Okay. Honest review because I tend to judge when I read a white woman named "Shelly" telling me that the pescado wasn't fresh. My instant thought is "you don't have taste" I gotta say this Mexican seafood restaurant is either on or it's off . Both times I've been it's been phenomenal tasting. It's in my opinion - which I feel like can be pretty considering on the money considering that I Mexican seafood quite often (2-5 times a month) . First time - went off without a hitch . I remember starting the night there getting ceviche, oysters, fish tacos, a molcajete and finishing off with many drinks. Service was lacking though - we were the only table in the restaurant since we went to puerto on a deep sea fishing trip and they're wasn't any urgency to fill water (compared to normal dining in the states) and the place is about the size of a living room . Gripe aside i rate first experience 7.1/10 Second time was way better than the first, food some how was better, service was better, ordered almost the same spread on summer break of 25 . The server at Mariscos El Malecon brought out "garnish" with the food that we ordered (lettuce, tomato, onion) . It was an awesome gesture and super kind, however I forgot that they most likely used their own water to wash it and I got sicker than a dog the rest of the trip. That was my fault. But also this is the specific example of the thing I want the person preparing my food to think about because about the only goal for as an American when eating in puerto peñasco is to find a decent/substantive meal & avoiding 5 days of your stomach inverting . Final verdict 3.5/5 stars Because this place has such good food and the ambiance is perfect (quaint but lively , scenic overview of the water, homey) - I will roll the dice once more but probably not a wise decision. This place has great ocean views, located on the malecon. I've been here numerous times with different groups and it's a hit or miss with drinks, food and service. The only consistent thing is the view The food is all seafood/ mariscos .. I usually go with the ceviche tostadas or cocktail because it's the most basic and common food for the area. It's always fresh and the flavor is good. I've had the fried fish and it's also pretty consistently good, ask for lots of limes The drinks are sometimes all sugar with barely any alcohol. The bacon wrapped shrimp is usually overdone, rice is often dry or overcooked, the fries sometimes look and taste like they've been under a heat lamp. On this last visit I was told the chipotle sauce for the bacon wrapped shrimp was too sweet, almost like cough syrup. I passed on the opportunity to try it. With all that said .. I'll likely be back because sometimes you get lucky and it's all great!! read more

We drove past all these places a number of times during our visit. There was a parking space right in front of this and we took it. Our waiter, Jesse, was very service oriented and took excellent care of us. The guacamole was fabulous, the chips were stale. They were out of most of the beer my partner wanted, and I had a really weak Cadillac margarita on the rocks. I had battered shrimp, (what can go wrong with that,) and excellent fresh steamed vegetables. My partner had chicken chimichangas that were filled with rice. Good sauce, but nothing to write home about. The shocker was when our waiter told us the same owner also owned Mare Blu where we ate last night. The two stars are really for our waiter & the view. Francisco made our experience so enjoyable he was very attentive to our needs and us being more than happy with everything. I highly suggest sitting and requesting him. We had the shrimp ceviche AMAZING but we also had a dozen oysters but felt those were kinda gritty. We also had the whole fish which my friend really enjoyed. Our drinks were very good. We left feeling like we got scammed. I asked for a small side of fries instead of the veggies that came with my coconut shrimp, the waiter told me it would be "a small up charge". We got the bill and he charged us $8 for a small side of lukewarm soggy fries. Everything was over priced and underwhelming. read more

We were a party of 9. Quickly greeted and given a table for our group. Venue was at 25% capacity. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp basket and I got the shrimp tacos. The shrimp were completely over cooked and oily. My gf's shrimp and fries were even worse. To the point where she could not eat it. The fries were drenched in oil. The seasoning was non existent. Pina colada had cinnamon in it? Who does this?! On to the venue. I went to the restroom and became confused due to the poor signage. Somehow, I ended up in the kitchen. There was at least 8 people there. I was stunned because it had already been 30 minutes and our basic food orders were nowhere near ready. I then observed kitchen staff dump some type of liquid over the railing and onto the beach. Who does this? I knew we had made a bad decision then. Will never visit this establishment again and certainly would never recommend. Don't even wish my worst enemy to eat here. read more

We love Puerto Peñasco and have been going for the past 10 years. I can tell you, Mariscos El Malecón is one of the best spots in the city! Beer, Margaritas, Fresh (Fresh out of the ocean) seafood, and great views! One of the only restaurants with sports TVs. You can catch all soccer or football. It's a good time with friends and family. I'll make this soft and sweet.... the whole experience was terrible including the continued experience we have 3 days later. They haggle you to go eat, but we were Hungry for breakfast so we all made our way up the stairs. The waiter was extremely rude and they didn't have certain things, but then they did.... it was weird. Then after you get the check he wouldn't split it between 3 people.... I broke it down for us and he was charging us a extra 10 bucks. I called him out and he's like "oh taxes".... needless to say he didn't get a tip because he himself inflated the price to get himself one. (KEEP A EYE ON THAT). The worst part of the experience is we all ate one thing.... potatoes there.... and guess what we all got?! Food poisoning. This is the only place we all ate and writhing 6 hrs I was already nauseas and throwing up. There was 6 people in our group and the 4 hr ride home sucked for us all... stomach cramping, nausea, and uncontrollable urges to spend 15 min sitting on the porcelain throne..... Gosh where should I start. I do not recommend even having a drink here. Food: We ordered 12 entrees and it took over an hour just for them to bring out 3 of the 12 entrees. My grandma started eating the omelette she ordered and cooked in the center of her omelette was a cockroach. That tells you how dirty the kitchen and staff are. We told the manager we did not want the rest of the entrees and we did not want to pay for them. She would not allow it and made us pay for all entrees and only removed the one with the roach. Service: Terrible service and they take FOREVER to give you your drinks and food. The restaurant is upstairs and the kitchen is nowhere close so anytime you ask for anything they have to hike for it. The server said the utensils he went to get them at a different restaurant. And when we finally got our drinks they kept bringing the wrong ones. read more

After venturing off and trying something other then Flavio's once arriving to Rocky Point like my family and I always do, we thought this place would be a good alterative. Sadly mistaken. I will give Mariscos El Malecon this...it was good last summer ('17) when we first tried this restaurant out which is why we decided to return this year. The food is still good but I have no clue when the service went downhill between last May and this May but my god is it a train wreck. The drink order was the first sign for us to determine that we should probably just pay for drinks and then leave elsewhere for lunch. But we figured we weren't in a hurry and we would just wait it out. I kid you not, it took our server over 5 times coming back between our table and the bar to get our drinks, not to mention he still screwed it up and couldn't figure out or remember who ordered what. After maybe a solid 20, we got our drinks and waited another 15 before he came back to take our food order. No chips and salsa, no order put in. It only got worse from there. We watched the lady at the bar making the lemonade put the mixing spoon in her mouth and back into lemonades she was making and serving to customers more than once. No one at our table touched their lemonade after seeing that. Our order took over an hour to come out, everyone got their food separately, a few people got the wrong order. It was a DISASTER and the server was a nightmare. He could not for the life of him figure out who ordered what. A few of us ordered shrimp cocktail and the server disappeared so we were never able to ask him for tostadas or crackers to go with it (which always comes with the order to begin with). By the end of the meal, we were charged for food and drinks we did not order, had the bartender come up to our table and deny the fact that she had literally sucked on the spoon she was using to make lemonade with, and had the server blame the cooks for the wrong orders and amount of time it took for our food to come out. The bill was straightened out after a good fight with someone who claimed to be a manager and we got out of there. We will never return and I would not recommend you try this place either unless you don't mind shitty service and possible tooth decay residue in any drink you order that requires mixing. I can only imagine what the cooks do if the bartender openly did that in front of us! Overpriced, shit service, & most definitely unsanitary. read more

Mariscos was our 3rd stop in our (my) quest for the bar/restaurants offering free breakfast with drink promotions. Sadly, it came in last, out of the three. The other two were Lucky's Cantina and Iguana Banana. I didn't actually have the free breakfast because the chorizo and chilorio were unavailable. I was offered sausage and bacon, but I was in Mexico, and well, I wanted a Mexican breakfast. Partner had eggs with green chile and red chile, beans and potatoes, and of course, tortillas. He said the food was acceptable, although the presentation didn't look REAL appetizing. Check was $15. Meh. The one notable thing about this visit was that our check was presented to us by our waiter almost too promptly, like, within 3 minutes after he removed the breakfast plate. It's almost normal to do this in the U.S., but out of the at least 100 times (I'm sure, way more) we've eaten out in PP/RP, that was the first time we'd ever gotten the "bum's rush". Typically, Mexican dining is leisurely, and you almost have to beg for the check. It's turned into a private joke between us now. Now, if we sense something wrong, one of us will say, "get out!" Or "kitchen closed!". I'll stay with 4 stars for these guys. Maybe the staff was having a bad day. The view and the ambience are still very above average, and this particular meal wasn't bad, just not pret-ty. read more

Definitely not the best! Maybe a great place for party, drinks and fun but not for dining. The place is dirty, they don't disinfect! Thankfully I carry Clorox wipes with me due to my kids and was able to wipe down the table and high chair for my child and the wipes used were left black! We ordered green aguachiles which has no taste or flavor, it was literally water with green tomato. The limes were dry and hard. We also ordered some asada and chicken tacos and the meat was cold as were the tortillas. For drinks we got some bottled cokes and lemonades and the lemonades had food crumbs and the cups were not cleaned properly we didn't even drink them! Definitely not worth the $2000 pesos!! Only nice thing was the view, period!! Will definitely not go here again! read more

The food was average, tasted like any other mariscos restaurant. I thought it would taste above average but it didn't. The staff was not great. They took a long time to serve our food and refill drinks. They weren't busy either. Our waiter was constantly leaving the restaurant and going to the street to get more people to come and eat at the restaurant, this caused negligence towards current customers sitting and waiting to get ketchup and serve us refills etc. Our party left a very small tip, which I personally wouldn't have left anything at all and the waiter returned the tip saying he didn't need it. As if he deserved better! I sure did take it back and said thank you. Clearly you don't need it. He needs to be taught how to treat people. Other staff was about the same. It took a long time to get served and when we did, there was a COCKROACH in the food. After speaking to the manager she said that she would not charge us for the plate bit would still charge for the rest of the order even though it hadn't been served. At the end we where counting our money to tip waiter but before we put our tip down he complained thinking that we were living withought tipping. We went down stairs to leave, out of curiosity I searched for the kitchen to see if it was under the restaurant but It wasnt. I didn't see a kitchen belonging to the restaurant nearby. I went here for dinner and tried to pay with a credit card. The waiter told me the terminal was not working. He asked me to pay in cash. I paid in cash. I later looked at my credit card statement and I was billed for the meal. I tried to dispute and this charge but the customer told the credit card company that I did not pay. I was robbed to my face at this restaurant. I want to warn anyone one that may consider this place as an option for food. Go to one of the many other places that surround this place and make sure this thieves go out of business. read more

Love, love this place!! We stop here every single time we are in RP! The food is always delicious and the service is flawless. One of our favorite dishes is the steamed fish in a foil bag. The margaritas are always very tasty too. I will say that the chips and salsa are somewhat lacking.... But considering it is right in the bay with an incredible view, the prices are low and everything else they have to offer... We have no complaints and will still make this our first stop when visiting. read more
