Customer service here was a joke , they didn't greet us coming in and didn't even give us a menu to begin with the waitress asked to take our order after a while then we told her we never got a menu . We ordered 3 orders of ceviche and only got like 3 tostadas total , they never came to ask us if we needed anything we had to get up look for the waitress and ask for more tostadas to finish eating and they still gave us a limited amount ! Please avoid going to this place...we eat out quite a bit, are not picky eaters and very rarely are willing to take time out of our busy schedule to write reviews, but I had to make an exception. Pros: Our particular waitress was kind and honest. Cons: The food tastes terrible and we are not picky eaters. Way too salty or bland, but no true flavor. The "ceviche" was literally raw, instead of being cooked in lime or boiled.We informed them of this and they said didn't have time to cook the ceviche fully in the lime. I had been to this place in the past and it was good. Unfortunately I went this weekend and was so disappointed. I ordered camarones al veneno. The shrimp was so old it was literally falling apart as I was taking the skin off. We ordered a kids plate of rice with shrimp. We thought the shrimp would be breaded or somethin. They literally put rice with boiled flavorless peeled small shrimp on top. The carne asada, meat was over cooked in oil. Overall horrible food. They took the shrimp meal off the bill and our bill was still over $44 they said because they charge 10% just for the service. Sometimes you find the best food at out of the way places in towns that are barely on the map. Service and food outshine the hard benches and the loud Mariachi band. Mariscos Morales is just this kind of restaurant. We brought our own wine and were NOT charged a corkage fee. Wow!! What a novel idea. We offered to pay a corkage fee, but were denied. We left a hardy tip. :) The first course was your traditional chips and salsa. But it wasn't salsa. It was ceviche. Cilantro, small bits of tomato, thin slices of red onion and sea bass all soaked in lime juice. There was depth of flavor and I wanted much more. We all had a shrimp dish, mine was garlic and sweetness of the sauce married with the beans and rice is a flavor I will remember forever. My friends had the shrimp diablo - a bit spicier but not over the top. In fact the flavor profile and combination was perfect. They offer the 'chica' size and 'grande' size and believe me, the chica size is plenty for anyone. I wanted to try the full one seafood cocktail with octopus, shrimp and fish but my friend didn't get too excited about the octopus. Okay, the atmosphere is nothing special. But the quality of the food makes up for what is lacking in that area. Our wait staff bent over backwards to make us happy...today's trendy restaurants could learn something from these folks. I'd suggest taking a group of people, drink tequila, eat great seafood and party with the mariachi band!! I would give them 4.5 stars if i could. The food was overall very good. The mojarra frita was exceptionally good, well seasoned and cooked just right. The coctel de cameron and tostada de ceviche de cameron were solid too. Service was attentive and prompt. My horchata was way too sweet, a bit disappointing. Best part: they serve you fresh chips and a sample of ceviche upon your arrival. Coming from LA I have high standards with mariscos but this is very good for Oregon. I've been going here and getting food to go for a while now and the food is awesome!! Always delicious! However, the staff began gossiping about my order right in front of me. They began speaking in Spanish thinking I wouldn't understand what they were saying while laughing hysterically about what I ordered, while I understood everything they said. I felt good and excited about the food coming in but felt horrible walking out. This has been a favorite spot of mine. However, I will not go here anymore and will tell my family and friends not to go here as well because of the awful experience.
