Si vous désirez manger sur la terrasse, la file d'attente est devant celle-ci sinon aller directement à l'intérieur . Le stationnement à l'arrière est grand. Il s'étend sur quelques bloc donc même s'il n'y a pas de place directement derrière, continué. Il y a pas mal d'enseigne qui vous l'indique anyway. Pour la nourriture, j'ai décidé d'essayer la pizza les 3 petits cochons. Il s'agit d'une pizza avec sauce tomate, mozzarella, bacon, capicollo et saucisse. Toute les pizza sont servit avec un petit pot d'huile épicé. Les pizza sont cuit dans un four au bois et gaz sur une plaque tournante. On le goûte très bien. La pizza a un petit goût de bois juste parfait et elle était très bonne. La seul chose, et c'est question de préférence, je l'aurais laisser un petit peu plus longtemps pour avoir une croûte plus croustillante sur le dessous. Il s'agit de pizza croûte mince style napolitaine mais garnis façon new York. J'estime la taille autour de 12" pour la pizza. Le.service est bien, on ne ressent pas les effets de la pénurie de main d'oeuvre tant sur la rapidité du service que dans l'attente pour la nourriture. Je vais y retourner essayer autre chose mais certainement reprendre une pizza plus tard. Il y a possibilité de faire livrer ou de prendre pour emporter avec un rabais. Il y a une note au bas du menu qui indique que si vous prenez un repas et le partagé, il y a des frais de 4$. There was such a huge selection of fabulous, mouth-watering items on the menu that ranged from crèpes to french toast and sandwiches that it was difficult to choose. I had Le Brise, comprised of french toast, loads of sweet, crispy and fresh fruit in season and custard sauce. Québec Maple syrup was brought to the table, just in case we didn't have enough sweetness. My friend had the scrambled eggs, toast, home fried potatoes & baked beans. The ambience was light and service was quick between servers setting up for a large party behind us and another party in front of us, and the two teenagers beside us who received a lot of attention from the younger server. Troisieme Tasse's locale appeared to be empty and had leasing signs on its vitrines. As I walked back to the Metro realizing I needed to get coffee elsewhere, I saw Lafayette unobtrusively occupying a corner and almost directly across from the Metro station. I filed it away in my head to look it up and see what they had to offer. Lafayette checked out just fine on review sites, so I went in to eat lunch another day. As you walk in, it's a little long in the tooth, but that adds some character to Lafayette. It has the big booths and, as a bonus, its sitting on a corner allows it to have many booths next to windows. It looked like there was quite a bit to choose from, so it could have been that I was overwhelmed. That said, I settled on a club sandwich and a soft drink. I sure have eaten a lot of club sandwiches in the province of Quebec, with all of them being plentiful and satisfying. I've eaten them in Montreal, in Quebec City, and even smack in between the two in Trois-Rivieres. In fact, there used to be a place called Le Club Sandwich about a block or so west of Papineau for which the site, complete with the tacky building occupying it, has given way to gentrification. Lafayette has a good feel ... sort of like a worn and comfortable shoe. The service was also "comfortable," for lack of a better word, but not at all worn, or world weary. By this I mean that it was informal and good-natured, almost as if in a small town. The prices were in the ballpark for this genre and for having an in-town Montreal location close to the city center. The club sandwich was very good. I was very happy with that choice - almost always safe and almost always tasty and filling. Restaurant Lafayette has been around a long time and local folks as regulars is a good sign. I would eat here again and, with a location between Centre-Ville and the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and being so close to a Metro station, it would make it even more likely.

It took a while before we got the menu and for the staff to explain it to us. As a matter of fact, the first waiter did such a poor job that I wasn't sold on the tasting menu as I had no idea what I was getting and didn't sound interesting. He basically didn't say anything that I couldn't read off the menu. Then the 2nd waitress did a better job at describing the menu to our group. According to my friend, their menu now is much smaller than pre-Covid. I was the only one who ordered the Tasting menu (4 course meal) for $85 and everyone else ordered a la carte. It also took a long time for the Sommelier to come as we wanted some recommendations for a wine which will pair well with everyone's food. Wine list is of course extremely extensive as the restaurant is know for their wines. You have a vast selection of price range so everyone can find something within their budget. They have an extensive vine collection and it is presented to you on an IPad so you can see pictures and descriptions. My husband just came to Canada less than 6 months ago and only speaks English and they went above and beyond to make sure he understood every single thing. They presented our menu and dishes in both languages so he didn't feel excluded. The place is beautiful, cozy and romantic. This is a must try for sure fine dining at it's best.
