This is very lengthy, but I am Sooo passionate about this that I do not want anyone else to have this kind of bad experience. I would give Barack a minus one If I could.. I also plan on letting the medical board know how unethical and non caring Dr Mark Barack is. He was my doctor when his practice was on Foothill in Pomona Ca. I first met him in the 90's when he let me know that Doctor Mousa's Mono Vision was a wrong choice for me because Mousa took away my distant dominant eye and brought it so I could only read with it therefore I could not see for over three months until my brain accepted this change. Fast forwarding, now I need cataract surgery. I gave Barack my total trust. I now find out he also suggest PanOptic lens to EVERYONE who needs cataract surgery instead of giving us other choice of lens which would be according to each persons eye needs. If a person already has astigmatism/halos. PanOptics is NOT the lens to have. A muti focal lens should never be placed when astigmatism or halos are seen because it will creat more halos. So I walked into Pomona Valley Hospital nervous but totally trusting Barack. Two years later and my vision is WORSE than before surgery. I could not drive especially at night because of how blurry my vision is and still is. Before moving I went to Baracks office several times and waited for almost two hours before being seen just to get an arrogant, "sue me if you want" answer from him. He was willing to perform a corrective PRK which takes three to four months to heal and much pain involved. That's not a solution especially when I was moving out of state, which he was aware. Why would I trust him the second time when he left me with blurry vision and worse halos. than before the cataract surgery. Doctor Chuck from Pomona and Doctor Lee from City of Industry in Ca and two doctors in Arizona, Doctor Patrick Aiello and Doctor Nappi from Scottsdale have since confirmed what a horrible mess Barack left me in. I asked Barack to refund my $2,800.so that I can have it corrected with LASIK but Barack refused. His comment was, he will refund IF I give him back his PanOptic lens. WHY? So he can reuse it? How tacky and unethical.

I have amazing vision now that my cataract surgery is done. Thank you staff and Dr. Barack. Best thing, I don't wear contacts now.

Personally, I see Dr Anil, Dr A as I call him. He has worked with me in monitoring my condition for a few years now and you can't get a better person who happens to be an MD. So knowledgeable, no question is too small or insignificant to ask. I referred my husband as well and he has great respect for Dr A as well. This practice is well worth a look!

Incredibly positive experience! I highly recommend…read more I genuinely feel so blessed. My little one was practicing writing her letters when suddenly she turned to me and told me she had "a black eye". What followed was a series of test performed by me, a visit to the pediatrician and an instruction by her pediatrician to see an ophthalmologist. This was a very difficult task indeed, I called place after place and no one could get us in or had an ophthalmologist or had someone who worked with kids. I called Claremont eye associates and it said they were closed but if it was urgent I could leave a message with their answering service. 1 hour later they called me back. Amazing from that point on. She told me they had no appointments available but they'd want me to come in right then and they'd squeeze me in if I didn't mind waiting. I got there and besides being confused since the map took me to the back of the office and the front door doesn't look like one, everything was better than expected. The front desk worked quickly and efficiently and was so friendly and patient. There was hustle but also slow down for questions. They moved people in and out flawlessly. They answered my questions about insurance. I saw the person I had talked to on the phone and she was even more friendly and kind in person. They took us back in less time than I've waited somewhere that I DID have an appointment. The nurse was efficient and experienced, professional and kind. My first interaction with the doctor was very brief and made me cry because as soon as he saw my daughters results he told the nurse to dilate her eyes and walked out and I felt confused and overwhelmed and wished someone would tell me what that meant. She was reassuring and patient and we walked to room after room as they completed the exam. When I saw the doctor again, he had all the hustle of everyone else but did show me her optic nerve and the back of her eye and assured me that from an "eye" perspective, she looked great, with the exception that she was very farsighted and one of her eyes was "nearly blind". While we were in there he got a call, and had to multitask. I got the sense that he is good at what he does, and he does it, without any fluff. I appreciate that especially because everyone else is over the top friendly, I'm fine if he's more "all business" especially because he did explain everything very succinctly and answered my questions and even was thoughtful of finances in where he sent me to get her prescription. A very positive experience. I felt so encouraged and cared for!

Meagan helped me fall in love with what I see--because for the first time, I could actually see! I'm serious. I saw Dr. Ishi, who I seriously cannot recommend enough -- she's truly amazing. She helped me figure out that my previous experience at Costco Optical has, in fact, been totally useless and wholly inaccurate--my prescription has been off for like...10 years??? No wonder I can't see at night! Ha ha! Turns out, my bizarre and highly astigmatismed eyeballs happen to be both nearsighted and farsighted on each respective side..and thus require a certain amount of due diligence and attention--all of which I have never experienced at any other optometrist prior to coming to this place. Literally, one side of my contact prescription was off by 1.5 points or whatever they use to measure it--i mean, what?? Should I contact my car insurance to dispute any claim against any minor car accidents that I may or may not have been involved in over the past DECADE since I LITERALLY COULDN'T SEE!!!?? Dr. Ishi is incredible. Megan is a sweetheart who helped me pick glasses that not only fit, but ~*flattered*~ my large and in charge face. Because of this wonderful team, I can FINALLY see for the first time in my life. Can't recommend this place enough! 10/10. Ps; and not to be super creepy or anything...as I still don't know that deep and mysterious voice I heard but I think I'm low key in love. I seriously can't wait to go back!! But next time, I think I'll wear makeup! Although idk maybe i won't bc what if they put drops in my eye and my mascara runs??? Only time will tell...stand by for updates ).

As a pediatric general dentist, I'm seeing 40-80 kids a day - to say my vision is critical is an understatement, and I'd only be trusting my eyes to the best. LASIK has completely changed my daily clinical and non-clinical life, and even 5 or so years after my original surgery date, easily remains one of the best health related expenses I've ever done. For those of you interested in the academic side of things, Dr. Zhu is well credentialed - a Harvard graduated MD, with Ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute / USC & Los Angeles County Medical Center. Her fellowship was at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. As if that's not enough, she still does research and mentors upcoming residents. This level of training and active commitment to the medical community as a whole speaks volumes to the caliber of clinician that Dr. Zhu is and aspires to build unto others. Non-academically, Dr. Zhu herself is incredibly personable, and shows an unwavering commitment to her patients - even years later, she personally follows up me multiple times, and is as interested in my own vision outcomes as I am. She is thorough, detail-oriented, and can confidently convey the same depth and breath of knowledge to her patients. Due to my correction being borderline for the limits of LASIK, all contingencies were planned for to ensure excellent outcomes. Even years later, I have not had a single post-op complication, including zero days of dry eyes. Dr. Zhu is an amazing eye surgeon, and more importantly, an awesome human being. I'm absolutely ecstatic about the care I've received, and cannot recommend Dr. Zhu any more highly.

Dr. Zhu is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. I never felt rushed, and she answered every question with genuine care and professionalism. What really stood out was her attention to detail and how comfortable she made me feel throughout the exam. It's clear she truly cares about her patients and takes pride in delivering top-quality eye care. Her expertise and calm demeanor immediately put me at ease. If you're looking for an ophthalmologist who is skilled, compassionate, and takes the time to provide personalized care, I highly recommend Dr. Dagny Zhu. I'm grateful to have found such a trustworthy eye doctor and will definitely continue coming here for my eye care needs!
