving, however, the other six are dead. My husband went to the nursery today to see if the six dead plants could be replaced and he was told "absolutely not, that's our policy". He mentioned how long we have been patronizing their business and asked if there was any flexibility since we didn't want a refund, just a replacement for the plants that didn't make it. He was again told NO, that's the policy. We are extremely disappointed in their customer service. My husband went to to several other nurseries this afternoon shopping for plants and inquired about their policies and was told by these other retailers that they will stand behind their products. Shame on you, Mariposa! We live in a brand new neighborhood in Lakewood ranch, my husband does gardening for more that a dozen of our neighbors and you can be sure we will let them know about your lack of customer service and we will steer our friends and neighbors to other nurseries. read more

Even driving 17 miles to get there, I was looking forward to visiting Mariposa nursery last Wednesday, 6/3/20, not only find some different types of perennials, but also to get some expertise/advice from professionals as opposed to a Home Depot or Walmart plumbing or kitchen employee they plop into their garden center. Unfortunately, I was deeply mistaken and received extraordinarily terrible customer service. After milling about their plants, I was looking for someone to help me. There was one employee, but she was sitting at a table writing things down. There were social distancing signs around her so I went on looking around, wasting time, hoping she would eventually come out or another employee would show up. After a bit of time, I walked up to the signs she was behind and asked if I may ask her some questions. She looked at me somewhat annoyed, hemmed & hawed and was very nervous. Since that made me nervous, I politely asked, "Ok, may I ask you just one question then?" She got up begrudgingly and said "OK" but it was obvious I was bothering her. I said, "Could you just tell me what kind of bush is in the back there?" She didn't know which bush I was referring to and as I was trying to show her, she says, "I'm never going to get my work done." I mean, what was I supposed to do? I was SO shocked to get this kind of response. I don't even get that from Home Depot or Walmart! When I go to a specialty shop like in this case, a nursery or if I go to a local electronic store or a local bike shop instead of a big box store, I not only hope for, but expect excellent customer service, as I'm assuming that's why I'm paying more than double, sometimes triple the price. Most of the time, they know that with their expertise, they are developing a long-term relationship with a new customer who will come back time after time when they are treated with kindness. We have been purchasing our palms, shrubs, and plants here for years and have never been disappointed. Mariposa Nursery handles an extensive variety of healthy plants and all of the staff is knowledgeable and accommodating. Last weekend we purchased six 25 gallon Japanese Blueberry Shrubs for a privacy hedge. Lee and his assistant came Wednesday and did a fabulous job planting these. Lee was pleasant, professional and offered advice on caring for these shrubs. Every aspect of our encounter, from viewing, to purchasing, to planting was exceptional. I have never seen as extensive and beautiful a nursery, with such a wide selection, and such surprisingly low prices. Vicki waited on us and did a remarkable job! Nicest most helpful people. Almost overwhelming variety of plants, bushes, trees, pottery, etc. Prices seemed reasonable. Easily accessible from I-75 and SR 70 via Lorraine Rd. We ended up buying a gorgeous Bismarck Palm and they arranged for delivery and planting. read more
