I'm so glad we tried this one because it ended up being perfect! It's beautiful inside, especially the bar area. We sat in there because even though they don't have a dress code, we felt too underdressed and were more comfortable sitting at the bar. Right off the bat, the service was excellent. The hostess was super sweet and accommodating, and shortly after we sat, we were greeted by the owner. Above and beyond! He thanked us for coming and left us to our meal. We had: -Raw oysters: a mixed bunch of deliciousness! -Shrimp scampi: packed with shrimp! So much so that I couldn't finish the dish and had to take the rest home. Very tasty, and has a creole flare to it that sets it apart from your typical scampi dish. -Dessert: faced with the choice of vanilla OR chocolate crème brûlée, we dared to be different and it was a fabulous choice. The mint with the chocolate was a marvelous touch. -Drinks: I had a French 75 and my mom had a different 75 that I'm blanking on the name of. Both were fantastic! The bartenders were both awesome and they truly take pride in their creations. The owner came back around to check on us, and while we ate, we had noticed him giving what looked like tours to other patrons. We asked about some of the history and he was more than happy to share with us. Very interesting and an added bonus to our visit! All around, I had a wonderful birthday dinner and highly recommend this place to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

The food wasn't as good as it could have been in my opinion for the price. The service was okay. The place not as grand as I had expected from hearing people talk about it. I should have just went to Longview for a better anniversary meal with the wife.

Lots of mainly fried fish options, with a few grilled available as well. Fried Catfish! Wonderful proper crisp but light crust on a best ever thick filet light steamed with great flaky large filets. Shrimp really good and sides and gumbo are just right. Parking looked full but plenty of table space still available inside. They are known for very prompt service and food, so they apologized when it was going to take 10 minutes as they had just turned in orders for 2 parties of a dozen. Prices are quite reasonable, getting homemade quality for just about a dollar over commercial chains, with plenty of food on the plate. Unsweet tea was just brewed and better taste than you would expect... Worth the extra short drive around town to get there, and quite fine staff as well. Try it, you'll like it.

Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. It took over an hour for us to receive our food. We ordered shrimp and grits and two shrimp and fish platters. During the wait, I asked our server twice what was taking so long. Both times, I was told that they had a large party on the patio. While I understand that large parties can put additional pressure on a kitchen, that really shouldn't come at the expense of other customers who were seated and ordered before or around the same time. If the restaurant isn't able to accommodate a large party while maintaining reasonable service for other guests, there should be better planning and communication. What made it even more frustrating was watching other tables around us receive their food before we did. When I questioned the delay, the response was essentially that "some food takes longer than others." I understand that certain dishes may take more time to prepare, but waiting over an hour without any proactive communication or explanation was disappointing. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, the experience left a poor impression. I really wanted to enjoy the restaurant and give it a fair chance, but based on the service we received, I highly doubt we'll be returning. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because customers shouldn't have to repeatedly ask about their food after waiting that long.

I had a barrel ages old fashioned. The bread was fresh and tasty. The menu has quite a variety...steak, chicken, seafood...something for everyone. We were going for steak. A filet was ordered and two of us ordered the 14 oz ribeye. From what I saw on other tables steak seems to be a favorite. The waitress came back and took salad orders, how we wanted the meat cooked plus another drink if needed. I ordered medium well. After a bit i order another old fashioned. The first one went smooth and good. Not too much ice, just the right amount of liquor. Chilled and good. The wedge salad comes out and it's covering the plate. Thousand island dressing plus real bacon bits. A nice touch. Just enough dressing. After a bit the ribeye arrives. It too covers a portion of then plate. it's a bit peppered but cooked right. The waitress asked us to cut into the meat to verify it was cooked right, they all were cooked as ordered. Truly a treat. The steak is gone, a little bread is left on the table, half the old fashioned is remaining. Definitely will return in the future if I'm in Shreveport. Between the service and quality of the food it's a must visit if you're in town.
