Right out the gate this IS NOT a speedy Gonzales, taco and burrito specials kinda of place(Don't worry they still have Steak tacos and land lover entrees). This is a Mexican restaurant focusing on wonderful seafood entrees and their bold flavor possibilities. In my three visits I have had the Seafood tower which is loaded with Shrimp, Tuna, scallops,Octopus, onion, avocado, and tomato. I can't recommend it enough. Camarones Bahia is the dish I have had each visit. You are gonna get messy because this is head and shell on shrimp cooked in an amazing spicy sauce. The drink options are as amazing as the food. They take Michelada to a whole other level, I swear whoever came up with the drink page of the menu had to have consumed a whole lot of tequila. New Mexican seafood restaurant in former Fogata Brava site at North Raleigh Plantation Point (BJ'S) location. I had the Filette Costeno ($20) and wife had the Camaron Costeno ($20). Both were excellent- tasty, moist and tender. Service was attentive and friendly. We will return. So good! Not your typical Mexican restaurant as it caters towards seafood and coastal foods. They also have some Tex-mex menu items as well. Portion sizes were big. I'll be back to try some more ceviche and other seafood meals. read more

I took my parents here when they were visiting. The lights and outside decorations have always intrigued me so we decided to try it out. Excellent spot. The food was extremely fresh and high quality. Not too many places give you a full fish dip appetizer free of charge. It is usually just salsa. The service was excellent and everything seemed fairly priced. If you love seafood I highly recommend. This is my second review to be fair from the first review I previously posted. As I mentioned during my first review, the food is excellent amd has always been. My issue was and noticed I said was customer service which is now so much more improved. This is my 3rd visit back and they have really improved. I noticed the manager Mila going above and beyond with her staff and the customers and so happy to see a good restaurant doing well. I highly recommend. The seafood is excellent!!! So far everything I order hits the spot. We love the pulpo ceviche, the fried fish dishes and my husband loves the raw oysters with the shrimp ceviche and pulpo on the top of them. Just delicious. Food Poisoning/Poor sanitation. We were seated quickly in a mostly empty restaurant. We noticed the low-80s sanitation score by the door but shrugged it off. The food menu was fine, drink menu was limited. Our food and drinks came fairly quickly. There were a few unidentifiable drops of white-liquid in one dish of our salsa. We pushed that salsa aside and ate from the other bowls, which looked fine. WOW! Seafood & Mexican! Very clean restaurant, nicely decorated with all new under the sea decor, good music playing not too loud just the right volume. Extensive menu included not only seafood but vegetarian, chicken & steak options. I ordered the spicy grilled shrimp entree with no butter. Very accommodating as food is all cooked to order. I also ordered a Virgin "mango-nata" that's not on the menu, it was so delicious the BEST one I've EVER had! The chips & salsa kept coming... refills for our waters... the entree's came out fast & correct! My food was amazing! Food is good but the music is terrible, don't try this restaurant if you eating with your family, specially small kids. Our drinks were served several minutes later after being seated. The appetizer was brought out late too. We didn't have silverware until after we finished the appetizer and we couldn't ask for the silverware because nobody came to check if we were okay. We barely had napkins and we didn't have enough straws for the drinks. When our food was brought out, there was a hair on a cucumber. When we received the check, they had already added a "suggested gratuity" of $61 which we felt was not the correct amount for the poor service we receive. My friends and I came here for dinner tonight...they were busy, so I understand not everything being "perfect", but all of our food upon getting to the table was cold. I ordered a fajita quesadilla & tho the flavor was good, the meat & veggies inside were not hot. It was almost like the food was microwaved, then put inside a tortilla & sent out. Not a fan. I got the burrito tapatio, girlfriend got the enchiladas supreme. The cheese on top of my burrito was kinda gunny, and made the whole thing a pain to eat. Tasted fine enough, but definitely wasn't great. The enchiladas were just... well, bland. The ground beef one was abominable. The enchilada sauce tasted suspiciously like spaghetti sauce. Had dinner here this Friday evening. The food was excellent, but the ambiance was just strange. When you walk in they are selling what appeared to be some kind of Girl Scout candy at the hostess stand. Between that, and the menus, it just felt kind of cheap. Was also a little thrown off by the lights being a little to bright, and music being a little to loud to be able to talk while at the table. Really nice looking place inside and out, when we got in we were greeted promptly and nicely by the ladies in the front, right away to a clean table, I was expecting the tables to be separated more bc of covid but no; all very close together. After we sat it took about 5-7 mins for someone to notice us. Taking our drink order letting us know that our waiter is coming. My sweet tea came and my husbands Dos X michelada not yet but that's understandable. We were ready to order but still no one came about 5 mins after my tea. Our waiter came and asked if my husbands still didn't have his drink yet, "no"we replied and he said he would go get it, he came back with a tea... we told him we were ready to order and that the tea is not what my husband wanted. After that he came with the michelada but it was not good it lacked flavor it was watered down by the ice. The food came right away and it was delicious! I finished my tea; I thought I shouldn't bother our waiter since he was running around one table to another so I took the other tea he brought prior and to my surprise it was unsweet . I could tell our waiter as really busy and I don't blame him but we waited a while until I had to wave at him to come to us (I hate doing that) but if I didn't he probably wouldn't have come. That's when I finally let him know I needed more sour cream and a sweet tea. That's all. We left soon after. I have been here twice. The first time my experience was excellent but the second time it left much to be desired. The service the second time was laughably bad. I have never made eye contact and attempted to wave a waiter over before and been ignored in favor of him talking to a waitress. Getting a check took well over twenty minutes in a mostly empty restaurant. If the restaurant had been busy or the waiter not immediately visible the entire time I absolutely wouldn't be writing this review. I was taken for my 67th Birthday. I did not know it was here. This place used to be another Mexican restaurant called "On The Border" years ago. First it was very busy place so if you are uncomfortable about COVID right now it may not be for you. They did have outdoor seating however. Everyone was very friendly but some servers did not speak hardly any English. My high school Spanish helped out though. The ladies in our party requested wine but they said they had none. This is a much needed addition to their menu. The menu is a bit confusing but we figured it out. Pictures helped and we got a server who spoke good English. They brought us some very nice chips and salsa to start. The drink menu has very strange combinations. They do have single margaritas but they are not on the menu. You need to ask. My wife had a grilled salmon with creme sauce cooked perfectly. I had the Pulpo Culichi which is a very tasty grilled octopus with a spicy sauce on it. It was the absolute best octopus dish I ever had. The meal ended with the servers bringing me a delicious flan and singing happy birthday in Spanish. All in all a very pleasant evening. I understand they do have live entertainment from time to time. The food is geared to coastal Mexico so lots of seafood dishes but they do have some traditional and Tex Mex as well. read more
