Our friend mentioned that the legend says that three shots are needed to be closer to the aztec gods and bought us another one. We ended up eating delicious pork tacos and agua chile. After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.

We visited Cheeky Monkey for $1 Margaritas and to watch the sun set before we went to dinner. The menu consists mostly of casual bar food, salads, seafood and pasta dishes, sandwiches, and pizza (think Chili's in the U.S.) so I wouldn't come here for the food. We ordered the fried zucchini sticks and onion rings and they were fine, but you can tell the menu is geared towards American tourists. I believe I paid less than $30 for two appetizers and 12 margaritas - awesome deal!!!
