Very dishonorable. Did not honor my gift card. I got a gift card for 150$ last Christmas. I dined once and spent around 85$. Two months ago i went in to dine, they declined to honor it saying their system was down. Ericka the waitress took a picture of my gift card and phone number and promised to call back with validity and value of the card. 2 weeks later I called her and she said the manager is not in and will get back. 2 more weeks later I called and she said Manager works only weekends and will get back to me. 2 more weeks, I called and she said they are checking the transaction on my card. Finally I went in last Friday and stood by the front counter asking same questions on the value of the card. After 15 minutes 'Anthony' the manager comes on the line and says he is checking the transactions on the card. I told him I had enough BS and am reporting to Better Business Bureau. We came here for lunch it was good but VERY EXPENSIVE. They give you a little basket of tortilla chips and two little bowls of salsa free while you decide what to order. My issue was when we asked for a second basket of chips the waitress just brought it to us. Note she never said oh by the way the second basket will cost you. When we got our bill we were charged for the chips. It's question the matter the waitress seemed to ignore my complaint and said there's nothing he can do. We were in the area for the Salem Ironman and ordered some take out before we got to our hotel. We put in our usual order that we have for Nayarit style places. Langostinos, fish ceviche. And shrimp empanadas. What we ordered was good, and we really enjoyed it after our road trip up from Sacramento. The masa from the shrimp empanadas were a bit thicker than we're used to, but the flavor was there. The tostadas they served with the ceviche tasted like they were fried up in pork lard and thin, for me it was not an issue, but it could be for those that don't want to eat pork. The tostadas were Jalisco style, I believe. The area where the restaurant is located in has seen better days, but the food was good, flavorful and filling. Make sure you check for limes and that they give you that green salsa they make. You don't want to miss out on that. Goes really well with their food. read more

I love good Mexican food and have a few regular haunts. I was traveling on business and saw a restaurant in a strip mall and decided it was dinner time. They weren't busy since it was about 8 PM on a Thursday. I was seated and immediately brought the usual chips and salsa. Much to my delight, I was also given a bowl of limes and a bowl of crab ceviche. I'm not normally a ceviche fan, but this was SO good. When my food came, I was already getting full. I had carne asada with corn tortillas - five of them! It was also really good and came with the normal beans and rice, plus a grilled jalapeno and small onion. It also came with enough guacamole to constitute a paid side in most restaurants. I had horchata to drink and it tasted homemade and came with free refills. My sole disappointment is that I live hundreds of miles from here! I do know when I come back to Salem, OR, I have a new place to eat. My parents went here with my cousins after a rodeo near by. My mother asked for water for she was thirsty obviously and did not want to drink anything else. The server said "We don't have any water left. We are out of water". What?! Since when does tap water run out? My mom is a very understanding person and of course did not want to question the server but if these are the type of servers you have, I suggest you either train them better or get a better water system because telling someone your out of water is unacceptable. *I'm now aware that there was an issue with the Salem water system, however it is still unacceptable that that server did not explain the situation to my mom. read more

The staff ignores you on purpose, they disrespect you and they don't care because they just work there and don't own the place. I'm not one to leave a bad review but I really feel like this restaurant needs to fix itself! I used to come here all the time. I got a few errors every now and then but from the experience we got the last 3 times I went, I don't think I'll be going back. The food lacks flavor and the plates are not as good as they used to be. We ordered ceviche that was very undercooked with no flavor. The Camarones Zarandeados used to be my favorite but now they just taste like shrimp and no other flavor just solid shrimp. The service isn't good prices are too expensive for what they're cooking you. I wouldn't recommend coming here and eating your money on food that doesn't taste good. read more

We first noticed this place yesterday, Mother's Day, we happened to drive by and saw a huge line of Hispanic families out front waiting to get in. That put it onto our radar that it must be good. Today, we were driving through Salem and wanted dinner, so we remembered this place and thought we'd give it a shot. Glad we did, it was excellent! The menu is large and kind of confusing, but our server was really great about explaining stuff and answering our many questions. The cuisine is from Nayarit, on the SW coast of Mexico, and very seafood centric. There is a page of the menu devoted to beef and chicken dishes, but it seems like the seafood is the reason to go here. There are many types of ceviche on the menu, and a selection of shrimp and octopus coctails. Everything looked really good. After much debate, we ordered 2 main dishes, the Mocajete, kind of a spicy Mexican version of Cioppino with lots of seafood, and another special, a foil-wrapped tilapia fillet, the name of which escapes me at the moment. While waiting for dinner, we munched on chips and 2 kinds of salsa, one a very smoky, spicy red, the other a crisp, crunchy mild salsa with a bit of crab meat. Both were very good. The Mocajete was fabulous! A huge earthenware bowl bursting with crab legs, shrimp, mussels, scallops, fish fillets and octopus in a spicy broth. The foil-wrapped fillet was excellent as well, though much milder, with onions, mushrooms and peppers, a bit of cheese and a light sauce over the fillet. Very flavorful, and the veggies were still crunchy and not overcooked. Both portions were enormous, we took over half of each home, even after stuffing ourselves completely. The food was not cheap, entrees ranging from about $15-$25, but the quality and portions were well worth it. read more

The sauce was tasty but at the price, it would have been nice to have tender shrimp. My husband's fish was also a bit overcooked but again, with a delicious sauce. The beans didn't even taste like beans. But like I said, the main courses were good. I ordered of the house specials menu, my partner got the fajitas. However, we could have used more veggies with our food. Some lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole would have been nice to go with his fajitas.
