Went to eat lunch while traveling across the states. I had my service dog trained with task for a disability but they refused service! And I'm supposed to be allowed in there he still refused nor did I even wanna try to make him let me go in there cause then I was worried to do something to my food. I'm reporting him for that too. Salad was from a bag with a lone cherry tomato added Server couldn't tell me what the stuffing was in the mushrooms and I couldn't tell either had a faint fish taste. Didn't eat Combo dish came drowning in a cheesy gooey sauce and had to hunt for the pasta dishes. Impossible to tell where the two items were. Also did not eat Spaghetti was ok Did not see our server again after our food was served. We had finished for over 10 minutes before he showed again. I've been here a few times now and every time it's been a great dining experience. Menu has a wide selection and prices are very good. Likewise, the food has been flavorful with good size portions. The service was very good, and our waitress checked on us frequently. The restaurant is very pleasant and comfortable to be in. Everything was clean and well-cared for. The lunch menu prices go until 3:00 pm, even on the weekends. For talking to one of the owners in the past, I was told that they have been here for 30 years and everything on the menu is made to order in their kitchen. Cafe Italia is one of the best places to dine in Marshall. If you have never been, I recommend it most highly. read more

A friend and I visited Cafe Italia for the first time tonight. We won't be back. To start we were escorted to a booth with a broken seat. When we pointed it out to the waitress she shrugged, admitted it had been broken awhile and walked off. We laughed thinking, "strange but whatever." We ordered drinks (a soda pop and an iced tea), the stuffed mushrooms with bread as an appetizer and we decided to share an order of the chicken picatta and a large pizza Florentine, thinking we could take the leftovers with us. The bread we received was stale and inedible. When the main courses arrived we were sorely disappointed. The picatta sauce was thin, runny and completely lacking flavor, the chicken was so tough that even trying to cut it with a knife and fork was difficult. We gave up on the chicken and tried the pizza, which again was completely flavorless and tasted bland, the spinach seemed as though it had been frozen and then thawed before it was added to the pizza. We were so disappointed that we told the waiter who offered to send the owner to our table. He arrived openly hostile and told us that this was the first complaint he had ever received in more than 20 years. I told him that maybe it was because people were afraid of his anger. We paid the bill in full ($65.00 including tip), left the food largely untouched, and left very disappointed. Zero stars, I do not recommend. read more

Nice little quaint restaurant, service was okay. Server was not in a very good mood, after expressing how tired she was after a long day, had sweet tea but she refilled as unsweet. So, while visiting the lovely town of Marshall, Texas, I decided to grab some Italian at this place Café Italia. Let me say that it's far from authentic. The sauce was terrible way too much oregano and quite over seasoned. When I cut into the veal I was surprised, no breading whatsoever. Now let me say that I am aware that authentic veal parmigiana is made with breaded veal and then sautéed in a pan with oil so it comes out Friday as if it was put into a deep fryer. As you can see here, no breading whatsoever. I did ask the waitress and she went to the kitchen and came back to. Yes it's breaded, but it's a light dusting on Friday. Well let me see I didn't see anything and I'm sure it was probably absorbed by the oil. I will tell you there is a finished piece of processed veal I ever had. Didn't taste too bad, but it was definitely process and you can tell him and frozen. Not out of the ordinary, though. That was far as the spaghetti with standard dry pasta. It was not fresh as they say on their menu. No possible way was that fresh pasta. Definitely dry. I also see the sauce too again over seasoned way too much seasoning especially oregano. And I'll tell you it reminds me of going to a Greek own diner, and getting pasta. It seems like a Greek tomato sauce more than an Italian. And it's definitely not find dining as they say. read more

Super nice staff & atmosphere. The starter bread is excellent (make sure to get some marinara for the dipping). I had one of, if not the best arrabbiatas of my entire life. It's one of my go-to's so I'm pretty picky. I was honestly very surprised at how amazing the food was considering the small town location and the fact that it was next to a Waffle House, but don't let that fool you. 1/9/20 Came here for dinner after being on the road for a while. Yelp shows me this restaurant and how great it was, so here I came. I ordered the seafood Alfredo and shared mussels as appetizer, my coworker ordered the lasagna. Our food came out pipping hot but it was so delicious. I sincerely appreciated the establishment staying open for us to be their last order. Every bite was yummy and the service was great. Will always return here if in the area. Ordering the chicken piccata: Me: "Can you please add artichokes to that?" Them: "No, 'she' won't do that." Me: "But you have like 5 other things on your menu with artichokes. I'm happy to pay extra." Them: "We can't do that." Me: "Can I get a side of artichokes on a separate plate?" Them: "No." Me: "I'm confused. You have artichokes in one of your salads." Them: "If you want something with artichokes, might I suggest..." Me: "No thank you... I'll take the chicken piccata." Tip: if you aren't willing to accommodate simple customer requests, that's totally your prerogative. Probably best not to expect positive reviews though. You also might consider relocating off the main highway where people from out of town, and who may have out of town service level expectations will be less likely to stop in to try your establishment. The food was ok. Service was awful. If you are from out of town, just keep driving. This place has a very strong "locals only" vibe. Quick rant: Tonight my boyfriend & I went to Cafe Italia in Marshall. Usually, I love the food & go back a lot, but have never been a huge fan of the owners. I ordered ravioli & he ordered shrimp fettuccine. We got the pastas & he tried it. You could tell by his face that something wasn't right. The shrimp tasted bad, as if the meat had come from a bad batch. It ruined the whole bowl of pasta. He got up to go to the restroom because he felt nauseous & I set the plate to the edge of the table. The owner walked by & said, "What's wrong with this?" I told her the meat wasn't fresh & it tasted really bad, as if the meat was spoiled. I also told her that he went to the restroom because the food made him nauseous. She told me that her food didn't make him sick & that he was sick before he came & that her shrimp is fresh. I repeated my statement as to how it had to have been a bad batch of meat & that it was okay and that I understood because I work in the service industry & it happens. She could either take it and give a new batch or take it off the bill, as any restaurant would do. She ignored me & asked if I wanted a togo box. I said no. I was brought my ticket with the alfredo on it. I went up to the front where the other owner was located to pay for my ravioli & garlic bread because one bite was taken since the shrimp was spoiled. She told me that it was his problem. We proceeded to go back & forth for about 5 minutes about the situation. I paid & left. Won't being going back because of how unkind they were to me, especially having supporting them for so long. read more

We had my 60th birthday party there the food is always great, never a complaint. The wait staff are young but they know the menu and were attentive to our table of 13 people. This food is awesome! However, we can't eat lunch here much because it puts us down about 2:00 pm. We have eaten here for the past 7 years. This family is Macedonian and seriously good cooks! The Calzone is our all time favorite!!!!! One of the top 10 things we have ever tried! It is full of Ricotta Cheese and Sausage and heaven. Tortellini Bologneze with pink sauce is next in line for us. The White Pizza is awesome. Homemade bread and butter is first each meal and very good. Small town Italian is either great or horrible and unfortunately for us this was the latter of the two. The staff wasn't very friendly at all and I get that peoples nerves are frayed from being short staffed and so forth but you should never take that out on your patrons. I travel all over the world so I've always been prepared for the worst. This place between the food, ambiance, and staff is mediocre at best. I always try to give a very fair review but this is by no means a go out of your way restaurant. The sauce tasted like it came in a jar and the pasta was beyond mushy. Refills rarely happened and the list goes on. For us this was a swing and a miss by far. read more

I like this place, in spite of some problems. I had a basalmic chicken. It was a good dish. I was disappointed in their spaghetti which tasted like regular ol grocery store spaghetti, but the blackened sauce with mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and chicken on top was good. The waiter forgot to get me a salad until I asked for it, and he kept saying bread was coming but didn't bring it until after the meal. When it came, it wasn't worth the wait - pretty plain. Salad was just a simple bagged salad mix and bread was something u could buy at the store for cheap as well. The bathroom was a little grungy and part of it was out of order. The whole restaurant smelled more of whatever artificial room fragrance they are using, and it far outweighed any natural Italian food smell that should accompany an Italian restaurant. They close at 10 pm I came in at 9:30 and the lady said they were closed because "they close in 30 minutes" , I get it, but I've worked in the restaurant industry and we were always told to take customers until it was the time we were supposed to close. We were visiting Marshall Texas and stayed in the area for over 10 days. Cafe Italia is located within walking distance to our Fairfield by Marriott hotel. Cafe Italia became one of our favorite places for lunch. Soups were very good and hot, as well as the bread was heavenly. In addition ordered spaghetti with meatballs and eggplant lasagna - so good home cooked meals. The owner is working hard to provide fast service and the waitress was attentive and friendly. This was during COVID-19 pandemic when many businesses were struggling and finding it hard to find kitchen staff. I highly recommend this place - great home cooked meals, excellent service, and clean. Two thumbs up!!! read more
